《Wandering through the stars》Chapter 5: New things to learn

"Young Master, you have been sleeping for three days now. A priest has already healed you and an alchemist has made a paste to apply to your body. There will be no scars left after your healing." said Raul while entering the room.
As I looked at the giant, he explained what happened to me while I was sleeping. Although he had a bushy beard and was over 2,5 meters tall, his voice was gentle when he spoke to me. The courtesy he showed me was not to the point that it made me feel repulsed. The fact that he answered my question before giving me the chance to ask it was also very impressive. Even though I had known him for years, the new me had an even more favorable impression of him. Taking a seat near my bed, he munched on a piece of fruit from the nearby night table as he continued to speak.
“As of yet, no results have been reported about the beast attack. However, we did notice that a few medium and high-ranking adventurers were out when the beast struck. Additionally, two Knight teams have been sent to investigate a newly discovered dungeon. Currently, the dungeon has been classified as low-ranking, which excludes it from being an infant dungeon attack. Sigh. That's all I have."
I remained silent. It was impossible for me to blame him. Even with my incomplete memories, I knew there was definitely something wrong, but what could I do? I was just the second son of a count who was sent here for training. Furthermore, I may even lose some credibility as a result of this event, given that I controlled the city. During my stay here, it was I who sent the knights to investigate the dungeon. The guilt of having been unable to do something to protect the citizens of the city engulfed me.

“Most of the wolves were taken out by the adventurers, while the knights protected the people. Apart from a few injuries that were healed by the priests and a few defenses that were destroyed, nobody was injured.” Raul told me as if he already knew why I looked downhearted, "I'm sure you can hear the celebration from here.".
I asked, "How did they manage to avoid the defenses, though?" I found it difficult to understand.
Raul bowed his head to me and told me: “This... is indeed troubling. Young Master is correct. They shouldn't have avoided them. It was an attack by numbers all at once. As the adventurers battled one at a time, more and more of their opponents slipped past them. Furthermore, it is strange that they were able to reach the platform so rapidly where the Young Master was giving orders. Please accept my apology."
"That's enough, Raul. Please explain."
“It's because most of the ones who got into the town went only to this position, while only a handful went elsewhere. Hence there were no fatalities. The fact that you defeated them with only a pickaxe surprised me a lot. Despite your statement that swordsmanship isn't for you, you have demonstrated great skill. Do I understand you correctly that you trained secretly to impress the Count? Huhu, as one would expect from Young Master. This is a brilliant move."
Although I'm not sure how an explanation became praise, my cheeks turned red in embarrassment. Was that swordsmanship? My arm was just swinging while berserk....nope, I can't claim that. Let's at least try to explain.
“No matter how much practice I've done, Raul, I felt that day that it wasn't enough. My main goal was to keep them from getting near me while swinging the pickaxe. Therefore, I would like you to teach me, Raul. I have to be stronger rather than let something like this happen again." the prince-me and noble-me have already been through life-threatening situations, while the earth-me was certain that this will not be the last time.

“You have finally decided to become stronger, Young Master! It was inevitable that this day would come soon, but I hadn't thought it would be today! I promise to make the Young Master into a wonderful man. Until the gift ceremony takes place in the capital, we have a little over two months to wait. From now until then, we will train every day. The Count will be delighted, I am sure. After writing a report for the count, I will be back soon," Raul stormed out of the room, tears streaming down his cheeks.
In what mess did I get myself into?

[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Some things about this story. This is a brutal world and a gory story, the gore is described. It is also NOT a power fantasy. This story depicts an Apocalypse, and humanities attempts to overcome it. There is more stuff to be noted that are different but those would be spoilers.
