In no time at all, the four cultivators reached the top of the mountain, surprised to find that a giant crater sunk into the mountain.
Han Ling landed along with the trio, scanning the area with his All-Seeing Void. “Doesn’t look like there’s any traps or enemies. But…” He looked down at the ground. “This is a humongous door…”
Bai Ye Qing frowned as he looked at the ground, “What door?”
RUMBLE…
Ye Qing gasped, falling on his butt as the ground split perfectly in half, opening up like the opening of a volcano.
“W-What in the world? This is a stupendous amount of qi!”
Han Ling frowned, “You’re right… it seems there might be a sage ranked existence down there…” From the yawning hole came powerful surges of qi, so menacing even Han Ling had to think twice before looking over the edge.
“I’ll tell you now, when we enter there is a chance we may face immense danger and I wouldn’t be able to protect you.” Han Ling turned to the trio, eyes deadly serious, “Are you still willing to go down?”
Bai Ye Qing stared at the hole, ominous qi affecting his mind. “Ugh, If brother Han Ling is going, then I’ll go as well!” Rong Yi and Gang Tie glanced at one another, “Where the young master goes, we go.”
Han Ling grinned.
“Good! A man must have bravery!” With that he leapt down without any hesitation. Bai Ye Qing gulped, acting before he even realized he was off the edge and plunging into the darkness.
To be honest, Han Ling expected a longer fall. With his All-Seeing Void he was able to see through the darkness, using wind to slow his descent as well as the other three. Han Ling scanned his surrounding, a musky smell reached his nose and he immediately recognized it.
“Wolves…”
As if being summoned, dozens of blue wolves stepped out of the darkness, fangs bared and growling ominously. Bai Ye Qing paled at the sight of the wolves, because every single one of them were Spirit Beasts…
Han Ling glared at the wolves, cautiously watching them. All of a sudden, one pounced straight towards Rong Yi, its teeth aimed straight for her neck.
ROAR!!
A tiger slammed the wolf aside, biting strongly on its neck, killing it in an instant. Han Ling snapped his fingers, a bolt of lightning hammering down on a trio of wolves, instantly evaporating them.

“Luckily its Aqua wolves, they’re weak to my lightning.” The wolves all pounced, but Han Ling raised a foot, stomping down with immense force.
[Earth Wall]
The ground shifted, creating a barrier of earth around the group. Han Ling quickly threw Bai Ye Qing a feather, “Take this and make yourself useful!” Bai Ye Qing frowned at the size of the feather but then gaped when lightning arced around the feather.
In only a few seconds, the walls fell and the wolves pounced.
“Thunder Pulse.”
A bolt of lightning slammed into a wolf, evaporating on the spot. Han Ling dashed forward, his hand reaching into a rift.
BOOM!
AWOOHHH!
BAM! Whimper! CRACK! Yelp!
Han Ling dashed from one wolf to another, his sword flashed in the air, the silent blade slicing the wolves in half. “Void Sword Style: 1st form. Billowing Vortex.” With a spin, multiple wolves exploded as the sword sliced through their bodies.
The young man breathed in and out, leaping up before slashing a wolf in half, twirling around to block the claw of another, slicing its arm off before turning around to stab one in the head.
Just then, 3 wolfs leaped towards Han Ling. “Thunder Pulse!” he slammed his palm into the ground, a ring of lightning blasting the wolves back. The beasts struggled up but was cut down by an obsidian black sword.
Han Ling glanced at Bai Ye Qing, glad to see the kid slicing wolves up like they were paper. Beside him was Gang Tie and Rong Yi, their cultivation low but still able to provide some assistance. The Thunder Flash tiger took on a dozen wolves on his own, pillars of lightning beams evaporating wolves in an instant.
After an entire hour, bodies of wolves littered the ground, most of it piles of ash here and there. “Hoooo, that sure was a lot of wolves…” Han Ling exhaled with a smile, like he had just ran a few miles and felt refreshed. He turned to the trio who were panting hard, the purple feather laid on the ground where Bai Ye Qing laid, his chest rising and falling quickly.
The Thunder Flash Tiger growled at them, seemingly displeased at their weakness. Han Ling chuckled, “Let them rest a bit.”

“Interesting, petal strike? Explains why there were petals here…”
Han Ling then took a look at the pile of glowing items in the middle. “Those wolves sure dropped quite a bit…”
He inspected as many items as he could, but he lost count at around 117. Most of them were hydro items, with some daggers made of the Aqua wolf’s fang. Han Ling picked a blue orb, surprised to find a lightning orb at the rank of 3.
Han Ling absorbed it in an instant but there was no change in his Empyrean Zenith Lightning element, “I guess rank 3 won’t cut it anymore…”
Han Ling looked through the other items, mostly frowning at the low levels, but there were a few interesting lightning skills, even a few hydro skills Han Ling could learn.

Han Ling straight away threw the boots to Gang Tie, “Those will help.” Gang Tie looked at them and widened his eyes, then bowed to Han Ling.
“Thank you very much!”
“No worries.” Han Ling sprung up, “Alright! We’re moving deeper!”
And so, they continued onwards…
For the next 2 hours, the group met a humongous pack of wolves, forcing to retreat before trying again. Han Ling sighed, “I could probably obliterate them with my wings…” he glanced at the others, “Too bad I have to keep it a secret.”
Who knows what they would think when they see wings on the back of a human. They might even think I’m a devil or a fallen angel.
They obtained countless treasures, and according to Bai Ye Qing, this was the most treasure he had seen in a single Chance of Fate, and they weren’t even finished yet.
Han Ling took a look at the others.

“Not too bad. They also have some lightning gear that helped them in this place.” Han Ling gave Bai Ye Qing the Lightning Feather, the Lightning boots to Gang Tie, and a Electric tipped spear for Rong Yi, it suited with her three petal stance, putting a distance between her and the opponent.
But Han Ling didn’t really get much.

Other than Shock Palm and Vibration blade, everything else was useless to Han Ling, but he could keep them and sell them for Spirit Stones, the currency of the cultivation world.
After walking a bit more, the group entered a giant hall, Han Ling immediately activated All-Seeing Void. His gaze locked on something, and he gave out a chuckle. “What is it Brother Han Ling?”
Han Ling pointed and the trio looked, jaw dropping at the same time.
A magnificent tiger, pure white fur, shadow black stripes, yellow eyes that seemed to stare into the soul. It was a normal tiger, except for two things.
It was the size of an adorable little kitten.
And it exuded the aura of A Sage Lord.

The first few chapters will be slow, after, but starting from ‘Restless Destroyer’ the remainder of the world will start to open up, and when we hit ‘Adronitis’ the prologue is largely finished. The novel is well thought out and filled with hidden lore, culture, history. So even if my word choice appears random – it’s not. There is a reason why these chapters take as long as they do. Vermodalen is fantasy adventure, with magic and heroics in an as realistic setting as I could fit. Things are rarely what they seem, and the ugly nature of people bleed through the letters at the turn of every page. I hope you can give this story a fair chance, even if it isn’t immediately to your taste. Lastly, english isn't my first language. It isn't my second one either. So, if you find errors in grammer and spelling, wordplay and sentance building, do let me know, and you will be rewarded by a surge of dopamine that will be released inside your brain for helping someone whom you haven't even seen or heard.
