Chapter 0 – Don’t jinx it
‘trrrrrrrrr trr trrrrr trr trrrr tr trrr’
“Ughh…”
I wake up to an annoying alarm clock. I rub my eyes trying to open them but notice that it’s just so damn dark that I can’t see anything. I finally managed to turn off the alarm and notice that it’s already 4 o’clock AM.
“Shit!”
I quickly get up from the bed and search for the light switch when a sudden wave of nausea hits me.
“Ufghh !”
‘Damn, Shouldn’t have drank so much yesterday.’ The moment these thoughts crossed my mind I found the switch. Blinding light illuminated my small room and that definitely didn’t help me get a grip on myself. Still fighting nausea I quickly grab something to wear, open the doors and step out from my room.
The moment my eyes got used to the dimmed light from the city behind the windows I froze. The scene I saw could be described with only one word. – Apocalypse – .
The flat I was living in was quite small and atop of that I was living here with 5 more flatmates so my room that was a remade storeroom connected directly to the kitchen.
There were 3 of my friends sleeping on the kitchen floor and one of them was wrapped completely in an aluminum foil and two others in some kind of red pasta. The floor itself was covered in some sort of yellowish liquid that was oozing from the fridge. Oven door was missing and oven looked as if something exploded inside.
‘Jesus, what happened here yesterday?’ Unfortunately even Jesus didn’t have an answer for me as I wondered what happened here. And how that’s possible I didn’t hear a thing when I was sleeping just beyond the doors?

Yesterday me and my friends made a small party because we somehow made it through ours final exams this year. We are studying at a sport focused university so our exams are easier than most but nonetheless difficult when you don’t study much. I have a summer training camp starting today so I had to excuse myself from the party a bit early. It looks like a lot happened when I was sleeping. We are supposed to meet at the university at 4:30 AM so I don’t really have time to ponder what happened here.
Ignoring the mess in the kitchen I proceed to the bathroom. Carefully stepping over two more corpses peacefully sleeping persons in the hallway I finally reach my destination. As soon as I open the doors to the bathroom I immediately close them.
“………”
‘Ok. Seriously. WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED HERE YESTERDAY ?!’ I slowly open the doors trying to ignore three naked men embracing each other sleeping in a bathtub. I try to quickly do my business while trying to ignore slowly moving unidentified thing that one of the men hold in his hand. Now refreshed and traumatized I go back to my room to get my backpack because I don’t have any more time to waste here If I don’t want to be late.
I quickly put on my shoes and check the time on my phone. 4:21. If I hurry then I shouldn’t be late. My flat is about 10 minutes on foot from my university so if I hurry I should be ok.
8 minutes later I finally arrive at the meeting spot. Noticing my two friends in the crowd of students I go to greet them.
“Hi there maggots.”
“ ..ugh morning…”
“Hello…”
They weakly respond.
“Looks like I’m not the only one with a hangover.”

“Yeeeahhh, I wonder whose brilliant idea was to make a party right before the camp.” A skinny and short but unexpectedly muscular boy with short black hair and blue eyes answer me with a glare.
“Well Josh, it’s not like he told us to drink so much.” This time it was a big man with a short brown hairs and brown eyes that overall looked quite similar to myself.
“Well said Steve. Beside you didn’t have to watch the aftermath.” I say with a shiver.
“Is it that bad?” – Steve.
“Yeah. Thanks god we are leaving today, otherwise I would need to find a new place to live.” – Me.
“Sigh, I wonder how it is so that you always manage to find a way to dodge worst of the mess.” – Josh
I make a win pose and say.
“Ha! It’s a natural talent of the eternal winner, so don’t think you will ever be like me.” – Me.
“… I wonder how come we are still friends with an asshole like you” – Josh.
Suddenly Steve grabs us by the shoulders and drag us toward the buses that we will travel to the camp.
“Quit your love talk and come. I don’t want to end up in a bus without air conditioning.” – Steve.
We quickly made our way to the bus Steve deemed high class enough for his noble ass and after finding some free seats we talked some more till we set off.
After some time Steve dozed off and Josh had his headphones on so with nothing better to do I was staring at the fast moving landscapes. We were moving on a highway at some impressive speed so I couldn’t really admire the views until we were on a part of the highway that was next to the sea. It was still early morning so I could watch the sunrise over the sea. As I was watching the views, Josh suddenly said something.
“You know what it remind me of?”
I didn’t really get on what he was talking about so I stayed silent.
“Final Destination 2” – Josh.
I wondered what it was all about so I looked where he was looking and saw a huge truck full of wooden logs.
“It look the same as in that scene when the truck got a flat tire” – Josh.
I looked at him for a while and said a bit nervously.
“Hey, don’t jin..”
I didn’t managed to finish my line when a loud noise could be heard. Sound similar to a gunshot. I looked back to the front and the last thing I saw ware huge wooden logs flying all around the bus and one directly through the bus.
My last thought was.
‘GODDAMN YOU JOSH !!!!’
