《Vengeful Martial God》Chapter 3: Profound Laws and Wedding

Eventually, two weeks had passed with Ye Meng keeping up his daily drunk persona to gather information. He found a lot of interesting things such as rumours about the Wang Clan Patriarch in secluded meditation until the wedding. Ye Meng was currently in his room cultivating while taking pills when suddenly, a large amount of Qi came rushing towards Ye Meng like a whirlpool. Time slowly passed and the large amount of Qi dissipated. Ye Meng opened his dark black eyes and he exclaimed, “Finally, I reached the Foundation Building stage!”
Ye Meng would’ve taken longer to reach Foundation Building if he didn’t have The Godking's Breath which helps pass through bottlenecks and expensive pills made for cultivators many stages ahead of him. Ye Qing exclaimed,“Finally brat! Now since you can have an elemental affinity I can tell you the secret!”
Elemental affinity is a rare thing that awakens in only the top geniuses in the mortal realm. Elemental affinity determines which Elemental Dao you have the highest comprehension speed in. Ye Qing purposely didn’t give the secret to Ye Meng so he was very confused, “I already know that elemental affinity determines my Dao. So that’s the big secret?!”
Ye Qing sighed and said, ‘Hmph! Do you think Daos are all powerful?! This secret is a level above the Daos! Even if you completely understand a Dao you won't be able to fight again a person if they've comprehended a portion of this.”
Ye Meng was completely shocked as even in the Immortal Realm people who have completely completely comprehended Daos are a handful. He started panting and excitedly said, “Tell me the secret!”
“Calm down brat, you need to learn patience. Never tell this secret to ANYBODY who isn’t 100% in your control because this secret can change the fate of this world.”
Ye Meng was quite suprised, “Change the entire fate of this world?! How big of a secret is it?!” He thought.
“There are two parts to this secret, the first secret is something that everyone who has reached the upper stages of cultivation in the Immortal Realm knows, there is a realm above the Immortal Realm called the God Realm and we can ascend to there with enough Qi. The second part of the secret can change the entire way people look at the world. The world is governed by Laws and in the God Realm, the people use the power of Laws to fight. The Laws are the laws of the universe and Daos are just different simplified branches of Laws. Laws are immeasurably deep and even though I’ve known been trying to comprehend Laws for a million years I daresay that I’ve even comprehended a single percent! But when I apply the single percent of the laws I’ve comprehended in battle, I can say that I can kill a cultivator of the same stage with a single move!
I found all this information in some ancient ruins I’ve visited. I’ve comprehended the Profound Laws of Water because I personally found it the easiest but some other people were better versed in Fire, Life and Death. If the mortal realm knows about this, then the ones who have better comprehension will be the ones on top.”
As soon as Ye Meng heard it, he was rendered speechless. He remembered those geniuses of the Jade Mountain Sect who have gotten a hint of insight in a Dao. They could beat people on the same stage as them without much effort just because of their Daos. Imagine if he could comprehend a Law which is above a Dao! What could he do then? His blood started boiling at the thought of all the power, “Are you gonna teach me how to comprehend Laws? And can you use your memories to help me learn them?”

Ye Qian disdainfully laughed and he angrily said, “Hmph! If it took me so long to comprehend so little of the Profound Laws of Water, then how long do you think it’ll take for you? Anyways, Laws are gained by reaching enlightenment! Memories are just guidelines, they can’t guide you on how to gain enlightenment!”
Ye Meng confidently said, “We’ll never know if we don’t try! I might be a genius at
comprehension.” The reason why Ye Meng was so confident was because of his previous knowledge from Earth! Ye Meng was awfully confident because he still remembered about science from his past life. Ye Meng thought the Laws were just another name for science but he was partially wrong.
“Sigh, this brat is too confident…. Whatever, I’ll just crush his hopes and dreams right here instead of causing him to be obsessed.” Ye Qian thought. “Okay brat, let’s first find a lake and then sit in a lotus position underwater. Everyone who has the bloodline of the mighty Ye Clan has a water elemental affinity.”
Ye Meng quickly left the city at night and spent half a day to enter the Magical Beast Range.
Ye Meng used his superhuman hearing he got from reaching the first stage of The Sovereign’s Body to find water. It takes him a couple of minutes but he finds a lake and immediately jumps into it. He uses Qi to make sure he sinks and reaches the bottom. He slowly sinks until he reaches the bottom of the lake and adjusts his position so until he’s sitting in a lotus position. “Now what do I do?” he asks his teacher. “Now just think about water around you and think about the deep mysteries in water."
