Chapter 5 – New Body

Killing hundreds of slimes here and there, while avoiding humans as much as I could. "I would prefer not to be target or be caught by those human and be their light in the lamp or something!" as I recollect what the Guardian Wisp said to me. "I don't know what humans do to wisps, and I don't plan to know. I have to concentrate on surviving and leveling up."

After gathering a lot of monster core, and absorbed it I now stepped up to a higher rank.

If only I have a mouth, this entire floor will be filled with my malevolent laughter. I'm pleased with myself as I'm getting stronger and stronger, yet this is only a small baby step to achieve my objective.

I checked my stats and it even made me more satisfied.

“Since I've ranked up, let’s attempt to possess somebody.”

I positioned myself beside the passageway of the second floor, I didn't forget to "turn off" my lights to shroud myself, and be similar to a shadow in this dark room. Minutes went by and still nobody was coming down to the second floor, I got bored of waiting so I killed few slime that wonder close to my position.

Hours went by and I heard a group of individuals talking. I took a peek at the passageway and I saw around 4 to 6 persons holding burns and was very much furnished with full set of heavy armor. I got terrified and find a spot to stow away. I can feel that they are strong; in a moment my "beast sense" kicked in and helped me to survive. As the group of individuals moves away and deeper into the room, I'm still trembling in fear and I was struggling to calm myself. Little by little, I took little breaths of air and manage to relax.

I felt anger to myself for being a weakling, however I can't helped it. I know I'm used to pain and agony, being hit with a bottle of beer all the time with your alcoholic father, being slapped and smack at the face by your insane mother, being beaten and having broken bones for being denounced by your own parents. I've known torment since I was small, a few individuals say that the pain will make you stronger, yet it doesn't apply to every one of us. They say that no one but God can mend your soul, heal your wounds and ease your pain, however where was God when I need him, where was God when I'm being beat up, burned and bleeding.? And when I'm having a Family, when I'm having a life, God sent me to this world, just to get killed and be a frail creature. I'm frantic for being here, for being a beast, and I'm angry at God.

I released all my anger at the slimes, and slaughter all of them. Twinkling lights can be seen at the floor from the creature’s cores that was everywhere. I was currently in a calm state and began grabbing the monster cores. I was surprised when I heard somebody with an optimistic voice and I forgot what I was trying to do. I forgot to wait at the passageway of the second floor for someone to possess. I rapidly went close to the entrance of the room and there I saw a human, a youthful teenage kid that was cheerfully grabbing my loot.

"What a lucky day, some strong adventurer probably killed a considerable number of slime for me to pick and collect these monster cores. I won't waste any energy battling this weak monsters, this core will at least be 5 copper coin per piece, easy money HAHAHA!!!." –Kid.

I slowly get behind of this Kid and utilized my ability 「Soul Possession」. Like the first time when I've used it, my consciousness was beginning to enter the children body. I crossed my fingers for good fortunes *just an expression*, yet just a notice sign showed up. That I can't have his body, that he has a higher rank than me as I attempted different times and wind up using 3/4 of my mana.

I got tired of trying, and I got furious for failing as I quickly went back to a darker part of the room to hide.

"What was that!? Out of the blue I got dizzy, and there was something that move rapidly far from me, tsk! It's getting risky I have to get back quickly" – Kid

And the kid quickly gets all the cores that his hands can carry, and keep running back to the staircase up to the 1st floor.

*crack* Sounds of wall being hit sounded the room.

"ARRRGHHH!! I can't believe this; I've failed to possess that child!! People doesn't have ranks by what method would he be able to have higher rank than me?? . . . . Hold up, if I recall, in a game there are people with ranks, and those are explorers/adventurers. So does this imply that the kid has a higher rank than me?? *sigh*"

I continue to think about rpg games that I've played, and beyond any doubt this world has similarities, yet I can't generally know everything if I only based it on games. This world is different; this is no more like a game. I have to remain calm and concentrate on surviving.

I went back to the place where the kid was gathering my loot, the kid was nowhere to be found but there were still some monster cores so I grab them and put it inside my body.

After that, I rapidly wander around to find another monster and to try my 「Soul Possession」 ability. I at last found the monster that I'm searching for, It was a yellow slime, the strongest slime of the all the slime in the second floor. It has the highest Health and damage to my 「Holy Guard」. The yellow slime additionally has lighting qualities, and this slime was also rare to be seen. This sludge takes 2 hit to die; I hit it once and attempted 「Soul Possession」. I was beginning to enter its body, and then all of a sudden my vision went dark.

"So this is what it looks like inside something else's body."

I take a look at my body and it appears as though I'm giving a much brighter light than my wisp's body. The feeling was like when I passed on, I feel like an apparition in an unfilled dull space. I glanced around and found a small light; I went close it and look at it. It would appear that a bead of water then it moved like a slime. At that point I realized this was the consciousness of the slime that I had, this little bead was just his spirit. "I'm sorry, and thank you, I'll try to have great use of this body." I reached it with my arm and squeeze it.

I was turning in bliss. I went to a spot where I can stow away to examine the changes of my body and some of my new skills.
