《HERO CHRONICLES:》BK2; Chapter 7: [ Assassins Attack ]

Completely ignoring the crowd around him, Hein coldly spoke to her.
“… … Such a violent greeting. How may I help you?”
The frightened princess immediately regained her cold expression as she glared at him.
“T, that’s because you pretended not to notice me!” She answered.
“Really? I never knew … so how may I help you, princess?”
“You’re Hein Vilestone, right? A [ World Jumper ] and a legendary being”
“Oh? Yes that’s my name. You sure know a lot, princess~”
“Your reputation precedes you. One must only listen to learn what is needed.”
“Ho~, I wonder what this rumors you’re talking about. I hope it’s not that bad, consider my righteous and prideful attitude” Hein said with a humorous tone.
“No need to worry, All of it were just all exaggerated rumors if I may say so myself.”
“Fair enough~ so what’s the purpose of that violent and barbaric greeting, princess? Do you want to test if the rumors were true?” Hein asked while emitting a fierce aura that is quite the opposite of his current childish appearance.
“I, I want you to…”
Before the princess could finish what she’s saying, Hein suddenly had a strange sensation as his expression became grim. Activating [ Shadow Steps ], his body as if engulfed in darkness slowly vanishes.
The surrounding crowd, upon seeing such impossible scene became gob smacked as their jaw did their best to touch the floor. Even the princess couldn’t help but startled as she frantically turned her head to find him.
As Hein’s figure slowly melded in the darkness, a strong wind blew around the hall. Immediately after, a silhouette flickered through the air like an illusion.
Shing~
The silhouette that was very hard to recognize by the naked eye, swung his blade to the princess neck.
It should have spelled princess Aura’s doom, if not for the young man who disappeared a while ago suddenly reappeared before the princess as he took the blade with his bare hand.
Noticing his presence, the black clothed man was greatly startled.
“Y, you… who are you…?”
“Before asking someone else for their name, isn’t it common sense to give your own first?… well, not like I’m interested so you can just call me ‘you’ like before” Hein lightly said as he gripped the blade of the sword as if it were just a toy.

Sensing something amiss, the black clothed man tried to pull the sword but failed. He couldn’t even budge it even a little.
Seeing the change of events, the crowd became alarmed.
BOOM!
Not far from Hein, a very loud explosion suddenly occurred. Five black clothed men suddenly emerged from the smoke.
“What happened?”
“Assassins?”
The aristocrats and noblemen of the kingdom shouted angrily in a shaky voice which contained confusion and unrest.
Although there were people who already experience war and battles as veteran soldiers, they still couldn’t help but be confused at the sudden attack.
“Don’t panic! Fortified your position and attack the intruders!”
A relatively calm person gave out instruction to the others. He was giving out a majestic and heroic presence while holding a golden sword.
Behind him were the king and the queen. It seems like the real targets of the attackers were the royal family, especially the king however they were stopped and repelled by a lone person.
….That person is Draig Vilestone.
“As expected of father!” Hein unconsciously said as he watched the heroic figure of his father confronting 5 black clothed men.
Pulling the blade in his hand, his right foot smashed at the man’s abdomen, sending him flying.
“Lina, protect mom and the rest.”
“No! I can also fight!” Leviana objected, however her face was brimming with pride seeing his son and husband’s heroic figures.
“I can also fight…don’t treat me as a burden.” Princess Aura coldly objected.
Ignoring the icy princess, Hein turned his face towards his mother and said while revealing a confident smile, “Nope! Mom, let the men do their thing. Just enjoy the show where your son and husband smashed their faces on the floor”
“… fine”
“You too Aqua. Stay here and don’t let that block of ice step in the battle. Can you do it?” Hein instructed Aqua while pointing his finger to the first princess.
Seeing this, princess Aura was greatly enraged.
“How dare you call me that! You…” But before, she could finish saying something a wall of water suddenly appeared as it enclosed her and the people behind her. This was Aqua’s magic [ Water Barrier ].
“Give it up, my princess~ the battlefield is for knights and warriors. Even a princess such as you should never violate that sanctuary.”
Cracking his fist, small crimson flames appeared from Hein’s elbows and feet. Flames also appeared from his hair every now and then as if it was burning.

