《From Max to Zero to God》Chapter 31 - Jagged Peaks
Advertisement
Han Ling arrived at the Peaks half a day later, he ran into a couple of monsters on the way but nothing a few slashes couldn’t handle. The Jagged Peaks as the name suggests were rocky mountains that are nearly impossible to terrain unless you can shape rock itself.
But Han Ling was a seasoned warrior, he has traversed dozens of lands, crossed mountains far worse than this. He scaled the mountain quite easily, leaping from one rock to another, and if a rock gave way, he just blinked to the nearest foothold, not even holding his breath once.
It would give any average person a heart attack to see someone scaling a mountain in this way.
After 30 minutes of rock climbing Han Ling was surprised to already find himself at the peaks. He brushed off some dust from his cloak and squinted his eyes around the cliffs. Soon, he found what he was looking for…
A den of goblins, with shadow wolves as their mounts. Han Ling calmly watched the goblins, counting their numbers and scanning the surroundings.
Almost a thousand goblins lived in the cave, hundreds of wolves mounts lived in pens. Han Ling quietly examined the situation, with the goblins living in the cave, a few explosive scrolls would cave them in, but Han Ling had no idea if there were any stronger goblins, in the future, goblin mages, hobgoblins, goblin generals and warlords all ambushed Stormval, and a crashing cave was nothing to those monsters.
I’m not even sure if they have any other escape routes… that plan won’t work. Then Han Ling sighed, “Looks like I’ll need to utilize a little insanity…” he grinned a mad grin under the mask and turned around and disappeared into the darkening land.

Three days later, Narukami frowned in his room, sitting in a cross-legged position. When Han Ling left, he sent one of his best scouts to keep and eye on him, and he was currently waiting for the news.
Back at the meeting, he learnt the technology of Earth humans and obtained a couple of smart phones from Mr Kazuto, he instructed his scout how to use the phone and asked him to record a video of everything Han Ling does.
But when he watched the video he couldn’t help but shudder…
“This kid is an absolute monster… He’s even worse than me when I was young…” Narukami muttered under his breath as his pupils shook at the sight he was watching.
At the start of the video, the scout managed to catch Han Ling placing explosive scrolls all around the place. Once the explosives were in place, Han Ling snapped his finger and an explosion erupted from a cave, the loud sound drowning the screams and whines of burning goblins.
Even then, the kid threw scroll after scroll into the cave, red flames flashing in the night. After a dozen of scrolls, the swordsman stood at the entrance, waiting with a black and white sword in both hands.
Then an arrow flew towards him, sparks flying off the clash between arrow and sword. Then dozens upon dozens of goblins burst out the caves, eyes red with anger. They fired arrows, threw daggers, spears and rocks after Han Ling, but he just defected them easily before turning around and running.
The goblins were hesitant to follow until the swordsman swiftly turned around and slashed, sending three swords beams towards the group, cleaving a dozen goblins in half. Narukami frowned deeply as he saw that, “That kid never used that move against me… He didn’t go all out? Or did he think it’s a waste to attack me with that skill?” He refocused his attention on the video, watching Blood Mask cleave through goblin after goblin.

The entire battle lasted a few minutes but when there were too many goblins, Blood Mask would fall back to a line of scrolls, scorching wave after wave of goblins with the same technique. But goblins weren’t completely dumb, they stopped following the swordsman after a few rounds of ambushes but Blood Mask didn’t waver.
He picked up the scrolls and proceeded to attack using the scrolls, blasting hundreds of goblins. The more Narukami watched the graver his expression became, he had no clue that the Jagged Peaks had so many goblins, and the sight of a dozen hobs caused his expression to crumple. “If the army was to leave Stormval, these goblins would run through the capital in a day.”
He shuddered as that thought entered his mind, “Luckily this guy found something.” But Narukami paused, “Luck?” It was too much of a coincidence in Narukami’s mind, when asked where Blood Mask will hunt, he said Jagged Peaks as if he knew of the den of monsters at the peak.
Narukami felt respect well up in him, a stranger risking his life to clear a monster camp that might threaten Stormval at any time, it showed the personality of Blood Mask. A man who would risk himself to preserve humanity. Narukami quietly watched Blood Mask defeat hobs after hobs before appearing in front of a goblin mage, killing it instantly.
He felt satisfaction from the video, Blood Mask was a man he can trust…

Two days went by in flash, Han Ling never slept a single second, he drank stamina potions the moment his fatigue rose and slayed the goblins without rest.
The hobs and goblins were slain on the first day, leaving stragglers behind, but the mages and warlocks were tricky. The moment the mages sensed Han Ling they would teleport away, forcing him to chase them till their death. The culling of mages and warlocks took the entire second day to complete, wasting quite a lot of time.
But in a way, the exp he gained wasn’t small, in fact, it was overwhelming. At only the second day, he reached level 52, pushing past the level 50 limit. After reaching level 50, the elements of the player will level up, all of Han Ling’s void abilities became slightly stronger, with even his domain skill gaining a level up.

Overall, very good for a first element upgrade. On the second night, Han Ling tirelessly hunted all the goblin stragglers, making sure not to let a single one off. The little goblins were all around level 10, with the hobs at level 38 with mages and warlocks at 45. It would be difficult for average people to kill hobs and higher levels, but if a group of goblins managed to raze a village, all the girls there would be used as playthings. Han Ling could only grow cold at that thought, mercilessly killing more goblins. But on the morning of the third day, Han Ling ventured into the cave, and found what he was looking for.
A human sized goblin sat on a bone throne, a sword stuck in the ground next to him. His eyes were red with fury and teeth grinding together in frustration. Above him says the words…
[LVL 72 Goblin Chieftain Jashaka (Hidden Boss)]
“You’ve ruined everything! The Blood Seekers will have its revenge!” Han Ling stayed silent, raising his hands, two swords formed from light particles in his hand. He readied his blades, breathing in and out.
“RAWRRRR!” With a movement so fast, the Chieftain rushed forward, and the long sword arced down faster than lightning . Han Ling’s eyes glowed purple and he twisted his body to the side, feeling the wind of the sword slammed down inches from his face. With a quick spin, Obsidian Hollow stabbed into the Goblin’s arm, eliciting a roar from the beast.

