《A Gun is the Strongest Weapon in a Fantasy World!》Chapter 15: A new face and Misumi's past

They were questioned for the better part of an hour before the guards had a better grasp of the situation. Two different parties had the same tale, and it wasn't like the other party was alive to tell their side. The guards released them after thanking them for their time and cooperation.
Hisoka was putting back on his gear, as they had been politely asked to relinquish their weapons. That said, He still had other weapons in storage, and Misumi had stored her rifle as well. Had things turned ugly they likely would've been able to gun their way out, but thankfully it didn't come to that. As he finished strapping on his chest rig and moving his MK23 back into its holster, the girl from the alley came up to him.
"Thank you back there, no one else bothered to help me. I don't even want to imagine what those men would've done if you hadn't shown up," she shuddered at that thought.
"It was no problem really. I'm happy to have been able to help," Hisoka replied.
Despite his cold nature and his ability to kill a man on a dime with no emotion, not even he could stand by and watch a woman be violated.
"Are you two, perhaps adventurers?" asked the girl timidly.
"Well, we are registered with the guild I suppose," Hisoka responded.
Her eyes lit up and she asked, "I know this is a sudden and selfish request, but could I join you two? I've already registered at the guild, but no one else would form a party with me. I can only perform basic healing magic, no one wanted to let me join them," she said with a downcast look.
"I eventually had to take a job at the bar to support my basic needs, and I would always be pestered by drunk men there. Today it was almost very bad..."
She regained her hopeful attitude, "I may not be extremely helpful in combat but I can treat minor wounds easily, and I wouldn't mind performing chores or carrying gear,"
Hisoka took a look at Misumi to see her response, she simply shrugged, as if to say "it's your deal, not mine."
Hisoka went back to the girl, who was anxiously awaiting a response.
"I don't have any problems with it, and that magic ability sounds like a useful addition. Out of curiosity, is it possible for you to strengthen that ability?"
"It would require attending a magic academy, being personally tutored, or performing a hellish amount of self-study," she glumly replied.
"Ah that's ok, I was just curious. If you would be fine traveling with us, I would eagerly accept your proposition. If you join, I have a method that will help you grow far stronger quickly," Hisoka looked down to the pistol at his hip and Misumi gave a nod.

"Thank you! I am so happy to finally be able to go adventuring," she said with a smile, "You won't expect me to perform things will you?" she asked suddenly with an uneasy expression.
Hisoka Frowned, "Of course not. All I expect of you is to do your best and get along well with us. I won't ask such things of you."
Misumi nodded at his words, reassuring the girl.
"Ah, let us get formalities out of the way. My name is Hisoka, and I come from a foreign land. This is my companion Misumi," he said, and Misumi gave an earnest smile.
The girl had a curious expression, "She's not you're slave then?"
Hisoka sighed, "Short answer, no. I can explain it in more detail later if you wish."
She nodded, "My name is Aki, though I don't carry a last name as my parents left me at an orphanage as an infant."
Hisoka smiled, "Pleasure to meet you, Aki."
They left the guard station and decided to head back to the tavern.
"Do you plan to keep working in the tavern? I'm fairly certain I can support us all financially, but it's ok if you'd like to. I'm merely curious," Hisoka asked.
She thought on it for a moment, "I suppose I have no reason to keep the job now huh."
When they arrived at the tavern Hisoka ordered drinks and punched his food card. Meanwhile, Aki was in the back resigning from her job. Misumi was simply enjoying some liquor as she sat next to Hisoka. Aki returned and Hsioka passed her a drink. She thanked him and they all enjoyed their orders silently. It wasn't a bad silence, merely they had no need to speak as they sat and enjoyed their drinks and later, their meals.
Hisoka kept his drinking low but noticed Misumi going slightly overboard. She was an adult, so Hisoka had no need to scold her on it, but he gave her a slight warning not to drink too much as he got up after laying the payment for Aki's meal and their drinks. Aki followed him and they went to the inn's reception desk.
The clerk noticed him with a different girl this time and smirked. Hisoka frowned and the man regained a neutral expression.
"How may I help you today?" he asked.
Hisoka put forward 19 silver and five copper coins, after making calculations on his previous payment.
"I'd like to book another room for 13 days please."
The man counted all the coinage, but it was a perfect amount. He nodded and produced a food card with 13 marks.
It was a room next to Hisoka's, so there would be no trouble finding it. She thanked Hisoka and went off to her room.