Ye Meng felt very awkward because just by taking a class he knew the answer to all of those so called ‘mysteries’. Ye Qing would probably cough up blood if he knew that Ye Meng was forced to learn them. He meditated and pondered those questions but surprisingly, he didn’t instantly comprehend them like he thought he would. By using the science he learned from Earth as a foundation, he started his comprehension. He comprehended the Laws awfully slow in his opinion but if other people knew he thought his process was slow, they would’ve died with shame right there. His speed was insane but not as Ye Meng expected but how could he have known that the Laws are different in this world because Qi alters the way science works. When other people tried comprehending Laws it was like painting an image until you get the image correctly, but they don’t know what the image is. But for Ye Meng, he was just solving a puzzle with some of the pieces missing so he had to make his own pieces. He sat in the position for an unknown amount of time. Slowly time passed, minutes turned into hours, hours into days and days into weeks.
Ye Qian was watching all this while cursing, “Fuck! How could have this guy fallen into a state of enlightenment right there? Right when I said that he wasn’t going to comprehend anything, he falls into a state of enlightenment. Now, I’ve lost all face as a senior since I’ve told him that he won’t comprehend anything. I’ve had states of enlightenment lasting minutes and hours but an enlightenment lasting weeks is heaven defying!”
Unbeknownst to Ye Meng, 1 and a half months had already passed in the blink of an eye. Suddenly, Ye Meng opened his eyes that were filled with profoundness and wisdom like a Buddha’s. He touched his robes and felt that they were dry due to him unknowingly applying the Laws on his robes. He waved his hand and the lake parted like Moses did with the Red Sea. His movements were fluid and very flexible like water. “Holy shit, Moses must’ve been a cultivator too! No wonder he could part the Red Sea.” thought Ye Meng.

“Hey old man, do you wanna see how much I’ve comprehended? I bet I understand the Profound Laws of Water ”
“My name’s not old man! Anyways brat, you might’ve just gotten lucky, the next time you won’t be so lucky.”
“Then why don’t we just compare insights? I’m sure I have at least a tenth of your insight.”
“Hmph! I haven’t lost all sense of shame to compare with a junior.”
“That’s just an excuse because you know my comprehension is amazing. Anyways, how long was I meditating?”
“You’ve been meditating for 1 and a half months! The wedding should be tomorrow!”
Ye Meng felt dizzy when he heard Ye Qian, he thought spending months in meditation like in Xianxia novels was impossible but he did just that. “1 and a half months!?!” He yelled out to Ye Qian who was looking down on Ye Meng. “If you think that 6 weeks of secluded meditation is a lot then wait till you reach my level. Training for 70,000 years in one go isn’t much in the Immortal Realm.”
Ye Meng felt even more dizzy when he thought about 70,000 years. He hasn’t even lived for 100 years and yet the old man was talking about spending 70,000 years practicing.
Ye Meng knew that he could get back to the city in half a day so he decided to apply his Laws to his techniques. He felt confident in handling a Divine Sea magical beast so he went around looking for one. He searched for a couple of hours until he found a Vermillion Fire Eagle. Upon seeing the lone cultivator, the eagle had an unknown hatred towards him probably because Ye Meng’s elemental attribute is the exact opposite of the eagle’s. The Vermillion Fire Eagle shrieked and descended from the skies like an arrow towards Ye Meng. Ye Meng barely avoided the eagle by a hair’s breadth by slightly moving to the side in the last second. The magical beast kept trying to hit Ye Meng but the answer was always the same, Ye Meng dodged it with a hair’s breadth without even counterattacking. “Hmmm… So the Profound Laws of Water makes my movements fluid like water. Using flexibility and targeting weaknesses is truly the essence of water!“ he thought.
The Vermillion Fire Eagle was enraged, never had a human with a low level of cultivation made a fool of him. With his eyes containing an arrogant intelligence, he carefully retreated and thought of ways to counter Ye Meng. He thought of the perfect move and this time, he flew at an even greater speed towards Ye Meng. Just when Ye Meng was about to dodge the same way, the eagle’s wings suddenly caught ablaze with bright orange fire and he flapped his wings towards Ye Meng. The fire made the form of a giant phoenix and surrounded Ye Meng with it’s powerful wings entrapping him in the fierce blaze that slowly tempered his body. Upon seeing the trap he was put in, Ye Meng sneered and found the weak spot of the attack with moderate difficulty. One Sword to Slay Immortals! He slashed with his sword with 7 Swords to Slay Gods that seemed to be flow like a raging stream towards a waterfall.
7 Swords to Slay Gods required an insane amount of Qi that Ye Meng didn’t have but he could make a weaker version of it by using a lot less Qi. He still required a large amount due to his low cultivation base though. One Sword to Kill Immortals was the first move of the technique and the only move Ye Meng could use as it required tons of Qi. Although Ye Meng’s cultivation base was low, he used his strength to forcefully throw the Qi with the strength of hundreds of thousands of jins. A thin brilliant blue wave of Qi moved towards the phoenix and completely cut it in half. The eagle used a lot of Qi to trap Ye Meng so when he saw Ye Meng easily break it in half, he felt scared and immediately tried to flee. What he didn’t see was that the blue wave of Qi changed its trajectory and flew towards him. It instantly severed a wing and made him drop from the skies like a bird shot by an archery expert. Sha! Sha! Ye Meng made another 2 slashes of One Sword to Slay Immortals that aimed directly for the eagle. The eagle was instantly ripped into shreds after letting out a mournful screech.
