《HERO CHRONICLES:》Chapter 19: [ Death Dance with a BOSS ]
The BOSS frog once again prepared to attack me while chasing me.
“Do you think I will let you?”
I flipped myself upright and clasped down onto the sword in my hands. Dashing forward on the ground, I slid down towards its exposed stomach. With the claymore’s tip already near its stomach, I twisted my wrist and thrust it followed by the short sword making red lines on its wake. I bet the wound was so deep because I could see its being reduced greatly although it was a shame that my strength wasn’t still high enough or else I would have been able to inflict it with greater damage.
Whooosh!
Bringing back my sword, I started to run away again from the screeching BOSS frog and head towards the narrow corridor. In order to have a chance to kill this BOSS as well as increased my survival rate, I had to use the hit and run tactic.
But still, it still had at least around 98% health left. Dammit!
Truthfully speaking, if I just continuously strike it with my skills I can probably kill it easily but it would probably not give me the chance to use that many attacks because it could kill me merely with just 4-6 hits. It's not like it enjoyed being hit, you know~
It seems that the BOSS frog was now angry because it has already taken up its fighting stance. It seems I really might be in danger right now; its aura is quite something, very dangerous and formidable.
There’s no time to panic! Although even if I want to, it’s impossible. My unique skill seems keeping my feelings in check.
Oh well, it seems this fight will be exciting and worthwhile.
Stopping my escape, I once again prepared myself for a fight to the death. Hit and run tactic sure is better than foolishly attacking it head-on but for now if I drag this fight for too long I think that I’ll be the one to be in disadvantage.
Phew~
For some reason my body feels light. Although right now my body is only sleeping in a comfortable hospital bed, and this body of mine is only an imitation produced from hundreds of millions of information that was made from the system’s programs.
The elastic and roughness of my palms. The warmth that I feel while walking under the sun as well as the cold from the night and winter air. These things are only created from endless information’s and isn’t really real, thus one can consider that my body right now is nothing but a fake imitation of my real body.
But how can’t I differentiate my real body from this fake? The excitement and thrill surging inside me right now feels as if it’s real. Not to mention the wounds I've got before~
But then again how can you differentiate reality from virtual reality?
My instinct which is telling me to kill this ugly BOSS monster in front of me, the blood boiling of excitement because of the inevitable battle to the death. These feelings are without a doubt real.

I don’t care if this world is a virtual reality but right now what I wanted to do was to defeat the enemy in front of me and survive!
These thoughts are raging inside of me.
In order to grab the victory that excited my entire body, I will fight head-on! I don’t want to think about anything else. Right now the enemy in front of me is my everything!
I won’t run, I won’t yield! Betting everything to survive!
It was the first time I’m thinking like this! It was my first time going to a fight without a plan. Call me fool or stupid but right now I’m really all fired up!
Is this because my enemy is hundred times stronger than me? is it because it was now taking me seriously and going to fight me head-on?
This is not an unsightly delusion!
It is not a tiresome vanity!
It is my own selfish wish, because just once, in my entire life I want to fight an enemy head-on with all of my power!
Unlike the real world which I can’t ever do it, but in this world I can do things I can’t ever do outside. Adventures beyond my wildest dreams!
For the first time I appreciated this world.
Gripping my swords tightly, I revealed a cold smile.
----00----
“AAaaaaaaaaaahhhh!”
“Croooooaaaak!”
The final battle begins.
The BOSS frog fired its towards me.
I immediately stopped my advance, then flicking my foot; I put strength into my toes and dodged to the side of the fast approaching BOSS I viciously stabbed my claymore into its body and slashed the back of its neck with my short sword.
Peng!
The BOSS frog monster might have never thought that I would suddenly attack that way because it charged so fast that it didn’t had the time to stop itself. Due to its charging speed, my not-so-simple yet brilliant strike managed to firmly lodge into its flesh dealing enormous damage even though it has skin like steel.
“Croooooooak!”
The BOSS frog monster screeched in pain as it finally stopped in its tracks, but my swords was still firmly embedded in its body.
Raising its claws, the BOSS frog monster turned its body and attacks me.
Shit!
Quickly withdrawing my swords, I hastily moved it to block the incoming attack but the claw which is as hard as steel heavily smashed onto my swords and I was sent flying.
“guhu-!?” intense pain scour through me! “That freaking hurts you idiot frog!” I shouted.
Lowering its head, the BOSS used its strong legs and walked towards me while it bloodthirsty slit eyes stared at me and making low threatening growl of rage. Revolting saliva was dripping from its wide mouth and every contact of its saliva from the ground was excreting smoke as if the floor was melting.
That is definitely dangerous!
My current total health right now even after eating the was only 395 points; I will definitely die if I received major attacks from it coupled with
Narrowing my eyes and contracting my pupils, I stared at the without blinking. ‘Phew~’ exhaling, I gathered momentum in my body. I gripped the two swords in my hands and concentrated on my target.

