《Re: Corruption》Chapter 6: Decimation

Little info: Up until now I wrote every day down. Buuut this will change for the simple reason that I do not have the patience to write every single day down. I will probably not put like whole months into a single chapter but maybe a few weeks instead of just days.
Anyway have fun reading.
Oh btw I will try some other writing styles. If I don’t like how it comes out I will change it, I may even rewrite the first chapters in these styles.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Four days have passed since we got the Kings presents. In the meantime Tris and one other Goblin evolved. They’re now both Hobgoblins.
Alex now looks a bit like Gur, just smaller and cleverer.
I did tell you that Tris looked kind of ugly as a Goblin right? What one evolution can change.
She now looks like a cute girl in her teenage years with blonde hair and an intelligent looking face.
Sadly she still kept the for Goblins characteristic brown-green skin tone, but she grew a lot more feminine.
They both were weak compared to Gur, but exceeded him in speed and intelligence.
The day of our next fight is today, at least that is what one of the guards told me.
A few hours after I woke up I heard the familiar sound of chains.
The process was the same as before, guards came in and chained us so that we are no danger for them when they move us.
This time they managed to catch Gur after a few minutes, but only because I told Gur to stop the nonsense of running away.
We were lead through the same dark tunnel as before. I saw the same dark passages that lead to other cages, but now with my hearing improved I heard many things. I heard creatures cry, moan, mumble in agony. Only from one passage I didn’t hear anything. When we were directly next to it I concentrated myself, what I saw was more than disturbing.
Even though I only saw shadows I’m sure what was in the cage at the end of that passage.
Human woman. They were lying on the ground or sitting on the wall. They had mouth gags and their hands were tied up so they couldn’t move or protect themselves.
Between all the females there were other creatures. Hobgoblins. They looked thin and stood and walked like old men.
I was suddenly hit at the back of my head.

“Hurry up you piece of filth” grumbled one of the guards. I couldn’t spare anymore time looking into to the cage. Sadly I didn’t see them long enough for my psychic ability to kick in, maybe I would have gotten some information about them.
When we arrived in front of the door which leads to the arena there were already fights going on inside. Like the last time I looked through the gaps in the door.
Fang Wolf(variant)NameSlasherTitleNightly StalkerLevel54
The Fang Wolf had a shoulder height of about 1,50 meters and his length exceeds that of an alligator.
This time I can see his level? The Borees was way too high level, so I couldn’t see its level. Looks like the fight will be more even today.
I wonder what the ‘variant’ means. Maybe he acquired some special evolution?
That reminds me, I haven’t checked my status even once since I evolved.
Gremlin(rare variant)NameTralTitleThe Kings FavoriteLevel19
Oh I’m a rare variant? Well I did clear some strange requirements when I evolved, but I didn’t see any effect of being a variant. Maybe it enhances my magic or my abilities? I need to acquire more knowledge.
The Wolf was fighting a horde of small Lizardlings who all were unnamed and between level 10 and 50. Needless to say he annihilated them, they didn’t even scratch him with the clubs and sticks they had as weapons. I wonder if I can make some equipment out of their scales, maybe a shield.
After about two minutes the fight was over. All Lizardlings were either dead or dying.
Skill: Bite learned
I learned that skill while watching the Wolf rip the Lizards to shreds, I wonder if I’m ever going to use it.
A steel cage appeared around the Wolf, trapping it. The King must be here, he did say that he wanted to watch us fight again. Then the door opened and I proudly walked into the arena.
The King sat on the same seat as before, observing at us with a slightly bored look on his face. I guess the slaughter just now wasn’t to his liking.
While the announcer told the crowd of our former achievements against the Borees, I talked to my comrades.
“This beast is exceedingly strong. I want you all to not take it lightly, it could rip you to pieces in mere seconds. Always be concentrated. I don’t want to leave any Goblin corpses back.”
With these words I signaled Gur and Tris to get into the formation we planned.

Tris was to distract the enemy from a safe distance. Her job was it to throw stones or anything she finds at it to give me and the other Goblins the chance to damage the enemy’s legs, so that I could use my cleaver to destroy a vital point of it.
As soon as the King made the cage vanish, I and Gur ran around the wolf, leaving the others were they stood. Tris started to pick up parts of the Lizardlings and threw them at the Wolf.
So far so good. What I didn’t put into my plan was that only Tris and Gur actually did what I said.
It would have all worked out well, but Alex, Merd and Grat, the three Goblins mindlessly charged in. Alex was immediately ripped in shreds by the wolf, who then jumped at Grat, simply crushing his skull with its paws. Merd, the last one that was left tried to run, but the Wolf effortlessly bit his throat.
It could’ve worked out so well if not for these dumbasses.
Now only Tris,Gur and me were left.
Tris lost her composure after our companions died, Gur started angrily growling. Any second now he would charge forward and get instantly killed.
Using only a small amount of energy I hit his arm to get his attention.
“Remember the plan” I said calmer than I was. I don’t know why I didn’t panic. Maybe because we have already survived death once, maybe because I had the two potions the guard gave us in my pocket. When I identified them I found out that they were middle class healing potions, more than enough to fully heal any low rank monster like us.
Tris wasn’t in the state to do what I assigned her to do so I had to take over her position. I quickly run towards the wolf, leaped just moments before his paws would have gotten me over it and picked the enchanted short sword from Alex up. It was the one with fire stones implanted.
While the Wolf turned around to follow me, Gur charged in and used all his power to bash his Axe into the enemy’s leg.
Surprisingly the effect of the attack was bigger than I thought. Even though it didn’t completely render the monsters limb useless it went almost half through, inflicting it pain and handicapping it for the rest of the fight.
Leaping again I ended up next to the Wolf, stabbing my new sword into its stomach.
In its moments if pain Gur smashed its skull with his axe, instantly killing our opponent.
When the announcer finished his talk we were about to leave, suddenly I heard a silent cry.
Following the noise I found a single Lizardling who hid beneath its comrades corpses.
Seeing how our Team got decimated by quite a bit I asked if we could take him with us. After some confusion the King stood up and allowed it.
I had to carry the little guy back, he was so afraid that he didn’t realize in what situation he was.
LizardlingNameChiucoTitleCowardLevel68
I gave him the name “Chiuco” as soon as we arrived back at our cage, this time we didn’t take the monsters corpse with us, but the guards brought it anyway. They need to feed us something after all.
Chiuco’s level is surprisingly high, maybe he was one of the strongest Lizardlings, maybe his level raised a lot due to him surviving a near-death situation. I will need to acquire some Information from him later on.
After I put him into a corner of the cage he immediately quieted down and stared at me, even though he didn’t understand a word of what I said, he continuously said one phrase.
Skill: Lizard language (minor) learned
I finally understood him, he again mumbled “thank you”, it seems like he understood what just happened.
We feasted on our enemy’s corpse, it was good meat, but our mood was too bad to enjoy it.
Hours later I finished some short pants for Chiuco, but he was already asleep, I will give him his new clothes tomorrow.
In the time until the next fight I will have to make Chiuco strong enough to survive. I don’t really care about his life, but he does upgrade our all chances of survival, so I will make him go through a hellish training. If he disappoints me at the next fight I will end him myself.
----------------------------------------
Btw sorry for the late release, RL kicked me in the face.
I will probably manage to upload another chapter this week, but next week I’m on a school trip so I won’t have any time to write at all.
