《Arrogance is justice!?》Chapter 9- Halberd is arrogant! Why not a spear?

Author note; Try not to rush too much. I realize this should be about arrogant sun jiao and not arena fights so I'm trying to get through this and get to Sun Jiao learning how to fight and make arrogant choices. Some of you might not think Sun Qing is all that dangerous, but Xiaobo will show you how close Sun Jiao comes to getting himself, xu rong, and everyone in the arena killed once he wakes up. He'll also explain some of Sun Qing's odd seemingly shy behavior around the maids. It's not shyness but arrogance so I declare.
---
"B-b-big brother! How could you! *sniff*"
Sun Jiao's hands slowed and came to rest on Xu Rong's waist. He turned to look at Sun Qinq acting as indifferently as possible
which was very difficult.
Her beautiful blue eyes were full tears and looked as though they were two unfathomably deep lakes surrounded by pure white snow like skin. A single tear slowly fell from her eye and came to rest on her beauty mark causing the mark to radiate deep sadness.
The two maids near Sun Jiao, who had been dutifully remaining silent, had turned to look at Sun Qing and upon seeing such sadness erupted in tears as well.
Even Sun Jiao who was normally easygoing began to feel his heartstrings twist and an overwhelming desire to beg for forgiveness.
Xiaobo's voice woke Sun Jiao from his depression. Taking the advice Sun Jiao gave a snort and looked back towards the arena.
'I hope this works. Xiaobo didn't sound too worried'
Xun Qing stomped her little foot. A pressure was released and the 2 maids and door servant collapsed. Unlike Xu Rong these were common slaves and didn't have any sort of cultivation. The pressure was light though and only caused them to pass out.
"I can't believe you picked a doggy without me!"
'...'
"That's an interesting way to pet it. Can I pet it too? OH! Does this mean we can go for a walk this Sunday?"
Xun Qing walked over with a smile on her face and the tears completely gone as if they had never existed. As she talked she reached out her hand to scratch under Xu Rong's chin.
"Who's a good doggy? You are!"
After a short giggle. She sat down next to Sun Jiao and began to hum while her feet swung underneath the seat.
The gears in Sun Jiao's head slowly began moving again and finally processed what had happened.
Waiting a bit for Xiaobo's reply Sun Jiao realized he had gone back to sleep or whatever it was he is doing.
'WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS GIRL?'
He turned to look at the young girl next to him and she looked back, tilted her head and gave him a smile.
"We'll have to get her a collar. My doggy has a collar and it's covered in spikes. He's a big doggy though so he needs a scary one. We should get her a pretty one since she's a lap doggy. You absolutely CAN'T pick one out without me!"

The maid's began to stir causing Sun Qing to furrow her brow and frown for a moment before facing the arena with a smile.
'She has to be bipolar at the very least. Are all girl's in this world this crazy? I hope not or I'll die of a heart attack before the end of the week.'
Sun Jiao examined Xu Rong's face to see how she was reacting. The worry and fear was still there, but confusion was the largest emotion present on her face which was much cuter than the depressed look she originally had.
'She seems lost too so it's probably not just me. I take it though that Sun Qing's "doggy" is probably a slave as well.'
Sun Jiao's thoughts were interrupted by a loud feminine voice echoing throughout the arena.
"Welcome everyone. We all know why we're here so we'll get straight to the fights! The first fight is between two cultivators who have already reached the First Layer!"
'First Layer? What's that? The first round maybe? It's the first round though so why would she say that?'
Sun Jiao made a mental note to ask Xiaobo the next chance he got and missed the introduction for the fighters which wasn't very important to him anyways.
Two large men strode out from either end of the coliseum arena and jumped onto the stage. They were both dressed in leather armor that looked similar to each other, but some minor differences. One was holding an axe that was as big as he was and the other had a halberd and was swinging it around after landing on the stage.
"Everyone knows the rules, but just in case! This is a life and death battle so the winner will move forward even if he kills his opponent and is under no obligation to accept surrender unless they choose! Good luck and begin!"
The Axeman roared and a red ki surrounded his entire axe. The other man spun his halberd around while a green ki concentrated only on the tip of his.
'Wow this is like an anime or something. Awesome!'
The Axeman slammed his axe downward in front of him causing the ground to explode making dust and debris to fly around which blocked the green ki user's vision. The Axeman then jumped in the air and came crashing down while red ki enveloped his whole body causing him to look like a falling meteor.
The air around the end of the halberd started to pick up speed and twist as though it was a hurricane. This blew the dust away and revealed the green ki user with a worried look on his face. Just before the Axeman finished his attack the green ki user turned to his left and thrust his halberd out shooting a blast of wind propelling him backwards. He then spun his weapon around and thrust it behind him causing him to slow down.
The Axeman's attack slammed into the ground where his opponent had been with enough force to cut a tank in half. The blast rushed towards the green ki user pushing him away, but the green ki light behind him glowed even brighter keeping him where he was. Just as the force finished pushing against him the green ki user swung his halberd so fast that the blade at the end disappeared leaving only a green ki trail which formed a crescent shape. As the green light faded it was replaced by a red arc as blood flew out of his opponent's neck.