“Hey BOSS Frog, they say human’s tend to become stronger when they are experiencing life and death situation, is that true?”
“Croaaaak!”
“Well, not like you can understand me though! hahahaha Let’s just see whether I can kill you before you can kill me, shall we?”
Maybe it can no longer bear my sharp glare or listen to my nonsense blabbering any longer, the angry suddenly attacked.
Although I can’t see my own reflection, I felt that my mouth revealed an unpleasant, cold smile.
I bent my legs a little bit and slowly poured magic in the claymore and short sword in my hands. I haven’t tested this before; in fact this is just an experiment on my part. When I was fighting those frogs a while ago, I noticed that whenever I used skills my sword always glowed in bluish lights so maybe if I put my inside it maybe I can do more amazing things is what I thought. Of course I have no knowledge in manipulating magic so I just made my own hypothesis.
Using my power of imagination, I used the concept of using which is used in the real world by many martial artists.
Whether this succeeds or fails; only heaven knows!
---00---
“Crooooooaaaaaaaakkkk!”
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
Our cries exploding and overlapping each other, indicating the signal of the starting final battle.
Sparks exploded out as we clashed head on and continued our battle. Wind bursts through the gap between our legs as we exchange blows with blows and each time my swords and its claws collide crimson light illuminated the place.
Peng!
Peng!
…..
Our battle continues without hitting each other, each times my perception became sharper and better my swings became faster and deadlier while we frequently exchange each other’s positions. Our four legs constantly trampled the ground and numerous of times we passed by each other.
This is the kind of fight I really love; fighting while discarding everything, only focusing our attentions towards each others, giving our all to defeat the enemy before us.
I can’t say for sure but I know that the BOSS frog also think like I am. Its eyes were telling me that he too, like me was also enjoying this fight.
Kahahahaha this is amazing! This is truly a wonderful world! Entertain me more!
Although that’s what I think, if by chance someone heard what I said I will be really hated and scorned.
As if I care….hahahahaha
Both of us were entangled together as our actions, attacks did not stop. Like a couple dancing under the blue moon, the cool and handsome me and the ugly and monstrous frog were like dancing waltz as each of our swings radiated with crimson and bluish light in the darkness.
Sigh~ I prefer dancing waltz with a very beautiful lady rather than a frog though~
‘But for now, I will kill you and win!’
Fiercely lifting my eyes, I injected willpower into my body. The word ‘Retreat’ or ‘Lose’ is no longer in my dictionary.
The BOSS frog’s monster-like power was indeed a threat, if I was to directly receive an attack, it will certainly a fatal blow for me, even just brushing past my body I would be somewhat paralyzed.
Utilizing my utmost speed and agility as well as my superhuman reflexes which are assisted by the world’s system, I have a chance!
Little by little my attacks were hitting the BOSS frog and its were slowly but surely reduced, as we were engaged in our heated close combat battle.
As for me, the BOSS frog’s deadly and fatal blows were dodged by me by paper margin. Fumu, aren’t I great? kukuku….although I said that, don’t you know it all took all of me just to barely dodge it all? If not for my unique skill and my outstanding footwork, I’m already dead a long time ago.
I pushed my forte which is my amazing speed and out worldly superhuman reflexes to the very limits. When the
BOSS frog attacks me with its claws, I would aim at the side and deflect it away. Causing the path of the attack that nearly kill me or hit me to pass by and allow my body to escape through the tiniest gaps. It was a turtle-shell like defense that do not allow even the slightest bit of carelessness.
But still the BOSS attack is really formidable. Its claws came at me repeatedly with a crushing might that felt like it could take my life with one hit.
“AHHHHHHHHH!”
Following my war-like cry, I made a continuous attack with my two swords. The BOSS frog’s attack was indeed heavy but fortunately its movements were still slower compared to mine in which I took advantage off. Probably because it was a BOSS monster which centered in its long range poisonous attacks and defense that its movements is slow. So long as it doesn’t hit, its nothing worth mentioning.
Therefore the BOSS frog’s attack will not hit me, no, I will not let it hit!
PENG! BACHIN!
Sounds of hitting steels resounded in the room as I slowly but surely manage to hit it. But still the defensive ability of this BOSS frog is really remarkable. I felt I was cutting steel. Basically, magic based attacks would be more effective than using sword but since I don’t have any magic skills so logically speaking I’m screwed!.....fortunately, I successfully created a new attack skill by covering my swords with magic so its twice effective than normal striking.
Aren’t I great!? kuhahahahaha I’m the greatest genius in the world!!!!.......just kidding~
A blue streak of light coming from my claymore flew through the air and struck the BOSS frog’s abdomen and I followed it with a vertical slash from my short sword, causing blue sparks to spray out as I kick its body while
jumping back ward to widen the distance between us.
I’m getting tired so let’s take a breath shall we!?

Dark Matter
In the year 2023, scientists investigating the nature of dark matter caused a blackout throughout the entire world of Coranth. With this blackout came the appearance of supernatural and near-magical elemental abilities able to be wielded by all. By harnessing the dark matter in the environment, even ordinary humans now accessed powers that would have been deemed fantasy. These abilities include Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water, and Terra, being the five natural elements of which dark matter is absorbed by the planet itself. Additionally, the two moons orbiting Coranth offer the "Superior" elements of Dark and Light. The year is now 2041, and Dark Matter will follow the story of an adolescent boy named Raiden Sullivan in a dystopian future, 16 years old, eldest of 2, and son to Marcus Sullivan. Raiden is an intelligent young man belonging to a poor family with an absentee mother. He partakes in daily chores to cover living expenses after school and his home life is surrounded by his caring father and younger sister. In truth, this is my take on urban fantasy with slight LitRPG that keeps the "magic" elements somewhat scientific for a more realistic story. In using the dark matter surrounding our universe, humans can now harness elemental abilities as well as absorb dark matter from the beasts/monsters to further strengthen their abilities. For the most part, that'll be the main premise of the power system. Full transparency, this will be the first story I write and also the first story I publish, so please be patient with me. For some context, I'm an avid reader and after 4 or so years of only consuming, I feel that it might be time to try my hand at writing instead. Please feel free to add your opinions and criticism, it would be much appreciated. With that said, I hope you enjoy Dark Matter!

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
