《HERO CHRONICLES:》Chapter 17: [ Mortal Combat with Giant Frogs ]

That’s foul play you know! I can’t fight four of them at the same time! And most of all one of them is a level 5 monster….it’s unfair!
As if a switch has been flipped, my heart started to calm down and my mind became clear all of a sudden.
Stop hero! There must be a way! We can do this!
Phew~
I took a deep breath and began to construct a plan.
For now I need to increase my attack damage. I opened my inventory and tap the short sword icon, slowly materializing in my left arm.
Now that I think about it, can I also appraise monsters?
“Apparaise!”
Ding!
Poison Fin Frog (Normal) Level 4
Health: 300/300
Skills:
-Poison Spit
-Poison Tongue
-Claw
-Cry
Ooooh! It work! Hahaha hm? What’s this cry?
Cry
When its HP dropped below 10 the will call for its companions which are still around the area.
I see so this is the cause of this terrible situation! What an unpleasant skill!
So I’ll just need to make sure I won’t give them a chance to use this! Ah there are also these Poison based attacks. I really need to watch out for these two skills: and . If I got hit just once it would be troublesome and it could also lead me to death.
Phew~
“Now then, Break time is over gentlemen”
““““Croak!””””
Taking a stance while holding the claymore in my right hand and short sword in my left hand, I prepared myself.
“I will grill you, you overly grown monster frogs!”
I won’t die, I will live and survive!
Steeling my resolve, I reversed my grip holding them backhanded and charged towards the monster frog located behind me.
First come first serve, fella’s!
The monster frogs started attacking me with their very troublesome, but unfortunately for them, dodging it was a small matter!
Hmpf! I’m unbeatable in dodge ball you know!
I’m very confident with my reflexes ever since I’m a child, coupled with my superhuman like reflexes given by my
in no way I will get hit by it!
Well, being careless is a different matter though.
As if seeing the trajectory line or the so called attack path, I manage to dodge them skillfully.
Hahaha try again suckers!...... no, no I’m sorry I got carried away so please don’t try it again please!
Successfully arriving in front of the biggest frog monster: Level 5, I fixed my stance.

“Way of the Dragon God Fourth Form: Battle Dance of the Mantis! Ahhhhhhhhh!”
The monster frog attacked me with its claws but I successfully blocked it with the short sword in my left hand while in backhanded grip. While blocking the monster frog’s attack, I slashed the monster with the claymore upward in my right hand.
“Croooaaak!”
The monster frog shrieked whether in pain or in rage as its blood was splash on my face. Various screens keep popping out, blocking my vision so I quickly swiped it to close.
The monster frog’s was reduced as my first attack successfully landed on its body.
The monster frog tried to jump away but I didn’t let it as I continuously attack.
As if I will let you recover!
Alternating with the short sword and the claymore, I keep attacking it.
Notification keeps popping out from vision but I ignored it and focused my attention towards the monster frog.
Then suddenly…
While I was attacking the monster I felt an immediate danger. I instantly stopped my attacks and made a horizontal dodging motion on my toes.
Boom!
A sudden explosion with purple-colored slime-like stuff scattered beneath the ground. It was the skill. If I have continued attacking without remorse, it would have been dangerous.
But still what was that!?
I know I have a very useful and out worldly superhuman reflexes but I shouldn’t have sense something behind me…..yet I did!
I was engrossed in my thought that I didn’t notice the Level 5 was behind me.
Wah--!?
Bang!
I was hit by its claw, fortunately in the last minute, because of my superhuman battle sense and reflexes, I was able to block the claw with my short sword and avoided a direct hit from it but still I was flung at the side and rammed in the wall.
“Aaargh! You bastard!” I nearly spat out some blood.
Shame on me, I forgot carelessness is a fatal weakness during a battle.
The level 5 monster was standing I front of me, its abdomen was swollen as if there was something in there---
Shit!
As soon as I realize what will happen I immediately leap away from my position. As expected, the level 5 monster launches a on my previous position and damn! It was far bigger than the level 4
If I get hit by it even once I don’t think I’ll get out unscathed!

