《Steven the Understanding》Steven the Unconscious

“And you’re sure you don’t have any more?” Steven asked the Beast. It nodded its head enthusiastically. The pair stood next to an absurdly large pile of sharp lumps of metal, “I want to believe you, but how many times have you told me you didn’t have any more of those sharp things before trying to stab me with another you pulled out of who knows where?” The Beast cocked his head to the side as if to try and figure out the number.
“Every time!” Steven had now been stabbed three of those times, “You told me that every single time!” The beast nodded even more enthusiastically, glad for the help in figuring out a difficult question.
After a minute or so of waiting, it seemed that they really were done. With every second, the Beast grew more and more confident in its ability to fight the very laws of nature by not manifesting a stabbing implement and trying to murder Steven. Steven for his part, was now somehow even more concerned than when he was trying to keep himself from being stabbed. Then at least he’d had a very clear goal. Somewhere between not knowing where he was, the mystery of how this green little hellion kept mysteriously manifesting weapons, and the blood loss, Steven was at a loss of what he should do next.
He shouldn’t have been, the blood loss and any other possible effects should have been a very clear next step for Steven, but that very same blood loss was mudding his priorities.
The Beast though was a much more direct creature. Now that he had his uncontrollable stabbing under wraps, a whole new world of opportunities had presented itself to him. There was a whole wide world of activities to explore. Admittedly not many of them interested him, but one did. While stabbings happened quite frequently in the Beasts line of work, he started to wonder, what if they didn’t? Or, what if they did, and he didn’t want them to have? Could he… unstab?

To unstab would be a feat that none of his kind had ever attempted, and It would change their world forever. His first instinct was to stick a sharp lump of metal back into one of the many holes already in Steven’s body, but The Beast had just recently escaped the grasp those weapons had on him, and was reluctant to test his newly formed willpower, even if it was the obvious best answer to the problem.
Before the Beast could try his next best answer, which was to turn Steven around so that the stabbings weren’t visible, effectively removing them from existence, Steven fell face first into some mud.

The Interstellar Artship
Hello? Traveler? Hi. My name is Silas. I’m the Chronicler around here. Might I entreat you to stay with us a while? We are a meager fleet of artships, eking our way across the charred and shrewd universe. Please, join us around the table and tell us your story. Our lives depend on it. I’m sure you know this world proves demanding, strange, and lonely. But here we go together, a caravan fleet of spacefarers, challenging the starry frontier, investigating the strangeness. Our warp-drives run on inspiration—a volatile fuel collected from the active minds of the artists, writers, and musicians among us. But the clock runs out—the Heartless in their scarships seek to destroy all that is beautiful, systematically deconstructing all creativity in order to fuel their weapons and feed their evil powers. We’ve all been hurt by those hateful devourers. We’ve all lost loved ones. But no more. No more, I say! Together we unite and make our arduous journey to the dreadful Shattered Suns—the home of our enemy. Once and for all the question shall be answered—the path to life shall show itself. **** If you would like to read the Artifacts which Silas and the Sojournor crew restore, visit our patreon page.
