Chapter 16: Incomplete
Once again Reis was astonished how quickly Zes could lose his focus.
„Um, could we get back to your cultivation? How the hell are you able to cultivate at such a shocking rate? “
Zes thought and answered.
„Isn't it quite normal?
Normally, the higher the dao and the further you have comprehended it, the faster is your cultivation speed, right? “
„Well, yes but...“
„Now, I have completely comprehended a dao of such profoundness that it can control any other dao. It's kind of the strongest dao there is.
Isn't it normal for me to train much quicker than the rest? In the first place I haven't trained until now, 'cause I was busy comprehending my dao. “
Reis didn't know what to say. It's true that the higher one’s dao and the further you have comprehended it, the faster you would normally train. But his rate of progress was just too abnormal.
Normally an expert of the early nascentstage would need a few decades to get to the mid nascentstage and at least two centuries until he reaches late stage. But this airhead master of her just needed to cultivate for a night to get the result of others cultivating for centuries.
And these were not the ones without a talent. In first place, someone without any talent wouldn't get to the nascentstage. More than 90% of the demons in this realm were only in the bodystage or gathererstage. Cultivators of the compressionstage could already be the chiefs of a village or the captain of a garrison in a small village.

Foundationstage cultivators were chiefs of small cities and local powers, while corestage cultivators were often captain of the garrison in a bigger city like Bluedragon city.
This shows that even though Zes only sees the nascentstage as trivial, for many cultivators and also normal demons the nascentstage was an unreachable stage of supreme experts.
For Zes to reach this stage by the way and easily go towards immortalstage was something not even the loved by heaven geniuses of big clans could imagine to happen.
„Now that I think of it, your dao of Jerna is also a creationstage dao, isn't it? “
Zes suddenly asked her.
„How would that be possible? The dao of my clan is only ranked as middle heavengrade dao. “
„Well, that's because you are following an incomplete version of it. “
Reis unbelieving looked at him. The dao, her clan was following for more than a few milliards of years was incomplete? The thought of this made her mad at Zes, even though she knew that he was only speaking the truth.
„That’s....“
Zes noticed the angry look in her eyes.
„It's just that there are a few parts missing in this dao. I reckon, they were lost somewhere in the flow of time. Or maybe a member of your clan had simplified it in order to make it possible for less talented to learn it. Well, not that it matters. What is lost, that is lost. “
„Impossible, there is no way someone of my clan would do such a thing.
A silence rose between the two of them. Reis knew that Zes wouldn’t lie to her in such way but she couldn't believe that the dao her clan treated like a treasure was incomplete.
The myths of her clan said that the dao of Jerna was gifted to them by a powerful immortal. Members of her clan helped him when he was in a dangerous situation and as a way to express his thanks this immortal gifted them a powerful dao.

This dao became an heirloom of her clan and soon they became famous because of it.
For it to be incomplete, was something injuring her pride as a descendant of her clan.
Suddenly Zes spoke out.
„Well, it's not as if I couldn't restore it. The dao of Jerna is a dao that personifies the power of nature right? “
He shortly pondered and then formed a small green glowing dao essence.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke.