His steps only leaving a scorched shoe print.
“Hee~ I’m itching for a fight… Time to hunt some black dogs~” Hein muttered as he reveal a cold smile.
Nine black clothed men.
Using his skill [ Divine Vision ], he learned that these assassins were Demons. Six were level 59, two levels 71 and one level 39. It seems that the attackers were fairly high leveled.
However compared to his father Draig, a level 78 swordsman they were just a little short handed.
But what caught Hein’s attention were not the high leveled demons but rather the low leveled one.
The level 39 demon was no other than a demon princess.
As to why a demon princess like her was attacking directly a king, Hein couldn’t find head or tails about it.
The demons stopped their actions as they turned their attentions towards Hein who was casually walking towards them.
For some reason they couldn’t understand, they felt fear coming from their hearts when they saw him.
Flames that look like a living being covered the boy as if it were embracing him. They couldn’t help but step back a few steps as if trying to run away.
“[ Flame Arrows ]”
Shouted from one of the demon assassins. Dozens of flying arrows flew towards Hein but he just look at it without moving.
The flame arrows filled with discernible killing intent were now within 2 meters away from Hein, causing the surrounding people to envision an unavoidable tragedy, which only deepened the shock people felt.
However, their expectations were betrayed as the flying flame arrows suddenly stopped mid air and suddenly spread as the flames covered the boy’s little figure.
What everyone couldn’t believe is that, it seems as if the flames didn’t hurt the boy even a little. It’s even as if it was protecting him by covering his whole body as he continued to walk leisurely.
The demon that used the magic couldn’t help but be slack jawed. His eye widening that it’s a wonder that it didn’t fell off from its socket.
“Wha-!… what the hell happened?” Someone woodenly murmured.
“How is this possible!?” Another nameless individual muttered blankly.
“Monster!”
One of the demons said.
Casually waving his hands in front of him, the flames immediately died off. With a bemused smile, he lightly declares “Ah, pardon me. I forgot to say this but fire based magic can’t hurt me~”
One of the demon immediately casted another spell as he were stricken by panic. This time it was an earth based spell [ Rock Shot ].
Countless rocks immediately appeared and shoot towards Hein. This time, Hein inhaled air to his lungs.
“Roooaaarrr!” A dragon like roar resounded inside the hall. Hein timed the attack as he focused his roar to reflect the rocks travelling towards him.
Just like that, the rocks flew off somewhere, never to be seen again. On the other hand, although the roar deflected those rocks, it was still too strong to be negated as it sent the demons flying some distance away.
What nonsensical lung capacity compared to a human.
The surrounding people could only gasped in cold breath as they witnessed the jet black clothed, white haired boy.
Even the demons started shaking as their silhouettes flickered and surrounded the level 39 princess.
“Princess, leave this place immediately!” said one of the demon.
“No I can’t! I’m the one who dragged all of you here, so I can’t just run away alone!” The princess objected.
Although she said that, inside her she still felt incomparable fear. Not towards the strong swordsman but towards the mysterious monster – the white haired boy.
Although they already knew that there was a famed strong swordsman in the kingdom, they believe that they can still defeat him if they ganged up on him.
However, that plan was torn to pieces by the unexpected appearance of the monster.
Gritting her teeth, he drew her crimson colored sword as she took a stance. She was prepared to fight the boy when she was obstructed by her comrades.
“Princess, you can’t! You need to stay alive and return. With that, you can still have the chance to avenge us.” One of the demons said.
The demon princess stopped in her tracks.
Clicking her tongue, she turned around and dashed towards the open window. She knew that even if she joined the fight, nothing will change.
She can only grit her teeth and face the humiliation caused by this escape.
Turning her head once more, her eyes met Hein’s eyes. Although she can’t see his face clearly, she still vowed that they will surely meet again someday and in that day, she will make him pay for this debt.
