《HERO CHRONICLES:》Chapter 14: [ Phoenix Rest ]

H-Glyphics or Hero-Glyphics! This is the letters I made and constructed when I was still in middle school because the class was so boring I could sleep. I made them for fun and at that time I thought It was so cool because It feels like
I’m making codes although I only completed it with the help of a strange old man who always visit in the orphanage, but this …. just why the hell is this writings here?
I should be the only one who knows this! why!? although there is also the strange old man but ..... .no it's impossible that old man is just like any ordinary old man... probably! but .... but ....
As I traced the writings in the tree with my fingers, I slowly read it
“By the Mysteries of the Depths, the raging bird of fire
Beheld to the prowess of the mighty phoenix
As represented by Death and Rebirth, thee have been know
With its might and eternal beauty
I summon thee divine bird of fire, envenomed in the darkness of the world
Do become the light of this unending path, and enveloped
This world with your grace and power once again
You who was once known as the demon that burned the sinners,
Or god that gives eternal life
Attend now my calling and show thyself in a form you so desire!”
“Y-you, you can read th----“Kruaaaaaaaaah!”—is!?”
Lefeana turned in surprise. She started saying something but it was too late. The ground grumbled and a shrill cry resounded in the place.
The big tree suddenly glowed with a crimson light and a fire that looks like a bird came out from it. The fire bird soared through the sky then turned towards us --- no me.
It was too late to react because the fire bird descended and in an instant enveloped me with its fire.
I couldn’t move my body but strangely enough, the fire that was enveloping me isn’t hot nor I felt I was burning instead I felt very comfortable.
I hear Lefeana’s desperate voice from my side but sadly to say I couldn’t respond and even say ‘I’m fine’
---Then my consciousness eventually melted into darkness.
---00---
How to describe it? hmm, it certainly is not a nightmare. It was much more real and more frightening than a nightmare.
My consciousness remained steadfast and didn’t change in anyway, that’s until I finally noticed it. I can certainly remember that last scene right before losing consciousness. I was engulfed with fire after I finished reading those H-Glyphics.it happened too fast that I couldn’t follow and can only stay still.
And then after that I fell unconscious or that was supposed to be but right now I was experiencing something that is very hard to explain.

As I slept, I felt myself go weightless. Then I drifted up, turned, and saw my own body engulfed with fire from below.
Am I dying, I thought. But that wasn’t it either. I wasn’t a ghost. I had new shimmering crimson colored wings in my back. I look like some kind of bird.
I knew I wasn’t dreaming because I don’t dream in color and I certainly don’t dream in all five senses.
Then like a puppet that has its strings cut I fell into oblivion and completely lost my consciousness.
---00---
I heard a small noise and woke up.
When I opened my eyes, what greeted me was an unfamiliar ceiling filled with dirt and cobwebs.
The surrounding area is dark and narrow.
“This place is …..”
As I sit at the very edge of the room, I recline against the wall behind me and fix my gaze on what lies before me.
Before me was a very long room --- eh no a corridor actually.
I couldn’t see the corridor very clearly because of the darkness which felt ---- emptier in front of me. There was a warm breeze, like a subway tunnels, though only it felt older more like ancient and more dangerous somehow.
I look around and noticed that the room I’m in was like a very confining space, with no windows or furniture.
What a dull room --- I thought.
Just where the hell am I?
I held my head with my hands while wondering where I was.
Recall it Hero, recall just what the heck happened!
…. and then I remembered.
Just a while ago, I was doing a quest; to find the inside the then I accidentally found and entered the and met the cute magical beasts, Rabbi, and Lefeana. Then she told me she’ll give me to complete my quest.
And then …
Ah! Right there was that strange magic circle and then that H-Glyphics I made back in my middle school. Shit now that I think about it, just why the hell did that H-Glyphics even inside this Virtual world? I should be the only one who
knows how to write it!
“Groooooooaaaaarrrrr!”
“W-what was that!?”
That unexpected ominous roar caused the hair in my whole body to stand up.
There is something here!
I immediately stand up and prepared myself.
That roar came from the corridor before me.
Gulp!
Oh god! Just where the hell did I ended up to again!?
I just came in this scary forest to complete my quest yet why the hell am I always dragged to somewhere I don’t know!
“Groooooooaaaaarrrrr!”
That scary roar again!
I’ve really came into a very dangerous place am I!?

