《In My Head》Chapter 4 Some light sabotage and a dress

While Kale stood there waiting I slowly rose, reaching out to push through the barrier that was supposed to keep me contained. It gave the slightest resistance to my hand, making a pretty light as it did so.

As I reached through though my happy head voices kept on with their banter. A pair of them were going on about bananas... for some reason. One was giving advice about making sure I looked good while doing whatever I was going to. The last though, the last had some actual information to impart.

While I really, REALLY wanted to eat this little prick doing so now may indeed cause me some issues. I had no good way to be rid of the body, and while I thought I might be able to cover up my involvement that was by no means a sure thing. There were some things I could do though.

Reaching my hand out I grabbed up the book he'd been using to make the conjuring circle that I was currently trapped in. I found, to my relief that I could read it and understand at least some of what it was saying. There was also a piece of chalk, that which he'd used to write it nearby and I decided that I'd make a few quick moves.

First was to change the page that the book was on. I needed to muddy the waters on my origin as much as possible to hide what exactly I was. While I was unsure, my guess was that since I wanted to eat them, and they thought I was human, that it might cause issues if they knew I was actually a vampire. The book didn't say vampire, but adding confusion could only help me.

That done I carefully erased some of the runes on the part of the spell around me that was designed for conjuration. I wasn't sure that I could make it look like a summoning spell, but I could certainly screw it up. I picked some more runes at random from the book and added them into the spots where I'd made holes. For good measure I even screwed up a few of the other runes on the circle. Minor things like a small bit here or there.

Once that was all done I placed the book and chalk back where they belonged, trying to make it look like I'd done nothing at all. I knelt down in my circle while I waited for Shana to return. Kale didn't seem to notice anything, staring hard at the door and humming to himself lightly. I counted myself lucky that he was apparently an idiot.

I didn't have to wait long. Shana returned with a dress in hand, a simple number in a dark green color that really seemed to match well with my hair. I gave her a big smile and she looked at the circle on the floor.

"Good grief what a mess. Okay, I'm going to break this so you can get out, not that it looks like it'd hold anything anyway, but just to be safe." With one hand she rubbed out part of the design on the containment spell. You could easily see where it was supposed to connect, but with the connection broken I could feel it's power die.

I stepped out with a smile and she handed me the garment, which I happily put on. "Thank you, so, what now?"

"Well, now I go and grab Magus Victor from where he's waiting in the hall and we figure that out." Shana turned to the door and slipped out, her words had caused Kale to pale.