Now comes the fun part: it was time for Hisoka to consider which firearm to gift her. First, he would check his stats. Killing 25 combatants between the bandits and the men earlier must have boosted his stats.

[Resilience] Lv 1 (30/300)
[Firearm Instructer] Lv 1 (89/100)
He was intrigued by the weapons upgrade and checked.
Modern Weapon Summons Lv. 3
[The ability to summon the necessary ammunition and weapons of a from the user's previous world to the current world.]
Lv. 1: Summon basic equipment and 1 firearm and it's ammunition up to a 5.56 semi-automatic rifle per day

Lv. 3: Extention of caliber up to 6.8 SPC. Raise weapon cap to 2 per day.
He smiled in glee. With that, he knew exactly what he needed. He watched as a familiar blob of light appeared on the floor, creating a long object and 3 smaller objects. He watched with glee as the SOCOM M1110 appeared in front of him, chambered in 6.5. There were 3 magazines of precision ammo sitting before him, and he felt sad that he was giving it away. he quickly checked the ammo cost: 7 MP for a 20 round magazine, 15 MP for a box of 50 rounds. He noticed that despite the difference in caliber, when the capacity and round count were the same, so was the MP cost.
He also brought upon another P226 for her to use. After it finished materializing with 3 mags, he went about MP distribution. She would certainly need a sling for the long gun. He brought upon a sling and skillfully attached it. Next, the most pressing matter, ammo. with 70 MP to spend, he summoned:
20x 12 gauge rounds
60x 9mm rounds
2x 20 round 9mm P226 magazines
3x M110 20 round magazines
1x MK23 magazine
With that, he was restocked and the girls would be good to go for now. He stored everything in his pouch and laid on the bed, intending to get some shuteye.
The door opened, and he turned his head to see a red-faced Misumi. He began to say her name questioningly when she began removing her clothing.
"Misumi... What are you doing?" he asked feeling things he shouldn't towards his obviously drunk companion.
"I'm here to please you... To make up for all you've done for me. All I have to offer to you is my body."
"Misumi stop, you're drunk. You know I would never ask that of you," Hisoka said softly yet with an air of caution.
She began to cry as she sat half-clothed on her bed, "You're the only human that has been nice to me. You freed me, gave me these wonderful weapons, and even let me stay with you even though everyone else in this kingdom would only look at me with disgust or worse... You're the only one. My, my entire village was slaughtered or taken prisoner by those barbarians called soldiers of the Taris kingdom. I tried to fight back, I really tried. They killed my mother in front of me, while others did things far worse to the villages, other women. My father was merely slain by an unfair amount of opponents as he tried to protect us. The men shackled me and dragged me off before I blacked out and awoke as a slave."
She was crying heavily now. Hisoka sat up and hugged her.
He calmly stroked her hair and gave her a shoulder to cry on, "Of course I would treat you kindly. Where I come from we treat each other as equals, and we don't discriminate. Of course, I would let you keep me company, in fact, I'm extremely grateful you decided to stay with me. You have no need to try and pay me back, especially with your body. I see you as someone I treasure and wish to protect, I would never let those bastards harm you again. In fact, I would raise this city if anything were to happen to you done by those fools."He told her as he wiped away her tears and looked her in the eyes.
She had poured her heart out and shared her worries with him, along with that, she was extremely drunk. She fell asleep still lightly sobbing in his arms as he softly stroked her hair and murmured everything was alright. He lay her on the bed and carefully tucked her under the covers, before fetching an extra blanket from reception and preparing a bed on the floor. He did his best to clear his mind of what happened to help himself sleep, and bit by bit, he melted into the darkness of sleep.

Clarent Saga: Chronicles
Based on my work on Saga of the Jewels, I've been hired by an indie game developer to write the novel for their 'novel + turn-based battles' game which is in Early Access on Steam. Of course, a 'novel + turn based battles' is a terrible idea for a game, which is why no other games like this exist, but hey, the developer is paying me. And if something's worth doing at all, it's worth doing as well as possible, so I am going to give this project my very best shot and try to make it as good as it can be. So if you read this, please give me feedback on the story to help me make it as good as it can be! Please note, for this story I have been given a pre-existent set of characters, character back-story sketches and a rough plot to work with. I also have to insert random battles into the narrative, have set characters appear in a certain order, and have the party fight fixed bosses in a certain order, all at fixed points! Please also note that this is a first draft. I will be editing and re-working this in the future and re-posting it. But I need helpful feedback, if anyone can give it. You can also find the game version of this on Steam by searching there for 'Clarent Saga: Chronicles'.