As I was grimacing my misfortune a familiar sound resounded.
Ding!

Current Floor: 3rd floor Safe Zone
Caution: Due to special circumstances, you cannot leave this dungeon if you can’t defeat the Dungeon Guardian!
Are you shitting me!?
“Hey, don’t joke around! I don’t know what this dungeon guardian looks like or how high-leveled monster it is but I’ll tell you…. I’M JUST A FREAKING NOOB!
What the hell, you want me to defeat that monster!? That’s freaking impossible! I’m just a level three noob for heaven’s sake! Don’t make me do things that are impossible for me!”
Oh so beautiful and benevolent goddess, I don’t know what you want but do you really hate me that much!? do you really want me to die?
Huhuhu and here I thought maybe … just maybe you like me! T-T
In all fours, I kept pounding on the ground with tears falling in my eyes.
Damn you reality! I’m inside the virtual world you know, so just give me a break will you! can’t you just allow my own little delusion a bit longer!
At the beginning, I didn’t care a lot about fortune.
Why would I?
Although I didn’t really care, I never thought of myself as unlucky before. With most Luck compared to other players, would you think you’re unlucky?
But after entering this terrible and scary forest, I started to change my mind.
I was now starting to doubt if values has really meanings, I mean maybe the numerical values of my are all just baseless numbers because right now, with all those things I’ve experience ever since I’ve arrived in the forest, perhaps I might be really unlucky!
Who heard about a player entering a forest for the first time accidentally encountered a ?
Now I’m once again inside a very scary place with who-knows what scary monster is waiting for me and I can’t even get out before defeating it!
Huhuhu Mother I wish I could have eaten your homemade foods for the last time! T-T
After a while, the fear and anxiety inside of me all washed out and disappeared instantly.
Stop! I told myself. I don’t have time for grief nor grimaced because of my misfortune.
Remember, Hero you still have something to do! You must become strong to protect the people you want to protect.
As I steeled my resolve the gears inside of my brain started working in fast pace.
Then, I suddenly felt a deep hostile feeling that was coming from the corridor.
I stand up and look through the dark corridor.
----shit!
There is really something terrible at the end of this dark and ominous-looking corridor, and this sensation made me feel really bad.
Even though my body was somewhat tired, my senses recovered in an instant. Jitters filled my body to the extremity of my fingers.
I remembered this feeling! It’s like when I encountered a very dangerous enemy and because of my unique skill, my body always naturally entered into fighting mode.
Gulp!
Though I am uneasy, I must somehow keep on moving forward.
I walked slowly towards the corridor. During times like this, I’m really glad I have these unique skills.
The corridor looked nothing like what I saw when I was still in that old room. As I was walking through this long corridor, I noticed that it looks like a sewer constructed of red brick, rather than a tunnel.
I thought I heard voices ahead of me but it may have been just the cold wind.
If only I can cast magic, I really want light in here, it’s pretty dark you know!
Now that I think about it, I had once read something like this before. It was a book about an adventurer who went
inside a maze.
The adventurer keeps his one hand on the left wall to follow it so that he would be able find his way out again by reversing the course.
Following what the adventurer did, I also keep my hand on the left wall.
After a while, I found a door and I could hear some slight noises coming from the inside.
Preparing my short sword on my right hand and the old dagger in my left, I opened the door and was surprised by what was happening inside.
Two goblins were dancing while holding a spear, wriggling their waists and butt and five more goblins were sitting while clapping their hands and laughing towards the two goblins.
Then they suddenly noticed me.
For a moment, we only stared at each other.
And then…
“Sorry, I entered the wrong room. Ahahaha nice dance by the way…then bye!”
Without a second thought, I turned and walked out.
“Human! Die!”
“Intruders!? Human! die! This! territory!”
“Die!”
The goblins stand up and hurriedly chased me and attacked.
I immediately turned my body; one of the goblins spear flew across my face.
Phew! Safe… that attack scared the hell out of me.
Goblin LVL 2
“Bastards, I really preferred if you all just dance merrily, you know!”