This monster is really the real threat compared to the others. I focused my gaze at the red bar above its head which indicates it current fortunately I noticed that it was already become deep red while blinking. Meaning it already entered the critical state.
Happiness smeared in my whole face.
Holding the hilt of my claymore with my right hand and short sword at my left hand, I change them back and held them forehanded. I then took a little step forward with my right foot while maintaining my feet close to each other.
Lowering my waist I started to jump.
‘I will survive!’
Full of resolution and perseverance, I focused my gaze towards the in front of me.
Pushoooo!
again was fired at me. Sharpening my senses, I watch the coming so that I can predict where it will hit. Without averting my gaze I looked at the when suddenly….
I saw it!
Even if it was only a second I saw grey-colored lines coming from
Without understanding what just happened, I turned around my body avoiding the grey lines I saw just a while ago and then I kicked the wall. With an elegant twirl, I landed at the back of the level 5
I did it I successfully avoided all of it! Hahaha now it’s your time to die you monster!
Bang!
I swing my claymore and short sword nonstop at the back of the frog not giving it a chance to counter attack or recover.
With its dropped to zero, the level 5 fell in the ground and disappear.
One down three to go!
Pakin!
Once again I felt something dangerous; it felt as if something is coming from a very direction. I quickly used my skill truthfully I really don’t like to use this skill for now because of its high consumption of in my current capacity, so I was saving this for the last moment.
My vision went blank for a second and when I open it I was already at the back of the two monster frog.
Slashing towards their backs, my hands were flying around, parrying their claws and striking at the same time.
You have dealt a critical strike.
You deal consecutive critical strikes.
Your continuous attack succeeded. Do you want to save the series of strikes?
Through continuous attacking, I never realized I was already dealing a series of critical strikes. I once read in a virtual world guide lines that in this game, if you were to deal an exceptional series of strikes in an enemy you would be able to save it.
Why?
Well, if you can successfully save it then you can later use it at will as an individual technique. You might even improve it. However I don’t need such thing. My martial art is enough for me and even so for me, I prefer fighting in an unpredictable and extraordinary battle which I can act what my instinct tells me to. Using unrefined fixed techniques: well, aside from the martial art I learned, it will just restrain you. So I just quickly dismissed it to regain my focus in the battle.
Strangely enough, during the fight I regain some points of my when I was hit by the monster’s claw during our rally. I was bewildered by it when I remembered the ring I got from my battle with the a while back.
Surely this is really useful!
I was trying to move as fast as possible but when I was attacking the monster frog another was already attacking me so I quickly jump away to distance myself.
Bang!
I kicked the monster frog’s stomach as I flipped in mid-air and landed in the ground gaining some distance.
“Croooaaak!”
The monster frog roared in anger and charged towards me.
That’s good come!
Seeing that only one frog chased me, I put some strength in my feet and launched myself towards it.
The monster frog extended its claw and attacks me, but I avoided it easily by sidestepping and slashed its hand off, cutting it away.
Hahaha don’t you know I have confident in my footwork idiot~
That old geezer drilled that on me while saying ‘Footwork is the foundation of martial arts’
As if I’ll lose!
Losing its hand, the monster frog shrieked in pain. My chance had come!
Bang!
I kicked its stomach and then followed by countless slashes by my two swords. I didn’t gave it a chance to recover
“Aaaaaaaaah!”
After a few swing of my swords, finally the monster fell down and disappeared.
“Huff Huff Huff”
Gasping my breath I let out a satisfied smile.
But then…
I felt it again! But this time it was stronger. It’s as if my mind was screaming ‘This place is dangerous!’ or ‘Get away
immediately!’
Buzzzzz!

How to have fun in an apocalypse (Rewrite)
After spending an unsavory amount of time in hell, our protagonist finally manages to escape the place that had kept him captive for so long... again. Unfortunately, even after plotting and planning for years, he ends up in a place not much different from the burning and agonizing Tartarus he once had to call home. Guts, blood, and carnage start to reign over Earth as soon as he set foot in it, much to his dismay. What use is it to cry over spilled milk, though? Tired of the monotony of endless torture, he steps into the world intending to have as much fun as possible. While others might try to raid the Orc Lord with as many people as possible, why not challenge him to an arm-wrestling tournament? The power of friendship will surely be on his side. Why hide from the big, bad wolf in one of your houses if wearing camo in plain sight should have the same effect? Now, making friends and going on adventures would be perfectly fine, if it wasn't for the fact that he hides a few more secrets than one might think at first. This is a complete rewrite! Due to being unsatisfied with the previous version, I have decided to work the story up, beginning from the older chapters! Version 2.0 includes: - enhanced writing and editorial skills - additional information and aspects to characters - minor deviation from storyline and improvements
