《From Max to Zero to God》Chapter 87 - The Attack Commences

The silent forest swayed under the billowing wind, the afternoon sun feeling a lot chillier then before.
BOOM!
BAAM!
Explosions rocked the forest, shaking the ground itself, as well as the Demon Cultivators inside the cave. They rushed out one by one, a total of eight of them, as well as Hou Feng, “Is it an attack?”
“There’s explosions occurring on the south, should we go over?” Hou Feng was the highest ranked Demon Spirit there so he was the one who called the shots. “Take someone with you, and report back through the communication amulet.” Two cultivators made their way over, and just when their bodies vanished into the forest, a miniature sun crashed down on the others.
“Guh!!” Hou Feng raised both hands, a wind barrier blocking himself and the others from the intense power and heat. “W-What in the world is this power!?” He pushed with all his might, shoving the sun into the sky, seeing it explode into a multitude of flames
But right at that moment, a purple sword ray sliced a demon cultivator in half, his two sides flopping lifelessly on the side. “T-This sword ray!” Hou Feng recognized it and felt his blood freeze up. A black-haired youth landed gently on the ground, he looked up and the group could see his cold, merciless purple eyes.
“Kill him! He can cut through qi! Use weapons!”
Two Demonic Cultivators ran towards Han Ling, a large sword held by one and a three pointed spear in the other.
“Mountain Cleaver!” “Shadow Thrust!”
Han Ling’s hand reached into a purple rift, the handle appearing in his hand.
“Void Sword Style: 3rd form…”
A sword appeared and gently fell to Han Ling’s side, the black blade now dyed in a bright crimson.
“Silent Scream.”
Plop. Plop.
Two heads fell to the ground in a single sword slash. And following them are the bodies.
Hou Feng gritted his teeth, unable to form words at the sight he just witnessed. A single sword slash took out two Immortal Supremes like it was nothing.

“Damn it!” He raised a hand, a tornado formed in his hand, bursting out at terrifying speeds. Han Ling calmly slashed it in half, his sword turning a bright purple before slashing down, a sword ray sailed towards Hou Feng.
“Dodge!” the remaining Demonic Cultivators jumped out the way, watching in horror as the sword ray quite literally cleave the cave in half, rubble tumbling down over the entrance. Han Ling’s body wreathed in lightning, and his figure zoomed into the cave.
“Where did he go?” Hou Feng scanned the ground but couldn’t even find a trace of the black-haired youth. But he did sense something…
“Damn it…” In the sky was a hundred golden clad cultivators, the army under one of the nine Heavenly Generals, The Sky Ruler Army.
“Surrender or die!” A hundred cultivators brimming with the power of Immortal Spirits and Supremes shook the air itself. Hou Feng’s pale expression fell even lower, “How are we so unlucky…”
And he raised both hands, a sign of surrender.

A handsome, devilish man stood in the middle of a large cavern, his eyes were closed, a powerful darkish grey aura steaming off his body. Demon Seven, the Demon of Sin and Spear.
He opened his eyes.
“I must admit… I am surprised you managed to find me…” He turned around, Guan Tian walking up to the man, a guandao in his hand, the crescent blade shining in a gold hue. “And I admit I’m surprised to see you still here, Demon Seven.”
SHING
The guandao flashed in the air, pointed upwards, the butt of the pole slamming deep into the ground. “Do you surrender?” The man’s aura flared to the ceiling, the golden aura lighting the entire cavern like a sun in the night sky.
Demon Seven’s eyes narrowed, obviously weighing his chances against one of the nine Heavenly Generals. There was a silence, until Demon Seven pulled a spear embedded in the ground beside him. A jet black pole with a crimson blade tip. “I’m dying to know how strong one of the Heavenly Generals is.”

Both auras dyed the entire cavern in grey and gold, weapons raised and stances readied.
CLANG!
The spears clashed in a flurry of strikes, metal struck metal, sparks ignited in the air.
TING! CLANG! CLING! BAM!
Sonic booms erupted at every strike, the auras of both sides causing explosion after explosion, causing even the entire cavern to rumble. Their figures moved back and forth, spinning weapons and slamming blades.
“You’re pretty good.” Guan Tian ushered, spinning the guandao in one hand before slashing downwards at an extreme speed. Demon Seven dodged to the side, the blade strike leaving a deep gash in the ground and wall. The man gulped unconsciously at the sight, instantly knowing he was no match for a man like him.
“I can’t fight a battle like this…” Demon Seven muttered, gripping his spear tightly, grey qi surged around the weapon. “Sin of Wrath.”
His entire body steamed out black demonic qi, so powerful even Guan Tian couldn’t help but shudder slightly. “We aren’t fighting through skill anymore? Fine.”
Guan Tian slammed the butt of his weapon on the ground, his aura flaring as bright yellow flames licked his body. “Come.”
With renewed power the two sides collided, spear struck spear, flames and demonic qi slammed together, dissipating at the same strength.
“Sin of Pride.”
Another burst of black qi swirled around him, a major boost in power.
BAM! BOOM! TANG!
Slowly, Guan Tian was pushed back, but not for long.
“Sky Ruler Guan Dao Art: Unleashed Heaven.”
WHAM!
A blinding light erupted, and a massive shockwave blasted the cavern, shaking the cavern terribly.
Demon Seven staggered back, his arms numb as he stared down at his weapon, the pole severed in half. “Hahaha, a heavenly general really is a monster…”
Guan Tian spun the guandao, bring the blade towards Demon Seven’s neck, “It was a good fight, Demon Seven, now surrender.”
Demon Seven let out a helpless chuckle, yet his eyes were filled with a mischievous glint. “Nope.” He clenched his fists.
RUMBLE!
The wall behind them crumbled, revealing a giant stone ape.
RAWHHHHHHH!!!
The ape’s red eyes locked on Guan Tian, his body glowing with a red qi. “RAWHHHHH!!!” a stone fist crashed down on Guan Tian, to which he snorted, the guandao slicing upwards, cleaving the entire arm in half.
“It won’t be that easy…” Demon Seven said with a chuckle. Sure enough, the arm snapped back, as if bound together like a magnet. “RAWHHHHH!!!”
“Inflicted with Wrath, Pride, Envy, Rage and Pain. All the buff sins that I have, it should be enough to hold you here right? Heavenly General?”
Demon Seven began to back away, a smile on his face, saying that he had already won the battle. Guan Tian’s eyes narrowed, “Sky Ruler Dao Art: Sky Slasher.”
He held the guandao in both hands, swinging with immense might, a yellow blade ray erupted out, slamming into the rock ape.
Even then, the rock ape only roared in anger. “It’s been maddened to an extreme state… At this point the beast will die in a few minutes.”
Guan Tian brandished his weapon, determined to kill the rock ape and catch Demon Seven. But little did he know, Demon Seven was already gone…
>>>
“Hehehehe, that fool Guan Tian.” Demon Seven zoomed through the caves, his without a single wound or any trace of fatigue. “I’m glad I got the clone technique.” His face changed into a bright grin, but then fell in an instant.
The cave entrance was caved in, and sitting on a pile of rocks was a black-haired youth, emitting the aura of a 6th Step Immortal Supreme. “Grrrr, a weakling dares block my path!”
A ball of grey flames erupted in both hands, he pushed them forward and a pillar of grey flames erupted towards him.
FWOOM!
But the flames disappeared in a strange wind.
“What?” And then he saw it.
The young man stood, and behind him…
A pair of purplish black wings…

Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
