《YOLO?》Chapter 28

Day 1,331
Six days passed by in a blur. I fought everyday in the arena in hopes to get chosen by the audience to join the tournament as one of the top ten.
I have grown a lot over the past 3 years as did Ran.
I am now about 5"7 and weigh about 160 lbs in pure muscle. I'm pretty big for a child my age. I have the body of a Greek god. I am so proud of myself. In my old life I had a six pack but barely. Now my abs are very defined and I look at them everyday. I occasionally go out to the arena with my shirt off to show the ladies in the crowd and they love it.
Ran became pretty popular in the arena also. She grew up to be almost 5 feet and weighs about 110 lbs in my estimate.
A lot of old perverted guys cheer for her. I guess they have a fetish for young female gladiators that kill their opponents by beheading them.
I learned a lot during the past 3 years. I mostly lost when I first became a gladiator and got a lot of scars. I'm lucky that I survived up to this point and I thank Arlinus for that.
Most of the gladiators here are friend with each other but they never get too close to each other because you never know when you might have to kill each other the next day.
You usually get paired up to fight that is in the same weight class as you so luckily I haven't been paired up against Ran or beast men for that matter.
Beast men are the main attraction in Coliseum most of the usually don't fight with any weapons. They are really strong. They have insane instincts and are ridiculously strong.
If I get picked for the tournament it won't matter who I fight cause I'm gonna fuck them all up with my magic.

I haven't used magic in over 3 years. I hope I haven't gotten rusty.
Tonight the main announcer who speaks to the crowd during matches is gonna announce who has been voted to enter the tournament.
"Good evening everyone. As you all may know I am here to announce the nominees that have been chosen by our amazing audience for the tournament tomorrow.
Without further ado first up is....
Hanson!."-Announcer
There are claps for him.
"Second is.... blah blah blah blah blah, sixth is... Ptolemy, seventh is... Harken... eighth is.... Ran."-Announcer
I slowly get scared as I fear that i wasn't chosen.
"Ninth is... blah blah (some loser) and finally.... lucky number ten is..... Regis!"-Announcer
'Whew I nearly piss myself.'
With that said I go up to the announcer.
"Excuse me can you take my collar off? I want to be able to use magic for the tournament."-Me
"Well I didn't expect a child like you to be able to use magic. Hmmm... I guess I have to make another announcement."-Announcer
"Excuse me everyone. Those of you who have been chosen for the tournament and you can use magic please come to the training area so we can do something with your collars to allow you to use magic for the duration of the tournament."-Announcer
Ran, me Harken (dark elf) and two other guys come to the training area with the training dummies and a mage is there.
He fiddles around with our collars and I fell magic on his finger tips.
"Okay I changed the collars so that you can use magic but you can only use it on training dummies if you are not in battle otherwise you head will explode."-Mage
With that said the mage left to do something else in the room.
Excited at finally being able to use magic for a long time I walk a certain distance away from the training dummies and begin releasing random of high class bolts of magic at the dummies.

Everyone in the room is looking at me in shock except for Ran.
Even the mage that took off the release in our collar comes up to me.
"How do you know such advanced spells? And why the fuck are you a gladiator? How the fuck did you become a slave?"-Mage
I ignore him and just experiment with my magic after not being able to use my mana for a long time.
Ran goes up and does the same thing I do and everyone looks at her with equal shock.
Everyone begins to whisper to each other that they should be careful of us. I mean it is pretty surprising to see a gladiator able to use magic and pretty strong magic at that.
The chosen gladiators even the ones that can use magic look at us cautiously.
I spend the rest of the night creating new spells and experimenting. I am able to come up with new strategies and teach some to Ran.
Obviously I didn't teach her everything cause I'm gonna win this thing. I gotta have a few surprises up my sleeve if I ever go against her.
Day 1,332
It is the day of the tournament. There are hundred of competitors from all over the world. I guess this is why they only chose ten gladiators.
There are 5 blocks. Blocks A,B,C,D, and E.
I was put in block D, Ran was in E, Hanson in A, Ptolemy in C with Harken. I don't care about the rest of the gladiators.
The first fight is basically a free for all. Everyone against everyone until there are 5 left standing to weed out the weaklings.
There are bets going around everywhere. Sigh... too bad I don't have any money. I would have bet all on me and would have been rich.
Block A is up first. It ends in about an hour. Hanson obviously made it. There were no notable aspects about the 5 people that made.
In Block B there was a dwarf that I noticed. This guy used an axe typical of a dwarf. But something about him bothered me. He made it to the final 5 and moved on.
Ptolemy and Harken made it to the top 5 of their group in Block C. There were 2 orcs that I noticed and I saw many people betting on them.
Finally it was my turn in block D.
It was over in 5 minutes. I broke the fucking record.
When the announcer rang the bell for the fight to start I quickly made a tornado and blew everyone away. It was pretty funny watching them get blown into the stands and falling on top of people.
I was the only survivor in block D.
Everyone rushed to place their bets on me for the next fight.
The rest of the competitors look at me warily except for Ran and the dwarf. The dwarf just looked amused.
It was Ran's turn in block E. Ran was more subtle about using magic than I was. She just used wind magic to quickly move around and kill people. She made it to the top 5 with some other chumps that barely made it.
The tournament bracket would be decided tomorrow and the tournament for today ended and everyone went home.
Day 1,333
The names were drawn randomly and I was in the 7th fight against some loser that used two swords. Thus the real part of the tournament began.
