《the Otherworld Scientific Researcher》Chapter 16: Bandit Conflict

Raynor looks at the group in front of him, his blood boils looking at these people that have nothing better to do but to find trouble for him. Recently, he has encountered many kinds of people that wants to threaten him. All of it reminds him of his persecution and betrayal back on Earth.
Raynor isn’t a saint, nor is he a good hearted person. His heart has long been hardened by the harshness of society that casted him away. Anyone that bears hostility towards him, he won’t show mercy.
[And what if I refuse?] Raynor glares at the bunch of bandits and answers back.
The bandits didn’t expect to receive a reply like that. Normally their victims will give what they demanded and beg for their life. They rarely encounter any retaliation from their prey. But in this kind of circumstances, they have their own way of doing things. They are called bandits, naturally their jobs is to plunder and kill.
One of the bandits surrounding them steps forward with a grin on his face. He is the first one chosen to step out and eliminate any resistance. They obviously don’t need all 8 of them to settle 2 young and helpless civilian.
Raynor looks at the man in front and those surrounding him, he is troubled on what to do. All of them has large body build for a normal human, and they have fierce looks with scars and piercings all over. Compare to those that he met back in the forest, they look stronger and they have twice their amount.
[Raynor, please hold back as much as you can, don’t kill them if possible.. and also don’t involve those innocent around us..]
Yuria stops Raynor when he is about to retaliate. Raynor is troubled on how to deal with these many people and get out of this mess safely, but Yuria seems calm and tells him to hold back without killing them. This makes him confuse. Does she have this much faith in him?

Raynor also don’t want to hurt those innocents around. He is not a cold blooded person. Those that remains neutral towards him, he would rather not injured them. Looking at the big sized bandit walking towards him, while holding a knife, Raynor prepared to engage him in close combat, because all of his range attacks target a large area.
He wants to test the effectiveness of his powered armor suit in close combat. Although his powered armor suit mostly focused on range attacks and has high defense capability, but it also has functions that allows him to move object several times his weight and speed enhance capability.
As Raynor poses a defensive stance, the bandit became excited, because he finally has someone to play with. Normally, their preys are too submissive, which makes life too boring for a bandit.
He grins at Raynor, licked his knife and rush towards Raynor. Raynor carefully estimate the distance between them. When the bandit almost enters his range of attack, Raynor moves a step forward and throws a punch at full speed, with the help of his powered armor.
As the strike from Raynor landed on the bandit’s body, followed by a burst of acceleration that boost the impact force. The feeling of resistance of punching a punching bag from Raynor’s imagination didn’t occur. Rather, what he feels like is punching water, and the bandit in front of him flew back several distance away in a ‘>’ shape. His bones all broken, bleeding from every part of his body, and clearly not breathing anymore.
Raynor looks blankly at the body several meters away. He has been holding back a bit because of Yuria’s request. But that guy is too weak, many times weaker than those he met back in the forest, despite his looks that makes him feels much stronger.

While Raynor is troubled by how weak that guy is, the rest of the bandits are now troubled by how strong their victim is despite his weak appearance. A person that can instant kill a rank F warrior is no joke. Even though the rank E bandit also can instant kill a rank F, but not to this degree of brutal fatality. This can only mean that their prey is at least a rank D warrior or higher. Which means he can instant kill the strongest in that group of bandits.
The bandits finally realized that they have offended someone that they shouldn’t offend. Feeling a sense of regret, they take the opportunity while Raynor is not paying attention to them and escape as fast as they could. The area that was crowded a moment ago, in an instant, it only left the presence of 2 people, and dust flying around.
Raynor is standing there dumbfounded. The sight of several people with large body build and fierce looks running away from him like he is their worst nightmare. That feeling he has no words to express.
[That’s why I told you to hold back. Not everyone we meet are high ranking..] Yuria sigh and said.
[Seems like I gain a bit more understanding of this world’s common sense now.]
After that, they continue on and head towards the city gate.
.
Not long after they left the place, a person emerges from the ground where the battle slaughter took place just now.
A person with a small body build and around the height of 130cm with a large bamboo straw hat covering the head.
[Interesting person desu... ]

Zara has lived most of her life with the threat of death hanging over her head, though it never averted her heightening curiosity about magic, nor the abilities innate within her. And when a powerful, enigmatic Sorcerer comes to her with a proposition, Zara finally sees her chance to embrace the curse she was born with. It was a chance laced with precarity and destruction, but a chance nonetheless...
