《Naruto: The Phoenix Wolf Jinchuriki》Chapter 17

A week came and went in the streams of time. During the last week, beside resting for a day, Ryu has began practicing his wind transformation. However while he got the rotation down it was like grinding with a smooth blunt edge.
Now sitting in a field, Ryu felt a small breeze passed by as he watched as the leaf was cut clean in half. Jumping to his feet, he first pumped as he finally succeeded in getting the first level done for wind chakra.
“Well done, now shouldn’t you be getting somewhere?” Hikari voiced making Ryuu look at the time.
Quickly packing up, he sprinted towards the village as it is nearly time for the genin tournament. From what Sui-Feng said, it an option to be nominated for the chunin exams or promotion for the older ones or reserves.
After arriving nearly twenty minutes of straight running, Ryu met up with his team and walked towards the arena. Even after running he didn’t even look winded but more like he took a walk in the park.
“Cutting it close are we?” Hana teased.
“He probably was training and lost track of time.” Izumi grumbled angrily at something or someone.
“Um, so do you know what kind of tournament we are doing?” Ryu asked switching topics.
“There is currently seventy teams made from this and last year batch, reserves and older genin.” Sui-Feng said walking over to them.
“You guys are part of group two of three, as it split into groups of twenty five. Which is bad luck for you guys as from what I know. It is made up of mostly those vastly more experienced than you guys.”
“Isn’t that reasonable as we got out of the academy about three months ago.” Hana asked.
Shaking her head, “Most of group two are reserves or those with three or more years of experience.” Sui-Feng said making the three somewhat nervous.
Ryu had confidence in his strength as Hikari rated him at around mid chunin in fighting strength. That is including his recently addition to his style, Sexy Rotation Style. Well the name needs some work but it will throw others off.
However going up against twenty three other teams or seventy two others with much more experience. Luckily he has his team and it sounds like a free for all, but even then he worries his stamina will run out. Hana and Izumi who both have less than he does will be tired.

“Are we all fighting at once?” Izumi asked worried.
“Nah, there is not enough space in the arena. The three groups will be split into two groups of either thirteen or twelve. Than the winners of those will duke it out.” Sui-Feng explain making them sigh in relief.
“Why are doing this anyways as this has never happened before.” Hana asked.
“Hmm, the Hokage wants to see what current standard of his shinobis are. He also, seeing if any team him and random judges feel ready to take the chunin exams or to become chunin.” Sui-Feng explained. “Now let go watch the first round.”
===
The first group was in Ryu opinion alongside most of those in the crowd was...disappointed. Watching thirty nine men and women, either running, jumping or just plain showing off. Well, it made him worry for the future and how they survived this long.
“I will show you my legendary technique-”
A large man in his late twenties shouted before he was kicked into one of the few trees in the field. The one kicking him was a woman around nineteen before she was hit with a water bullet. So she quickly joined the man in the state of unconsciousness.
“This is disappointing.” Hana voiced most watching thoughts.
“If this is their standard I can see why they are still genin. It looks as if they are showing off or playing around. I only see maybe ten actually trying.” Izumi sweatdropped as most were either knocked out by a hits that made her look like Legendary Tsunade hits. What makes it worse, they weren't hit in spots that would knock them out from pain or vitals.
“Hopefully most of them are in the reserves or I will begin to question their missions and training schedules.” Ryu said with a sad sigh. He saw a woman in her early twenties blow a kiss distracting a man than kicking him between his legs.
“Hmm, I believe most of them are, or their skills are something else like seduction, interrogation, or code breaking, etc.” Sui-Feng frowned at the display in front.
“So, basically Hokage is clearing out the cannon fodder in group one.” a voice came from behind them. There a teenager with purple hair, pupiless eyes and questionable clothes. Sitting next to her was a girl with black hair and red eyes.
“Anko, that not nice thing to say.” Kurenai frowned at her friend.

Raising an eyebrow in response just pointed at a man who failed at casting a fire jutsu and coughing up a lung. If they haven’t seen the same man casting out a few fire jutsu beforehand they would have thought it was the first time.
“So Ryu what have you been up to lately. I haven’t seen you at the Hot Springs or around the village.” Anko asked earning a weird look from Sui-Feng.
“Why would you care if he at the hot springs? He would be at another part separate from you?”
An awkward silence fell between the group as the full time females laughed wryly.
“Why does it matter which side I go to?” Ryu asked tilting his head at his team's latest sensei.
“You are a boy, aren't you?” Sui-Feng said with a glare.
“I don’t think I actually have a set gender. You do realize I am female half the time and the other half male.” Ryu said.
“Is there a difference between your forms?” Sui-Feng asked as she never really did pay much attention.
“Well, my Ryuu form has a bit sofer features and skin, long white hair down to my lower back, and a couple budding peaks.” Ryu said as he switched and put his hands on his chest.
Ryu soon found himself underneath killing intent from three sides. “Your growing already.”
Nodding as he switched back to male, he got a feeling that he shouldn’t have said anything. Now he as a depressed teammates to his left and sensei on his right. Behind him both Anko and Kurenai sighed as they grabbed their own chest.
“I’m sure your will all grow?” He said unsure.
“I am already fully grown.” was all he heard from his sensei as she mumbled something increasing training.
As for what kind of training, Ryu didn’t know nor did he want to find out.
The battle soon ended with the final three fighting in a three way taijutsu battle. Which happened between ones that actually probably deserve to be promoted. The final battle was between two men and a woman who appeared to be in their mid twenties.
“That woman doing pretty well, though why is appearing to be flirting with them.” Hana asked as the woman swayed her hips, leaned forward showing off her bigger than average bust. Her straight brown hair swaying in the wind, as two brown bangs framed her face.
“Hmm, maybe I could incorporate some of her ways of seduction into my taijutsu.” Ryu said as the woman had a bit above average look, she was a master of seduction.
“Hmm, I suppose so, but it is going to take time and practices. You will need to read people and guess their preference. She is doing well, but if you notice the man who looks barely affected. He either completely loyal, asexual, or swings for the wrong team.” Hikari said.
The man they were talking about was was a man with short brown hair and eyes. His eyes appeared to be dead like his face as if he doesn’t have any emotions. Sadly there are too many around to get an accurate read on him with Ryu’s lacking sensing skills.
Finally the third man attempted to keep up as he kept parrying, blocking or countering. Only it was plain to see he was running out of steam to run on. Which both his opponents capitalized on and tag teamed him in turn ending his fight.
“Well, that was brutal.” Hikari commented.
The man without a facial feature quickly changed his target after they were sure the man was out. So the woman received a had kick to her stomach blasting her away. Jumping into the air with a rotation, the man dropped his heel onto the woman as well creating a creator ten feet in diameter.
“Are you sure that man a genin?” Hana asked at the destruction.
“He like those living dolls that appear in the village from time to time.” Ryu commented with a growl.
“What got you so riled up.” Izumi asked.
“Well those dolls keep around my and Naruto apartment. So it annoying as they basically keep watching it as at least one is always watching it.” Ryu grumply answered, as he saw the frown appear on Sui-Feng.
The match ended right after but barely anyone cheered except maybe a few citizens watching. Even the aged Hokage frowned at the display, at either the lacking performance or the bruatal ending. As the woman at the very least might have internal bleeding or erupt end to her shinobi career.
“I believe someone is playing a very dangerous game.” Sui-Feng said as the human doll left the arena.
