《Terror Explored (a terror infinity fanfic)》Stone Cold Killer

By the time the team found Sydney’s house the sun had begun to set, casting an almost pink light on the clouds. After confirming it was the right house, Logan drove the car a few more minutes and parked in another neighborhood.
“You don’t actually expect me to walk all the way back there?” Elijah asked
“Have Brutus carry you,” Logan said as he opened his door. The leader jumped out and the rest of the team followed suit. Everyone who brought a bag shouldered it quietly and the group began to walk down the street. Brutus paused in front of Elijah and moved to pick him up but was swatted away. The group walked in silence for a moment. When they reached the end of the road they came to a stop and formed a hasty circle.
“Remember Sidney doesn’t know we’re on her side” Logan reminded “God decided we didn't need a cover this time. If she sees us she’s likely to call the cops, we can easily outrun them but that might mess up our chance of seeing the killers”
“Don’t we know the killers already?” Louie asked “I haven’t seen this movie in years but I remember they revealed the killers”
“Right now the only thing I know is God changed something to endanger Sidney” Logan said “tonight is our chance to see what it is. Keep your eyes and mind open, we aren't sure what we’ll be facing”
“Can I get a gun then” Louie requested
“Eve” Logan said and waved an arm.
Eve produced the storage wand from her pocket and gave a quick flick of the wrist. Instantly a black plastic guitar case appeared in front of the group. Logan was the only one who moved fast enough to catch the summoned item before it hit the ground.
“Here you go” he said handing the carrier to Louie “it’s put together and fully loaded but the safety is on”
“Thanks” Louie said, grabbing the case by its handle
“Elijah are the others in your range?” Logan asked, turning to face the psyche force user
“Everyone should be” Elijah said “Josh and Lance shouldn’t go far enough to leave it. Matt and Crystal are within my range and since they are stationary I can reach them easily. Within seven seconds I say, the other two will take longer since I’ll need to relocate them. So don’t rush me tonight, I’m already giving you my times”
“Get your timing right and I won’t complain” Logan retorted “Take a moment and locate Lance or Josh. Get an update of their general location then come connect to me. Once Skye, Louie, and I are in hiding spots we’ll need you to keep a constant scan on the area around the house. As soon as you spot someone approaching contact me immediately and then let the other two know. Louie last, if she is in a position to snipe stay with her and help her aim”
“Quite a list” Elijah grumbled “but i’ll take care of it”
“As soon as you can contact Lance and inform him of any updates” Logan added
“That will be a problem” Elijah interrupted “I can’t scan the area around the house and reach out to anyone away from here. I can’t split my focus like that”

“I see” Logan said “a past psyche force user could do that but that might be an advanced technique”
“I’ve barely had these powers a week” Elijah complained “I need more time before I can pull off advanced moves”
“That’s fair” Logan admitted “Then contact Lance after we are in our spots to let him know we are here and then don’t worry about it without an emergency. They’ll be here soon enough”
“Fine” Elijah shrugged.
“The rest of you not coming with us head back to the car and drive to a closer street. We want you close in case we need backup, Elijah will stay connected with me as often as possible”
“Wait,” Elijah interrupted again, “why did we walk all the way down the street if we’re taking the car?”
“I figured if you had enough energy to complain you could use a walk” Logan said before turning and motioning for the others to follow. They did and the trio walked briskly down another street. Eve and Brutus watched silently as Elijah fumed at the leader’s audacity.
“Lets head back to the car” Eve said after a minute “we want to be ready if a killer is close to the house”
“Whatever” Elijah said with one last aggravated wave.
As the trio began the short walk back to the car, Elijah despite his grumblings reached out and connected to Logan’s mind. Using the psyche scan Elijah led Logan and the others towards Sidney’s house, cutting through lawns and small patches of woods. Arriving quickly the team split, Louie and Skye circled towards the front of the house while Logan went for the back. Sidney lived in a neighborhood where the houses were well spread apart, every house having at least two floors and a large yard surrounding the building. This gave the perfect opportunity to survey a neighbor.
Logan found a house not far from Sidney’s that had a garage attached to the building. Looking at the house it seemed empty, no lights on and no car in the driveway. Logan jogged up to the house and with a grand jump, cleared the height of the garage he landed on its roof. With another impressive jump he reached the house’s shingled roof and squatted behind the tip, body on the backside of the house. Lowering himself onto his stomach so only his torso and head were peaking over, Logan pulled out a set of miniature binoculars.
Looking around the neighboring houses Logan was happy to see he was positioned so he could see all of Sidney’s backyard and most of one side. He tried to spot Skye and Louie who were supposed to be trying to find a similar spot for themselves, Skye had insisted she could carry both of them to a roof. Logan was beginning to wonder if she had overestimated herself when he felt Elijah connecting to his mind.
“Skye and Louie are ready” Elijah said
“I can’t see them,” Logan informed him. In response an image appeared in his mind, Louie was inspecting her rifle on a shingled roof. Skye stood next to her looking down at Sidney’s house, the front yard in full view.
“They’re in a good spot,” Logan admitted.
“Want me to tell Lance anything?” Elijah asked