Ye Meng jumped up and snatched it’s magical core while slightly panting. “Brat, you used up too much Qi in that battle, although One Sword to Slay Immortals is powerful, it requires around 30% of your current Qi each time you use it. Even a peak Divine Sea cultivator won’t dare to neglect your attack but you have to use them carefully. It doesn’t matter if you injure them if you don’t have any Qi left.” nagged Ye Qing.
Ye Meng put the core in his backpack and said a word of thanks to Ye Qing. He had barely 10% of his Qi left so he slowly made his way back to the city after washing up. His movements were a lot faster and used the slightest of touches to move the farthest. He saw a couple of deadly beasts in the Magical Beast Range which didn't seem like a coincedence like last time.
The whole city was in a festive mood due to two of the biggest clans having an alliance. No matter what city it is, people will always feel tense when there are two big powers facing off against each other. Ye Meng put on his drunk persona and watched the wedding from on top of a building far away. He had his bow out and an arrow notched ready to fire. Some time passed and he saw a handsome young man who he assumed to be Mu Donghai and a group of people following him while the Mu Clan cheered. Ye Meng saw the Mu Clan Patriarch and the Wang Clan Patriarch looking happy but he knew that the Mu Clan Patriarch would be the happiest after this wedding. He kept his bow ready and he saw the beautiful Wang Biyu come out shortly after with her bridesmaids. Members from the Wang Clan cheered when they saw her. They did the ceremony and when the couple were about to kiss when suddenly, an arrow flew into Wang Biyu’s back and pierced through her heart.
In an instant, 3 other arrows imbued with the Profound Mysterious of Water hit 3 elders of the Wang Clan and instantly killed them. The Wang Clan Patriarch, Wang Yan had a grim expression on his face. Although if he revealed his true cultivation base it’d draw too much attention, it might save a few more Wang Clan members’ lives. People screamed and ran around while Ye Meng occasionally shot some Mu Clan members that were hidden traitors. Wang Yan quickly scanned for enemies but he couldn’t find any without revealing his true strength.
Ye Meng saw the Mu Clan Patriarch and he gave him a thumbs up and suddenly, the aura of a Divine Sea cultivator came from the Mu Clan’s Patriarch, Mu Chen. Wang Yan was currently shocked, never in a million years did he expert that Mu Chen would become a Divine Sea warrior. “Haha! Wang Yan, the era of the Wang Clan ruling Soaring Dragon City shall end today!”
Mu Chen threw a earth shattering punch at Wang Yan but right when it was about to hit, the aura of a peak Divine Sea cultivator emerged from Wang Yan. Wang Yan sneered and threw a fist to counter his opponent’s fist. Wang Yan easily overpowered Mu Chen in a couple of moves resulting in Mu Chen with heavy injuries. Ye Meng had given expensive pills to Mu Chen so he could take care of Wang Yan while he slowly killed Wang Clan members but sadly, things didn’t go as he thought it’d be. “Haha Mu Chen, it’ll be your Mu Clan who’ll end up with their entire 9 generations slaughtered after I’m finished with you and that little worm in the corner of my eye.”
After saying that, Wang Yan looked directly at Ye Meng’s current position with a provocative smile on his twisted face. “Shit! I can’t handle a peak Divine Sea cultivator! I need to run" Ye Meng thought. He tried to run away but Wang Yan was currently faster than him. Ye Meng had ran to the outskirts of the city when suddenly an old figure descended upon him. "Hmph! Killing my family yet thinking of escaping? You're courting death!"

NOTE: A review on this fiction has indicated that certain themes were traumatizing. While I believe this to be exagerated, I have added the appropriate tag for those who may be sensitive to those themes (fever dreams, delusions, and trials and tribulations).
8 154Limits
Have you ever considered, what is a Limit? Well, I have. I’ve seen people who were as strong, as wild animals. Those that were faster than the wind. Some that shined with intellect. Yet, what are the Limits of mankind’s strength, or intelligence? No one seems to know. We develop more and more, seemingly without an end. What if, someone was the smartest in the world? Would that suggest the Limit? What if, someone was the strongest in the world? Would that be the Limit? Would that make that someone, more than a Human? These are just questions, but what if I saw people reach their Limits? What if I know what happens, when you break the Limits? What if I were to tell you about it, would you believe me? (This novel is no longer published on royal road. If you wish to read more than 1st volume, head to webnovel. That is all)