All this took time to explain, but was over in just a blink of an eye.
Sun Jiao was so excited that he was shaking so he increased the grip on Xu Rong's waist to keep Sun Qing from noticing. No one Earth had ever seen such a fight let alone think it was possible to see such a thing. He was in the middle of it and it was possible he could learn how to do those things. Besides the excitement there was a trace of fear; Sun Jiao had never fought in his previous life and had no idea where to begin learning.
'I've already died what reason do I have to fear? This is going to be incredible. I am lucky to have this chance. I must remember that!'
Xu Rong felt Sun Jiao grip and didn't know what to think. She thought maybe he was disappointed in the fight as she had heard the prince was at the peak of the First Layer and undoubtedly knew special techniques that would rival even Second Layer attacks. Fearing he might take his anger out on her she mustered her courage and spoke up.
"Worry not master. This is just the opening fight. Better fights will take place."
Thinking to appeal to the prince's pride she quickly added; "Of course no one could put on a more amazing fight than you. I'm sure if you fought it would be much more impressive!"
She turned on his lap to look at his reaction and knew she had made a mistake when she saw his angry scowl.
She was mistaken however as Sun Jiao wasn't angry, but worried that he might have to fight. Sun Jiao's body however had never shown a worried look so it only knew how to make an angry scowl.
'No way in hell I can fight yet. YET! Someday I will fight and I will show you an incredible fight!'
Sun Jiao would look back and see this moment as the moment he decided to become a cultivator. Mostly for himself, but a small part of him wanted to live up to her expectations. Perhaps it was baggage from his last relationship or just the standard feelings that a boy should impress the girl; whatever it was he made up his mind to use it.
Xu Rong though had heard terrible rumors about the second prince and so, not wanting to risk his ire, Xu Rong tried to think of why he would be angry and how to make him calm down.
"Ah! Sorry master. I misspoke; please forgive me. Of course you would never lower yourself to fighting in such a small arena. If you were to fight it would only be at a much grander place!"
Sun Jiao smiled after realizing she had misunderstood the situation and rubbed her back to comfort her. Not just for her comfort, but to help calm himself as he was painfully aware that sitting next to him was a landmine waiting to go off and that he had just avoided a major catastrophe. Thankfully though it seemed as if Sun Qing hadn't been paying too much attention; she continued to hum to herself as if in her own little world.
'I shouldn't have shown fear or worry there. I must focus or another mistake like that could cost me.'
Seeing Sun Jiao smile Xu Rong let out a sigh of relief having also avoided what she thought was a major catastrophe and began to relax.
Sun Jiao pulled her closer and sat up straighter settling himself in for the upcoming fights and enjoying her company.
As the fights continued Sun Jiao continued to be impressed again and again. There was so much variation on how they attacked, but he noticed it was rare for a person to defend. The fights were full of attacks, counter-attacks and counter-counter-attacks. Most of the fights were over quickly and didn't end in death, but that didn't stop Sun Jiao from appreciating them.
He also realized that he was getting used to their movements. The first fight he had been unable to follow the green ki user's attack, but by the second round he could see it as a blur and when the green ki user got to the third round he was able to see it much clearer.
At the end of the small tournament the new champion, a brown ki heavy sword user, beat out the green ki user by swinging his blade with the flat end rather than slashing which caused a huge gust of wind filled with brown ki. The wind was so strong it blasted the green ki user into a wall and knocked him out.
The new champion then had the right to challenge the current champion which he accepted.
Sun Qing found this very exciting and began to bounce in her seat. Looking at the maids and then at Sun Jiao she appeared to contemplate, then stood up on her chair and leaned to whisper.
"Big brother you get to see my doggy! I didn't tell you I keep him here because I didn't think anyone would challenge him! You're not mad I didn't tell you are you? Of course not, you never get mad at me!"
She then sat down with a giggle and edged closer to her seat with excitement.
I had a whole chapter full of intense fighting and action and super awesome combat all typed up, but it's not about arena fights is it? NO! It's about sun jiao! So lets skip over the tournament and pretend it's an artistic choice not a "I don't want to make a bunch of random characters that never show up again and was actually lying a second ago" choice! Definitely not lying about whole chapter of fighting typed up!

The Huntsman's Quest (An Urban Magic Quest/RPG)
Jon Whitaker went to summer camp expecting a nice relaxing time as a newly minted counselor in training. He was not expecting to fight an army of monsters, work with a serial killer, enter a one-sided friendship with an eldritch horror, or study under a competing witch and dark lord. But regardless of what he was expecting, his summer is over and he's made his way back home where he can try and return to a normal -for him- life. Too bad life rarely goes as expected. --- Please Note: This is forum quest/RPG I run in the same city/setting as my other stories Hacking Reality and Get Ink'd, meaning that while a majority of the plot is made up by me, the major choices as well as what each chapter is about are usually made by the actual readers in forum votes. Additionally, given how this is essentially a story version of a Tabletop game there is also a background RPG system that while the characters aren't necessarily aware of, the readers can see these stats to know how each chosen 'Action' effects their character's development.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.
