Chapter 33: The Battle Result

A week went by since the fight at the gate, the allied force had won over the bandit and mercenaries trying to invade, but at what cost.

Many had died, more than expected.

Battlefield ending results:

1106 vs 1802

Robert 1/1 (still alive)

The Shadow hunters: 3/4 (Jack, passed away by poisoning)

750/1106 (750 have died in the battle)

John (Big Sword guy, from the guildhall): 1/1 (Still alive)

Leader: 0/2 (all dead)

Bandits/Mercenaries: 400/1800+ (The rest fled)

Jack was buried next to the guildhall, honoring him as a hero who saved the town with everyone who was fighting that day, the past week seemed like hell for most of the people, they knew they were safe now, but many had died.

The king that sent allies as reinforcements asked nearby kingdoms to support the town, in this time of need, over two thousand men arrived two weeks passed the battle already.

The people gladly took them in, as they were deadly scared of another invasion of bandits or mercenaries or worse.

The new guards were more strict than the ones that had died before, they were way more alert and switched places often.

Grey blamed himself for Jack his death, even when the others told him it was not his fault, nobody saw the knife coming before it was too late, and even if he did, a small cut would have killed him.

After the fight when the bandits fled after seeing the leaders had died, Grey took the knife with him to a man in town, the man was not a fighter, but he knew a lot about poisons, he was the one that immediately came to Jack after the fight, but the poison already took effectively down his organs, slowly killing him within.

The man named 'Paul', told him something very interesting, the poison was normally not in use by humans at all, only by the shadows on their weapons, which would mean, they were sent here by the shadows.

Grey pays the man, as he leaves the shop, 'I will revenge you, Jack... I swear'.
