Chapter 3: Threat!
===============================================================================================================
This world is too calm even for somewhere in the deep forest when I heard that there were [Demons] I immediately thought that they were gonna try and take over the world, I mean when you hear the word demons don't you always think of those words first.
Well since it's peaceful I can just keep myself safe inside this forest lazily spending my days until I reach the pinnacle of magicians without any battle experience whatsoever. I just wish there was some small threat or excitement or else I'd probably be bored out of my mind because there are no teenagers or anyone my age to talk to. If I talk to gramps about grown up stuff he may get suspicious or anything.
As I was lost in thought I heard a knock on my door. Knock knock. After a few seconds the door opened and gramps' head popped out.
"Kai, we are gonna go hunting."
"Hunting?"
"You know that this is a forest right?"
"Yes..?"
"Well deeper down the road we can encounter monsters."
"Can I defeat them?"
"Of course you can."
"Should I bring anything with me just in case?"
"Bring your shortsword, scrolls, potions, and other weapons since we are hunting monsters and not regular animals."
"Nn."
I decide to not question any further and just follow gramps' instructions. After I gathered my scrolls I put them in a bag located in my belt. This is not an ordinary bag as it actually includes a dimensional portal that puts anything in another dimension. It has limited space and last I tested it out it could handle up until 1 meter worth of space. Very limited but I'm not knowledgable enough or have the materials to make it bigger but apparently 1 meter is already an unimaginable storage space. I have very little knowledge of how strong this world is when it comes to magic but at least I'll be able put up a fight when it comes to regular bandits or maybe a [Hybrid]. [Hybrids] are basically other races mixed with another race. If it is a cross-breed between human and cat naturally there will be a cat human, most people think this is amazing cause they can fantasize about cat girls and all that but this world isn't that nice so I haven't seen any [Hybrids].
Since [Humans] are the weakest race I still have no idea how I'm gonna defeat other races but [God] races are unstoppable war machines. My gramps once told me that one [God] can wipe out humanity with ease. When it comes to gifts humans tend to have the lowest talent, in a scale of 1-10, if a [Human] is born they will have 1, if a [Hybrid] is born they will have 2, and if a [God] is born they will have 15. Yes, that's apparently how strong they are.
Fortunately [Gods] are not the omniscient or omnipotent beings you think they are. They are just really overpowered beings that can squash all the other races but refuse to do so. You will never see a [God] with another [God] unless they are fighting or accidentally crossed paths with each other momentarily. They do not like the presence of each other or other races. The only race that dare defy [Gods] are [Demons]. [Angels] are like guards to [Gods] but in the talent scale they score a 9. That should be enough about other

races and I'll just continue the story.
"Kai, are you ready now?"
"Yes gramps."
Gramps opens the door and we set off to a deeper part of the forest. Unlike other grandpas he's not that too old-looking, probably a spell cast by him to make him look like a regular adult and not an old man. He is brown-haired, green-eyed, and is 5.6 feet tall. By the way I am black-haired, blue-eyed and currently 4 feet tall. What would you expect from a 10 year old? Anyway as me and gramps walk into the forest I look at the surrounding areas and just memorize them with my [Photographic Memory] but this is an
upgraded version where everything has color and not just black and white. Wait now that I notice, how will I know where an enemy is or how strong it is?
"Gramps how will I find the enemy?"
"When you focus enough you can feel the life force of surrounding people and even monsters."
"How will I determine how strong they are?"
"Well some people are born with [Battle Sense] which they can feel how strong their enemies are but.."
"But?"
"Regular people have no way of knowing without some sort of skill."
"I see."
I think I have a skill that can help me figure that out. I cast [Observe] and look at gramps.

These status's are inhumane, well he IS level 279 so it is acceptable. I wonder if I'll be stronger than gramps when I reach that level. As for anyone wondering how this status window appears in front of us, it is only visible to the person trying to see it. So if you are checking on your own status nobody else would be able to see it. Which is really favorable for some who want to boast while nobody can really see it. Apparently strength in this world is absolute, anyone who is as strong as the ruler of a certain area may inherit it if the person defeats the previous owner, they will earn the right to inherit the position of ruler. Of course this doesn't work on Kingdoms and only works on villages and cities, so if there are dukes or a village chief, they are all stronger than anyone in the village.
I wonder why I have more skills, special skills, and titles than gramps. Well in terms of pure attack he's still stronger. I better get stronger to not be treated as a pushover when I travel.
"Hey gramps can you give me the basics on how to feel the surrounding life force?"
"Well sure, first of all you have to stay calm and make your observation powers keen. Do not be distracted by bird chirping, other people talking, you must be calm as water."

