《Re: Corruption》Chapter 12: This will take some time
Advertisement
Finally got time to write a new chapter, but well only about half of my exams are over… for this part of the year… I guess there will not be that many chapters in the future, but I will try to get at least some small to medium sized chapters out once in a while (and because this is my last year there will be even harder exams coming up…).
First of all some explanation for chapter 11, I know that it was kinda confusing why a Human god curses a monster. The explanation is quite simple, first of all Tral is a former human, second he was property of humans. Yeah that’s quite why that he counted as a ‘subject’ of that god before.
-----------------------------------------------------------
They screamed something in my language, I could not understand much due to them speaking in a heavy dialect.
All I understood were a few words.
Something along the line of ‘Get here’, ‘Fast’ and ‘Kill them’.
These dwarfs are planning something to take us down.
And I want to see what that is.
I held Gur who already wanted to charge into our enemies again back and ordered him and Chiuco to wait.
As my darkness magic formed around me and my weapon as shield and enhancement I walked towards the dwarfs, both of them panicked and backed up, creating more distance between us.
When I was only a few meters away from the dwarfs one jumped towards me.
With a mad grin he pulled a dagger and cut his own arm, as the blood dripped on the floor I realized what he wanted to do, but I was too late.
The ground beneath me started shaking, too precise for an earthquake, and too strong.
A huge head shoved itself out of the ground, followed by a body at least thrice the size of me.
Its body was entirely covered by stone, its eyes glowing rubies.
Golem (variant)NameHogogTitlecannibalLevel43
I can see his level, that means he is not too much stronger than myself.
He suddenly grabbed the Dwarf that cut himself with his giant stone hand.
The Dwarf started screaming in pain, but didn’t resist too much.
“What did you fools wake me up for now? I told you already not to bother me. Now give me a good explanation before I lose my temper.”(Hogog)
“Th-These monsters there attacked us, they slaughtered so many of the Hobbits and Gnomes… They… They killed Martha” (Dwarf)
He started crying and the Golem, whose face showed nothing but pure anger let him down.
His eyes looked over the burning village, the corpses and the crippled fighters.
“My… My family… I shouldn’t have abandoned you…” (Hogog)
With an expressionless and cold look he stared at me.
“That is your doing?”(Hogog)
Gur and Chiuco these idiots, getting me into a situation like this.

“My companions did that, if you want to have your revenge you will have to fight the three of us.” (Tral)
I could swear that I saw a sad glance in his eyes, only for a moment.
“Brothers slaughtering brothers, what has this world become? You and I are not too different, yet I will have to crush you here. Say your prayers.” (Hogog)
I had no time to think at all, he simply hit his fists into the ground, his strength was big enough to cause a small earthquake. I lost my footing and in a matter of seconds he was over me, ready to smash his fists again, this time into me.
That was when Chiuco rushed to my site, he used his fire breathing ability and breathed flames directly into the Golems face.
“A dragon’s heat does smelt even stone with no problems, but your heat is not even close to smelting me!” (Hogog)
What he did not expect was Gur, who apparently pillaged one of the Dwarfs smithies.
With a huge two handed axe he ran towards Hogog’s left hand which was placed on the ground.
He swung his axe towards the Golem’s hand, rendering it useless.
As a result Hogog’s left hand got almost completely destroyed, the axe shattered in the process but managed to cut of 4 of the Golems 6 fingers.
He screamed in pain and I used the moment of distraction to shoot a small ball of concentrated darkness energy into his mouth, there I let it expand, expand until it covered all his insides, his intestines, his blood vessels, his heart. There I ordered my magic to harden, just as I did when I captured the soldier leader a few days ago.
On the outside the Golem was made out of stone and rubble, but on the inside he was still a living being with blood, organs and flesh.
In a matter of minutes his organs stopped working and his heart beat slowed down.
Exhausted as I was I was lying down next to the dying Golem, I decided to use his last moments for my own good.
“Why do you speak my language?” (Tral)
“Kid, you *cough* really don’t know anything do you?” (Hogog)
He started coughing up blood, his life would end soon.
“We Dwarfs and you Goblins are brothers, destined to live as one race. Dwarfs as the tinkerers and builders, Goblins as the fighters and explorers.*cough*” (Hogog)
“What are you talking about? Clearly we and you are nothing alike.” (Tral)
“Hmph, if you don’t believe me see it for yourself! You and your comrades killed my family, my friends and my entire village, but I beg you, don’t let our children, our future, die!” (Hogog)
With these words he used some of his earth magic to shift the ground, resulting in a house sized stone cube coming to the surface.

