A long time ago, but not too long, humans and various mythical creatures lived together in harmony. Though it was not peaceful at times, everything was quiet. The world was big with a lot of different mythical beings, but there are two specific species of magical creatures that I am talking about here. That being merpeople and the mysterious sirens. Both lived in the vast ocean, but are totally different in various ways.

Merpeople are very social, like to stay in colonies or even make their own kingdoms or towns. Sometimes they also go to the surface to interact with humans on land and on boats. Now there are different types of merpeople, but I will make a generalization that can split them into their genders. Mermaids are usually stunning, are fierce protectors in certain situations; some even become warriors, smart and great caregivers. Merman are known for being reliable, strong, caring, and generally becoming leaders with their mate by their side as an equal.

Sirens usually like to stay by themselves in very close-knit communities, hiding away in the deeper parts of the oceans. They, in general, are so beautiful that is unmatched to the most beautiful of beings. Additionally, they have scales that have strong recuperating properties, longer tails to clutch rocks that stick out of the water, performing voices that can relax the most solidified of hearts. Like merpeople, they have sharp teeth and claws to ensure themselves, however non-retractable, and quick swimmers. There is one thing that sets them apart from their friendlier counterparts; some male sirens are child-bearers. Male child-bearing sirens are more feminine, very protective of their young, their singing can enchant anyone, they are more stealthy in the deep waters, and good hunters.

Because of those special traits, sirens soon became hunted into rarity. They all hid away in the dark crevices of the ocean, cutting off all contact with the rest of the world. Sadly, sirens are so rare to see even a glimpse of them is boasted about. This tale I'm telling you is about one of those male child-bearing sirens and his struggle after being discovered. Will he make it? Or end up a captured siren forever imprisoned? You better read more to find out.
