Chapter 3: Mysterious Person
The demon girl was startled and then sighted. She shoot forward and cough Ari in midair, blurred and then disappeared together with her.
===================================================
The next thing Ari remembered was that she woke up in the forest near the village. She quickly stood up and looked for the demon girl. But there was no sign of her.
She hadn't told anyone in the village about this, because she feared to be shouted at for trying to climb the mountains and let a demon find out about their village.
At first she wasn't feeling well not telling her parents about it, but she told herself that since the demon girl wasn't a treat to them it wouldn’t matter even if she told them.
„Mom, could you tell me about the world before the demons came?“
Her brother asked her mother and Ari was back at the table eating with her parents.
„When I was younger, Humanity was the only intelligent race and the ruler about all things.“
Her mother started to talk about the old days before the demons came.
The old days before the demons came and the humans were the rulers over all animals. They had technology you couldn’t even compare to today. They managed to fly through the sky and understood the mystery of nature.
Almost all kids in the village dreamed to have witnessed these glory days of humanity. Ari was no exception in that aspect. She was to young to clearly remember anything from that time and enjoyed listening to the adults as they narrate about it.
She couldn’t even imagine how it could have been possible for her ancestors to be able to create non living beasts called cars to ride them.
As her mother was about to finish her story they suddenly heard an commotion from the fields. They quickly stood up to look what could have happened. Normally there was seldom any event in the village and everyone was thrilled.

When Ari got out of the house she saw a person clad in a black cloth coming toward the village.
The commotion came from the villagers that cautious gathered on edge of the village and carefully observed all the actions of the mysterious person.
As he came closer to the village the chief of the village a old man supporting his back with a staff looking like the wand of Merlins that had gray hair and a beard you would normally expect on Santa Claus called out.
„Who are you and what do you want from this village? If you are human you are always welcome.“
„And what would you do if I were a demon?“
A masculine Voice came from the mysterious person.
„ Of course we would …. it doesn't matter what we would do if you were a demon. There no way you are one, right?“
The elder trembled nervously and almost feared teh answer.
A horrible sound of laughing came back.
„ Well sorry to disappoint you, but actual I'm a demon“
The cloth covering the man slides down and revealed a young man with beautiful facial features wearing a green robe. The beauty of this young man could make a person wish to be the main character of boku no pico (for thus that don't know about it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boku_no_Pico).
But the biggest difference between him and the male of the village was the third eye he had on his forehead.
The elder trembled a last time twisted his eyes and fall onto the ground spasming just like a poisoned lady in some badly played drama act.
The villagers standing behind him immediately panicked and started to run into all directions trying to somehow get away from the demon.
Ari's father immediately took her and her mothers that was holding her brother hand and started to run towards the forest.

Ari turned her head and took a glimpse behind her.
People running into all directions. Parents picking up their children and hiding in their houses. Some kids took the wooden sticks they would usually play with and run towards the demon in attempt to protect their houses.
The just demon laughed and in an instant the children started burning in blue flames and were crying in agony until they were reduced to ash. The sticks they had carried fell to ground making a kang sound.
As Ari could take it anymore she turned her head back and started crying.
After running for 20 min through the thick forest
„I have to go back and look for the others hide in the forest until I come back, ok.“
Her Mother wanted to stop him but he waved his hand to stop her.
Her father looked at her and you could see fear and uncertainty but also a unshakable resolution in his eyes.
„We have lived in that village for 8 years. All our friends and the people we spend our time and survived in this world where only the strong are able not to hide themselves. Now tell me. Should I really just give them up just like this?“
Her mother struggled with herself and finally shook her head.
„We shall wait her for your return. Please be careful ok.“
Her father nodded and quickly ran out of their sight.
A lout cry resounded through the forest and Ari immediately run towards the direction her father had vanished.
After a short run she saw her father and her legs gave out.
„A-ari...r-run. RUNAWAY!““

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