“Inside that are Brownlings, little creatures that are our races origin. When a Brownling matures it can either evolve into a Hobbit or a Goblin, based upon its characteristics and behavior.”(Hogog)
“Yeah, yeah great, so you’re telling me that these creatures in there can evolve into a Goblin, then how come that I never was a Brownling myself? I was born a Goblin. Also I didn’t see any Goblins around here. Start speaking clear now or I might decide to seek some more Dwarf villages to plunder!”(Tral)
“It’s natural that you won’t believe me*cough*. A few minutes east you will find a small Goblin cave. Ask them there, they will tell you that I am not deceiving you. Every single Goblin there was born a Brownling.” (Hogog)
These were his last words, as he coughed more blood up and I watched him lose his life. I released my magic from within his body and watched how he slowly emerged back into the earth, becoming one with it.
I will find out whether or not he said the truth, it does not matter anyway. These ‘Brownlings’ in there will be a great addition to my fighting force.
So my next goal is to find that Goblin cave, I want to know if the old Golem said the truth and also I’d like to try to recruit some of the Goblins or higher evolutions there.
Wait, where is east anyway? I don’t have anything like a compass…
The solution was easier than I thought. All I did was ‘ask’ some of the remaining Gnomes and Dwarfs… politely… where I had to go.
I left the village behind me, only a few Hobbits, Gnomes and some beaten up Dwarfs, beaten up during my polite asking where east was, were left. After all I don’t want to eradicate whatever I cross, and they did quickly answer my question.
But first are the Brownlings. I forcefully opened the stone cube, just to find about 20 little, brown babies in them. They all looked like tiny, ugly humans with small claws. One of them had horns and a tail like a demon.
Upon observation I found out that he was a so called ‘Demonling’, probably a rare variant of the Brownlings. All in all he was slightly bigger than the others and looked, except for the horns and the tail, similar to them.
As a punishment for their rash decision to walk around killing things I had Gur and Chiuco carry all the Brownlings, who didn’t even wake up when they picked them up.
The way back was uneventful, although tiring. We had to move slowly because every time we tried to progress faster either Chiuco or Gur accidently let some of the Brownlings fall down.
I really don’t need any mentally disabled Hobbits or Goblins, so we had to move slowly.
Also I made a mental note to take Tris to the plains that stretched behind the Dwarf village, maybe we will be able to tame some domestic animals, maybe even some other sort of familiars we can use as cavalry.
As we arrived everything was quiet, everyone already fell asleep.
With the exception of Falgar, the smith. He was sitting on the ground in a praying stance, his both hands folded together in front of his chin and his head slightly bend towards the ground, his eyes closed.
Skill: Meditation learned
As he was in deep concentration he didn’t react when we arrived, but for a moment I saw a small smirk on his face.
I placed the bag with materials which I took with me from the Dwarfen village. It was located in some kind of treasure room that I found underground using the little earth magic that I can naturally use due to Trolls having a little earth magic affinity.
The treasure room was filled with all kinds of ingots, ores, coins, gems, weapons and I even found some blue prints which mostly regarded the construction of different kinds of forges. I guess that was to be expected from a Dwarfen village.
How I transported all that? Well for me the metals, stones and so on weren’t the most valuable items in the treasury, it was that single bag. I wanted one of these since the day that bastard King send his presents to me. Yes, it was one of these magically enhanced storage items that could store items much larger than itself.
If I could only figure out how to create these myself.
Hmm, its night already. Time to take my silent watch post on top of the trees again.
Today was a busy day, I found a new sentient race, killed a Golem twice my size and gained future addition to my little private army.
I wonder how many levels that brought me, I probably am close to the next evolution.

This morning I was level 9… this is going to take some time.

I’ll be adding some info on how exactly Tral’s ability to copy skills and so on works in the info chapter, check in like tomorrow, I’m pretty sure I’ll have it up by then.

Void Breaker
Note: Sadly, this story is currently on hiatus :( Elizabeth Sayler had lost everything in the bombing of Reaver Stadium. Her career, her fame, her power — all of it vanished the moment she lost use of her legs. Now, she's beginning to lose hope of ever healing herself… until her world integrates into the Void. When the apocalypse comes in a flurry of System messages, everyone on earth is given a choice: give up what they value most in themselves, and acquire a path to their heart’s greatest desire. Most would hesitate, but for Liz? She has nothing to lose, and absolutely everything to gain. Armed with newfound powers in a world teeming with monsters, she’s determined to not only survive, but to somehow break the Void’s endless assault. * * * This is a small note about the portrayal of disability in this story. As much research as I do and as many people as I ask, I will in the end only be able to understand a small portion of paraplegia and similar disabilities. Therefore, if there is anything particularly disrespectful, please do not hesitate to contact me. I always intended to portray disability in a respectful way in this story, but please know that Liz as a character does not start out with a healthy view of disability. This is intentional, and a large part of her character development comes from this view changing as she learns. Disability is not something she simply "discards" at the beginning of the story, but an ongoing theme and a part of her journey.

Epoch: An NPC's Tale
Epoch is a slow-burn LitRPG/Gamelit novel that tells the story of Luke, later named Lucius—a natural inhabitant of the game-like realm of Elyssia where thousands upon thousands of detached, virtually unkillable entities known as the Players were suddenly introduced right after the dusk of the magnificent Age of Heroes. Shortly after the Players arrived, the balance of power in Elyssia instantly shifted. Kingdoms fell, wars were waged, alliances between races were made, and Lucius, after ten years of training in captivity, found himself being used as a pawn in a prophecy that he had no intention to fulfill. With aspirations and desires of his own, Lucius must find a way to cautiously adapt to the drastic changes in the very foundations of the realm after being sent 300 years into a future that was forever altered by the outcome of the war that his captors had lost and the Players won in a victory that resounded throughout the ages, all for a terrible price. Author's Note As an avid fan of the LitRPG genre myself, I wrote this novel with character progression, heavy Gamelit elements, and some degree of world-building in mind. If you like these, please feel free to give this novel a try. Oh, and the MC is also an NPC, in a sense. And wait, isn't this also an isekai story? Well, it's all a bit complicated to explain here. Maybe you should start reading now?
