《Shard》03 - Testing

I’m not gonna lie, it’s kinda weird seeing a human this far from their established space. Especially when their established space is a good couple million astra away. Weirder still, why were they smack dab in the middle of Divine territory? I’m pretty sure we’re on an extermination campaign against them, although it hasn’t been going as well as we’d hoped. We will probably be stuck erasing them for the next couple millennia, but that’s fine. I mean, everyone has to do overtime occasionally. And anyways, its not like I can’t take care of a single human.
Now that I looked closer, it seemed that the human had company. A furry creature of the same height as the human, and a blue scaled creature a good bit taller than the human. Although I had little knowledge of the mortal races, I had enough to know that this crew was unusual, especially given the location that they were in. I observed them some more, namely the female human sitting at the helm of their small vessel. They were having a heated discussion, which wasn’t surprising given where they were. I attempted to listen in an attempt to glean any information, however my abilities could only stretch so far. There was only so much power Moloch was willing to give me, and I had to be careful with how I used it. In any case, I didn’t need to listen, because with the speed and trajectory they were travelling at, there was only one possible location they were headed towards.
They were going to the Soul Vault.
This puzzled me slightly. Why would mortals be heading to the Soul Vault? Its not like they could eat souls, and besides, why would mortal souls be interested in consuming other mortal souls? How often do you hear about cattle consuming one another? Even though I was perplexed, I still had to carry out my duty, so I headed out to intercept them. Maybe I would also get to interrogate and consume their essences as well. With this thought lifting my spirits, I approached them quickly. I raised my sword in anticipation, ready to smite them from the heavens. At least, that’s what I intended to do.

So why are my legs missing? Wait, what’s that light? Is it coming from the vessel? Oh Moloch, I need to get away from here and warn him. I need to---

“The weapons test has been successful, Ma’am. With two shots, we managed to eliminate an Archangel class divine entity. Do you want me to send the data back to HQ now?”
“I don’t see why not, Kaan. In fact, there’s no reason to stay here any longer. Let’s tell HQ in person. Moro, set a course back to the Milky Way. We’ll leave immediately”
“Yes Ma’am. Departure in ten seconds. Buckle in and brace yourselves”.
At that moment, the ship simply vanished from where it was without any fanfare.

Windwalker
Having subdued its surrounding enemies, the former Sulic Empire is faced with unrest brewing from within. Society is torn in two. The reigning mentalists constantly persecute the subjugated elementals under the pretence of curbing the explosive potential of their destructive powers. Meanwhile, schemes and political interests clash as different groups within the Governance military elite vie for control. And in the shadows, Sulic’s old enemies have been lying in wait a long time, looking for the first sign of weakness to make their move. Book One: Rising Wind Kal has trained to be a soldier his entire life. His days are simple, and his duties clear: enforce the rules, upkeep the peace, and most important — police the elementals. Despite his training and the advice of friends, he decides to help him onto what he believes is the right path.
