CHAPTER 23 TENDING TO HER
When the girl woke up, the first thing that she did was to scan the entire area.
Though her eyes were only half open, those green eyes of hers told me that she was conscious. I decided not to approach her abruptly just to avoid the same fate that I had with Velthoenne when she woke up.
She stared at me for a moment, move her head from left and right as if she was evaluating her surroundings. In a second she tried to get up but couldn't due to her weak state.
"Hey, hey. You shouldn't push yourself. You're body isn't on the right shape to move."
I reprimanded her as if I was her personal nurse. She looked at me for a moment then rested her head against the winter fur cloak as she mumbled something--
"...gry..."
"Hm?"
"Hun...gry..."
Ah, shoot! I was busy with creating weapons that I forgot to prepare some food for the sick. Some Samaritan I am.
"Rest for a bit. I'll go and prepare something for you to eat."
I patted her forehead as I withdraw some ingredients in my >. This girl is lucky though. Aside from being a professional engineer, I'm also a good cook. A graduate one.
In my previous world where knowledge is the sole and top priority in the society, there were so many competitors. Although having or obtaining a degree in a certain field could be called a great achievement for everyone, that won't do if you are living in the 27th century.
From my > I withdraw a pressure cooker which I tweaked to use ether directly as a source of energy, converting the raw energy into electrical energy.
Now then what should I cook?
I have some meat and vegetables, a soup should be fine. Yup, that would give warmth to her cold stomach. Then what kind of dish should I make?

Hmm...
Oh! That soup should be good.
Using [Cryokinetic Construct] I created a chopping board made of ice. I also created a > using [Sonokinetic Construct] to cut down the meat and veggies to the appropriate cut sizes.
After done with cutting the ingredients, I started cooking.
------
After ten minutes, my soup is done. Hmmm, the smell that is giving it off somehow reminds me of home from my previous world. I poured some on a bowl made of ice while blowing to it, trying to cool it off a bit.
"Sorry for the wait, here's your soup."
The girl was looking at me with her green eyes fixed at the bowl that I was holding. Her nose was twitching as if the soup's aroma had invaded her senses while her ears were flapping like a bird's wings. From her mouth, a hint of water substance fell down.
She's very hungry alright.
She tried to lift her upper body by herself but her slim and weak arms were trembling while supporting her weight, struggling. Unable to take it what I'm witnessing, I bend over and put the bowl of soup on the ground.
I helped her lift her body and let her back rest against my left chest acting as a support. I put my left arm around her body with the bowl in my left hand. I could tell that her body was stiff as a log as her hair touched my face.
Her cheeks were blushing red as her eyes averted my gaze.
Her hair smell like it was immersed in a field filled with blooming scented flowers. Girls really smell different...
What am I thinking!?
Umm, let's be clear. I'm not a pedobear or something related to it.
Not even the slightest!
I'm just feeding her, right! Just helping her to eat.

"Here, you need to eat to regain your strength."
"Mmm."
She began to eat slowly as I fed her. We were in that awkward position for almost ten minutes. It felt like we were doing some sort of PDA. Somehow, I felt uncomfortable but I need to endure it for her sake.
I observed her as she was eating, it looked like she liked the Sinigang that I've made. She would ask for another bowl after sipping its broth down to the last drop. In truth, she ate all the soup without leaving me a single bit of it.
"Pahh..."
Maybe the sour and savory taste of the soup was to her liking. She even made a sound of delight and fulfillment.
I then laid her back on the winter fur cloak. As I carefully rested her head onto the soft fur, her green eyes were staring at me with solemness, her cheeks were redder than before. I quickly averted me eyes from her.
Somehow that gaze of hers felt like it entered my very soul, which made me uncomfortable and uneasy. I was ready to leave her at rest to cook something for myself when I felt a slight tug on my shirt.
"Umm, may I know your name?"
Her voice was calm and relaxing even though it felt frail. I sat beside her as I put the empty bowl on the ground, smiled and answered back,
"My name is Ragna."
Upon hearing the words that came out from my mouth, her eyes widened.