Han Ling nimbly stepped back, sending three vertical slashes of sword energy towards his enemy. The Goblin Chief grOwled, slashing apart the sword energy before dashing after the swordsman. “DIE!” His blade glowed a faint grey and a mini tornado formed around his blade. He thrust the sword forward, shooting the tornado with a powerful thrust.
Han Ling held both swords in front of him in a cross, then slashed diagonally, slicing the tornado apart. But at that moment, the goblin brought his sword down on the defenceless human. However, Han Ling calmly watched the sword fall and stabbed behind him, causing the attacking goblin to frown.
But then his eyes widened as a sharp pain spread from his back, the sword in his hand crashed to the ground as a sword protruded from his waist, coming from behind him. Han Ling stood behind the Goblin Chief, eyes cold with a hint of mockery in them. The goblin cheift roared in anger, whipping his fist around, attempting to flatten the human.
Han Ling easily leaned back, feeling the fist brush past his face, and he stabbed both swords into the stomach of the Goblin. The monster coughed out blood, eyes bloodshot with furious anger in them. “YOU DARE!”
Powerful wind blasted Han Ling back, forcing him to skid to a stop, but he frowned deeply at the sight of the Goblin Chief, he was floating in air, wind currents flowing all around his hand sand feet. He thrust his hands forward, as if pushing someone, two tornados blasted Han Ling, hitting him square on the shoulders.

Han Ling gritted his teeth, the pain of shredded skin hot in his mind. He raised both hands slightly, feeling the pain of torn muscles on his shoulder. He gazed at the floating goblin, seeing a bus sized orb of wind crashing down on him.
Without taking any chances, Han Ling activated Silent Void, the darkness covered the cave and the Goblin Chief fell to the ground, staring at his hands in disbelief. The orb of wind vanished as if it was never there, the darkness making the swordsman feel a strange sense of safety. Han Ling pulled a healing potion from his sub space, drinking it in one gulp and felt the muscles in his shoulder mend, and he could move his arms easily now.
The goblin chief frantically attempted to use his abilities, but now a single gust of wind formed in his hand. Despair clouded his mind and he never noticed the nine blood sabres stabbing into his body, before exploding into a mist of blood.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

[You have slain a hidden boss, rewarding extra experience.]
[You have levelled up]
[You have levelled up]
In a flash, the goblin was reduced into a pile of blackened flesh. Han Ling breathed out a sigh of relief, pulling his domain back to himself. “That goblin chief would be dangerous if I was a couple of levels lower. Still, having a domain skill is cheating at this time.” Han Ling chuckled darkly under the mask.
He walked up to the charred body and saw a couple of glowing items on the ground. Han Ling’s eyes glowed at that sight.
[You have obtained the loot of the Goblin Chieftain Jashaka…
[You have obtained Jashaka’s Great Blade (Ghostly Gold)]
[You have obtained Hurricane Core (Serene Silver)]
[You have obtained Skill Book Wind Wreath (Super Rare)]
[You have obtained 150 sovereigns.]
Han Ling scowled slightly at the sight of his loot, at first he was ecstatic with the super rare skill book, but his face soon fell the moment he realized it was exclusive for only the wind element. A hurricane core was useless for Han Ling as he has the element of void, the hurricane core would be an important material to boost an element, it would sell quite well.
Han Ling sighed at his luck but focused on the positives. “I’m at level 54, still far off from 60, I might get enough at the end of the month, but I’ll need to clean the entire forest to get there, so that’s not possible.” Han Ling sighed heavily, “I can only hunt in that place…”

Cybernetic Dragon
Idea Seven, or Inter Dimensional Explorer Automaton Unit-7, has had a bit of an accident. Hijacking the egg of a dragon rather than its intended target of a bird egg, it isn't fully in control of its host brain. Rather the two, dragon and cybernetic AI interface, must work together to survive in a hostile world of magic, dungeons, beasts and adventurers. The AI must deal with being a machine from a world of science trying to carry out its mission of exploration, while the dragon, Rex, must deal with being a cyborg living with symbiotic nanotech that sets him apart from other dragons. What adventures await them? Author Note: I tagged this story GameLit because it contains concepts like levels, classes, and dungeon/beast cores. But, it isn't tagged LitRPG because no one has status screens, other than occasionally Idea Seven who likes to organize data into blue boxes. It isn't a natural function of the world to display level ups or skill ups with an announcer voice. I mention this to set expectations, because otherwise I feel like LitRPG fans might be disappointed by my lack of LitRPG elements while others might be turned off thinking I have a lot of LitRPG elements. I think that if you approach the story with an open mind you will appreciate the gradual way in which the main character learns and expands his understanding of how the world works, but the game mechanics aren't meant to take center stage to the actual story.

Disclaimer of sorts: I am non-native English writer that used to write mostly for himself. After my last computer decided to die on me taking all my works with it I lost the desire to write for quite a long time. This is my attempt to go find motivation to write again as this was my favourite hobby. The idea is to be held accountable. As for being non-native, I don't believe that should be a major issue as I feel my proficiency in English to be sufficient enough to not be too much of the distraction. That said, be forewarned that the rules governing punctuation are beyond my grasp. All I can do is try not to completely suck at that. As mentioned this is an attempt to motivate me to write again so any message, encouragement or constructive criticism will go long way.