“Just inform him we’re set up and watching” Logan directed
“Alright” Elijah responded and disconnected from the leader.
Logan waited patiently, constantly scanning the yard. He wasn’t expecting anything yet but he wanted to stay vigilant. The sun had just set so the only light came through the windows from inside the house. Logan could see Sidney moving around her home as the time passed. Elijah reconnected to Logan and informed him that Josh and Lance had just gotten a vehicle and were on their way to them. After filling the leader in Elijah began to scan the area around the house, regularly checking in with Logan but not reporting anything of note.
Logan had begun to grow bored after the first couple hours, he was beginning to debate buying a portable game system from the exchanges when Elijah suddenly connected. He could feel the adrenaline the young man was experiencing through the connection.
“Ghostface to your right!” Elijah's voice rushed into Logan’s mind. An image followed showing a figure draped in black with a white mask on,expression stuck in an eternal scream. The imagined pulled back, revealing the figure was running through a nearby yard. His direction pointed to Sidney’s house.
“Let the girls know” Logan ordered and then leapt from the roof. He landed on his feet and began to run towards the approaching figure. Elijah had gone to talk to the other two so Logan no longer had the image to guide him but he didn't need it. After running towards the figure, the dragonslayer could hear footsteps, his enhanced hearing even picking up deep breathing. He rushed forward towards his prey.
Circling around a home revealed Ghostface running across the yard, Logan charged forward without hesitation. His skin glowed slightly as he prepared his scales. The masked man seemed shocked to find someone else in the yard and turned to flee. His speed was nothing special however, Logan was right behind him in seconds. With one particularly strong lunge Logan tackled the fleeing figure, the two tumbling for a moment. The white mask flew off during the fall and revealed the face of Billy Loomis, the leader of the killing duo. Logan easily pinned the teen to the ground, noting Billy didn't seem any stronger than a normal teenager. With both hands and feet pinned under Logan’s superior strength, Billy was stuck staring up at the dragonslayer.
“Who are you?” Billy demanded
“Hired security for Sidney” Logan made up on the spot
“Her dad doesn't have that kind of money” Billy retorted
“He has friends in high places” Logan said “Now what were you going to do with Sidney?”
“I was just going to visit my girlfriend” Billy said “ask her she’ll tell you”
“Don’t lie to me” Logan growled “I know you are related to the other killing”
Footsteps could be heard as Skye ran over.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about” Billy denied
Elijah connected to Logan’s mind “Lance and Josh are closeby and will be here in a few minutes. We’re pulling in down the street now”
“I have Billy pinned” Logan said “make sure Sidney is okay”
“She seems fine” Elijah said “and there was no one else in the house”
“Just keep an eye on her” Logan directed “Billy doesn’t seem like the real threat”
“Hold on,” Elijah said, his voice strained. An image appeared in Logan’s mind. He could see Sidney in her house, walking around the kitchen. She was completely unaware someone wanting her dead had been caught. Suddenly movement from across the room pulled Elijah’s attention. Behind Sidney’s back another masked figure was walking up quietly. This person also had a white mask but this one was different. It wasn't plastic but instead looked to be made of dozens of white and black stones that resembled the Ghostface appearance. A large knife was held in one of the intruder’s gloved hands.
The image and connection vanished as the new person was seen, the surprise causing Elijah to lose focus.
“Grab him!” Logan ordered Skye. Without waiting for a response he bolted past the young woman and raced towards Sidney’s house. He aimed for the front of the house, headlights shined from the road as Eve drove the others to the house. Logan could just make out the sound of glass breaking inside the house as he neared. The sound reached its peak as Sidney was thrown through her front door and into the yard. Tires squealed as Eve stopped the car a few feet from Sidney’s prone body. The masked figure stepped out the front door, his knife slightly bloody.
A shout of challenge came as Brutus jumped out the car and charged the attacker. Logan watched as the bodyguard rushed forward, both fists raised to strike. He admired the bravery the man showed to fight an unknown enemy with no hesitation The masked assailant jumped forward, knife reflecting light as he made the impossible jump to Brutus. A thud could be heard as Brutus’ head hit the ground, a second later his body joined it.
“No!” Elijah shouted from in the car.
Eve had exited the car and had an icy mist around her arms. After seeing Brutus be dispatched she chose not to run forward. Ice began to form in her hands. Logan was only seconds from reaching the masked man. The man looked towards the dragonslayer and flinched. Silently he turned and fled, Logan gave chase but soon found the man was running at the same speed. A gunshot rang across the silent night and the masked man dropped. He rose quickly, holding a hand to his hood head and continued running. Logan continued his chase but slowed as he sensed a presence. Or not a presence but a power.
The stone mask was laying on the ground abandoned.
Logan stopped by the mask, mesmerized by the power it radiated. It almost felt like the mask was calling to him. As he grew closer the power grew stronger, as if reacting to his own power. Logan picked up the stone mask, at once the feeling of power was gone. Now Logan could feel it pulsing through the mask, hinting at what he could do by wearing it.
Another gunshot rang through the night, snapping Logan out of his daze. Giving the mask one more skeptical look, he ran back towards the house. No longer interested in chasing the assailant.
