《Another World and I'm still rich?》Chapter 25. Memui, searching for Silan.

We nurse Xavier back to health over the course of five days, a long time yes but we had to wait otherwise we might risk Xavier's condition worsening due to travel.
Currently Xavier is 'silently' sleeping in the back of the carriage whilst we head to the castle Memui was stationed to defend even after the kingdom was conquered apparently...
I've casted multiple enchantments on the carriages and we are moving at incredibly high speeds currently.
--- A few days pass ---
"And we are here." (Colin)
I stare at the half-broken castle with a single person walking in it's courtyard, Memui.
I make sure that the others are at a distance that they won't be caught up in a fight if one happens.
Me and Vivian climb out and head towards Memui, I am going first just in case she attacks.
We walk quite close, enough to knock on the gate, if one was here...
"Stay here Vivian, if it even looks like things will get violent... Run to the carriages as fast as possible. You haven't fully recovered yet either." (Colin)
She nods as she looks at Viv behind us, waiting for our return.
I slowly get closer to the courtyard and the moment I step foot inside it, she looks at me, casts a spell and throws a fireball.
"Memui, those aren't going to work. No need for violence." (Colin)
With one snap of fingers I summon a fireball and throw it towards the one coming towards me.
Ah, how I love chantless casting. Consumes a lot more mana than using a spell but it's way more efficient in every other possible way...
She walks towards me casting fireball after fireball, ice spear after ice spear, lightning sphere after lightning sphere, all whilst I was blocking them with a mana shield.

"Memui, calm down. Let's talk about this, peacefully." (Colin)
She doesn't stop and walks closer and I see that she has lost all hope and doesn't even listen to me.
"Guess knocking her out is possible for now... Don't really want to harm her too much." (Colin)
With one step I am already in her face and I hit the top of her head and she collapses on the ground.
"Viv, get some rope from the carriage! We are going to need it!" (Colin)
Soon after Viv comes into the courtyard with some rope.
"Thanks. She really didn't want to listen." (Colin)
"I see that... So this is what people who thought they had lost everything are like..." (Viv)
I tie up Memui and pull her up, carrying her in a princess-like way.
This was the most efficient way I could see if she woke up and tried casting spells alright?
Don't look at me like I am a womanizer, Viv.
We leave the courtyard and Vivian is patiently waiting with Xavier peeking out of the carriage.
"I brought Memui back. Sadly she apparently didn't listen to me, probably forgot about me. I hope Xavier or you, Vivian, can bring her back to sanity. Also whenever she seems to be casting a spell, tell me immediatly." (Colin)
I help put Memui in the back of the carriage, right next to the guild members.
Vivian and Xavier sit right next to Memui whilst I drive the carriage to the area that Silan was sent towards.
--- Another few days pass ---
We have reached Silan's landing spot, uneventfully.
The crater is huge though... Like a dragon decided to take a dive from outer space but stopped just before collision.
In the middle of the crater is... Nobody.

"And here I was hoping it would be easy." (Colin)
I look around and see a blood trail leading through a pathway in the forest.
"Guess that's where we are going..." (Colin)
I lead the carriage horses towards the pathway and we go through a seemingly hand-crafted archway for a while.
The blood trail is going this way from the middle of the crater so we must follow this.
We travel for a few hours until we reach a massive village.
The first person we see is an elven guard rushing towards us.
He immediatly aims his bow towards me and two elven guards appear behind the carriage and aim their bows into it.
"What... Doing... Here?" (Guard)
"You know I can speak elven right? Don't need to speak in broken Dragonic." (Colin.)
"Ah. Good. So, answer my question.. What are you doing here, how did you learn how our language and why the hell do you have three injured people?" (Guard)
"First, we are searching for a friend named Silan. Second, A friend of mine who is an elf taught me. Third, I saved these three from the collapsing tyrannical multi-race kingdom. That answers everything." (Colin)
The elf friend isn't a lie. I really was taught elvish by an elf in the Sanctuary.
The guard looks into my eyes for a while until he runs off and his friends lower their bows.
He returns in a few minutes.
"You are free to pass... Whatever you are. Follow me." (Guard)
We enter the village and a lot of people come looking at us, more specifically me since the carriage isn't see-through and the people inside are covered by a cloth roof.
After a while of riding after the guard until he stops.
"Leave the carriage here. You said you are here for Silan right? The fellow who entered a few weeks ago, all bloodied up? Follow me." (Guard)
We all exit the carriage and follow the guard up a lot of stairs into a massive treehouse.
"Be respectful towards the Chief." (Guard)
I just nod and enter whilst the others follow after me.
The first person I see is Silan, he is on the ground sleeping.
A person is tending to him, an elven woman.
It's weird how much concentration she is putting into this, like every wound is a holy place.
"Love... Huh." (Colin)
The woman startles and immediatly catapults up, almost hitting the roof.
"No need to catapult through the roof. I know elves have high jumping power." (Colin)
"You must be the people searching for Silan right?" (Woman)
I just nod as she tidies up her clothing after it got messed up after she almost actually catapulted herself.
"Well we are here for Silan but I need to talk to you about another thing. A project of mine that I'm starting..." (Colin)

Shadow Falls
If you wanted to protect someone you loved, how far would you go, and what would you be willing to sacrifice? This question is at the core of this emotional rollercoaster of the book, Shadow Falls: the Rise and Fall of Erida VanIsle. This book emerged from four years of collaborative storytelling centering on the main character, Erida VanIsle, written by author Myra VanIsle. In this book, VanIsle goes beyond the events that led to Erida's sacrifice and explores forty-five years of the cost she paid to protect the sister she loved more than life itself. Shadow Falls explores the family tragedy which led to the separation of two sisters on completely different paths polar opposite of each other. While Erida set upon a path of darkness and power, Myra set out to be a beacon of light and hope bringing justice and peace to others. Be warned, the story VanIsle tells is dark and not easy, because you can't have the light without the dark.