"I think I got that part down."
"Now send over your magic in the surrounding area."
"Won't that just crush the plants around me?"
"Release it bit by bit and make it go longer instead of stronger."
"Okay."
"Now everytime your magic hits a living being it should be able to send the signal back to you. When it does you will see an aura floating above those living beings."
I focus on my magic, as gramps instructed I release it slowly and wave like signals come out, these also return when they hit something alive apparently. A wave returned to me, it feels just like a tool used in modern times. SONAR but I guess it's a bit more advanced
seeing as how I don't need any special tools. I open my eyes and then I can feel an aura coming from gramps, the birds, and something deeper in the forest.
"Gramps I see your aura."
"Very good, most people would take quite a few tries. But becareful if an extremely powerful aura were to release their magic at you you'd be supressed."
"Like how?"
"I'll show you."
Gramps suddenly increased his magic power and I got the feeling of pressure he was talking about, it became harder to breathe and my body was as heavy as a rock. Then it suddenly vanished.
"That's an example of increasing magic pressure."
"Amazing.."
"Of course it won't work against stronger opponents since it uses power rather than control and if you increase it high enough most people would be unconscious."
"That really is powerful!"
That means if I get stronger I don't need to even get close to fight, I can just defend myself using my magic power, I don't need to cast spells or anything, but I still have questions.
"Gramps what if the other people don't search for auras?"
"They will still feel the pressure just the same as plants feel the pressure of being crushed."
"I see."
This is really good information I will definitely have to use this in the future.
As gramps and I were walking I felt my breathing become heavier. I was getting tired and gramps seems to have noticed something.
"Kai, stay back there is an extremely powerful presence here."
Already?! I mean I can't feel anything so what is it?!
"My guess is it is an SS-Class monster. Its power is a bit too much for you right now seeing as it is probably a magic type monster, they can cast spells and other types of magic."
"[Heal]"
I relax my tired muscles with a green light from my hand. But now I feel hot?
"Gramps I feel hot."
"Me too. It feels like some sort of fire spell?!"
"?!"
I suddenly see an orange light in the sky and it was heading towards us. 1..2..3, there are 3 huge orange lights going down.
"[Fireballs]?! Kai, get down!"
"!"
I did not question gramps and immediately got down but I kept looking upwards at the threat about to hit us. The [Fireballs] were at least the size of a boulder!
"This might cause some backlash to the forest."
Gramps cast a huge shield made of magic as he said [Barrier]. The [Fireballs] suddenly looked strange, they were shaking. A crack? I see a crack on the [Fireball]?
"This is bad!"
"What is it?!"
"Those aren't [Fireballs], that is [Fire Barrage]!"
"[Fire Barrage]?!"
I heard from gramps that [Fire Barrage] originates from a large [Fireball] and split into many small ones, the piercing power is better than a full one because of the barrage of fireballs with destructive power continously hitting, I never thought that the first time I would see it may be my last.
"I can definitely defend against it, but I also have to douse out the water or else the whole forest will be engulfed in flames!"
"I can help with that!"
After thinking for a brief moment gramps answered.
"Get your strongest water spell and aim it at the trees!"
"I got it!"
The [Fire Barrage] is now nearing only a few more seconds.. It looks absolute terrifying, once you see the sky it looks like it's raining fire.
The [Fire Barrage] lands on the barrier and we receive some of the shock. It felt as if there was an earthquake but it was even more terrifying.
"Guh!"
Gramps spits out blood as the fire barrage ends.
"[Heal]"
I use my heal on gramps which made him recover some of the lost blood and cure the internal damage. Then I focus on the trees and cast [Wave] a type of water spell and it doused the flames.
"We need to move before they cast another spell, that spell took a long time to cast so they must be preparing for a new one."
"I think I can feel their aura, it is 50 meters away."
"It's getting nearer. No wait, something is wrong, mage type monsters never go near the enemy."
All of a sudden we were surrounded by monsters that looked frightening beyond belief but were just regular animals that became larger and had a more creepy vibe. But the focus isn't their looks, but their number.
"This is bad!"
"Gyahahaha!"
All of a sudden we heard a weird voice laughing behind the monsters.
"How do you like my army?!"
"Dark Guild..!"
Dark Guild?!

After Z
The signs were all there. A mysterious fever spreading in the wake of the pandemic. Increasing incidents of unrest with surprisingly little coverage by the media. Breakdowns in basic services. Nick had thought for years that total social collapse would come in his lifetime – he just never expected that collapse to come from the unquiet dead. As soon as he was sure enough that the potential danger outweighed the awkwardness of admitting that yes, the dead were rising, Nick grabbed his bug out bag and bugged out. It felt, at times, that the zombie movies, comics, and games he’d grown up with had been preparing for this moment. And Nick was right. But also very very wrong. After Z is an apocalyptic occult interactive serial about survivors hiding from the dead in a forest preserve. A new chapter is posted every week, and every week supporters vote on which way the story flows. This story will be added to daily until it's caught up with its current state elsewhere; if you don't want to wait you can read ahead on my blog.
