“Why did your father leave before he killed the Demon?” Lance questioned “Could it be due to your mother becoming pregnant?”

“Actually yes” Skye said with a laugh “but not for the reasons you're thinking. My father was waiting until my mother was pregnant to return to our world. Let me cover a little middle ground. My father spent a long time in this dimension fighting and trying to kill the Demon, he led the new team Devil with only this in mind. At this point their teams were at a level of strength no other team could compete with, any team battle they experienced was guaranteed to be against each other. My father told me of the last team battle they had. It lasted over a year, my father fought the Demon every chance he could get. Each time growing stronger and stronger through gifts from the inhabitants of the movie world. As his power grew his mind refined, and his hatred changed to determination. This gave him the clarity to conclude he couldn't kill the Demon. The two had too big of a strength gap and are growing at the same rate.”

“He gave up?” Logan asked

“No he made a new plan” Skye answered “He would create a person with even greater potential than any others. He would then raise and craft her to one day enter God’s Dimension and kill the Demon. After that team battle his team had grown very small. The next woman who was cloned on the team was given an offer by my father, have his child and he will buy both of them their freedom.”

“Could he really guarantee that many points?” Josh questioned

“My father had mastered the fourth stage at this point” Sky explained “anyone who reaches that point will find that God can no longer create significant threats and can spend their time hunting for bonus missions”

“So the Demon is truly staying here by choice” Lance said

“Still needs to revive a few team members” Skye confirmed “the last my father told me anyway. Back to what i was saying, my mother naturally accepted and they began a period of point hunting. My father trusted God’s judgement would only bring exceptional candidates for a mother but he wanted to make sure she was well enhanced from God before I was conceived. When he deemed her ready and she was confirmed pregnant they returned to our world. I was born 8 months later”

“So you spent your whole life training to kill probably the strongest man in existence?” Josh asked

“Ever since I could talk” Skye said

“And you want us to join you on your mission” Lance concluded

“I will be honest with you,” Skye promised. “I do believe I will one day reach the Devil’s level of power on my own. However I would prefer to end him as soon as possible and that is best done with a team supporting me.”

“I have to say something” Elijah interrupted “I’m still new here but it seems to me this is all completely irrelevant to the movie we are in. Could we focus on that instead?”

“I agree” Josh said hesitantly “If Skye is willing to work with us in this movie I don't see why we couldn't discuss this further in the Lobby.”

“I don’t like the idea of us chasing the biggest threat possible” Logan claimed.

“Like Skye said earlier not even you are a tenth of the way to reaching that level of power” Lance pointed out “Having a long term goal for the team might not be a bad thing”

“I would also like to say” Skye announced “Regardless of if you agree to help me fight the Demon I would still like to work with the group. If the opportunity comes and my only option is to take him on alone, I will”

“As long as you act like a team mate I won’t have a problem with you” Logan decided “But we do have more to talk about later”

“Yes much to talk about” Lance agreed “For now let's talk about our current status. We are in the beginning of the movie, the day after the first murders. If the plot hasn’t changed yet Sydney will be attacked tonight. I doubt God would have made her a part of our mission without guaranteeing she will die without our protection. So our next moves will be to get some people over there to defend against an ambush”

“If we are dealing with high school kids this may let us get rid of a killer early on” Logan said “but it can’t be that simple”

“I agree” Lance said “God had to have changed something to put Sydney in danger and the most likely candidates are the killers. As soon as we’re done here I think a team should head to Sydney’s house immediately.”

“Who all should go?” Josh asked

“Logan and Elijah are my top choices” Lance answered “Logan can handle almost anything the movie could hold and give us an idea of what level of danger we’re dealing with. Elijah’s psyche scan will be perfect to watch the house. Tell everyone your range”

Elijah didn't look interested in talking but he spoke quickly “Just over a mile radius I can see a clear image of what’s happening. I can expand that range to twelve miles but I will be limited to only sensing where a person is. I could also go even farther by only going in one direction but I don’t see why I would want to waste my time doing that”

“Thank you” Lance said “Of course that means Brutus will be coming with them and I would like Eve to join as well for extra protection.”

“I would like Skye to come with us” Logan declared

“I think that is a good idea” Lance said before turning to Skye “Would you be willing to do that?”

“You didn't ask anyone else if they were ok with going” she answered in mock offense “expect me to be just like any other member. I’ll go where I’m told”

“Excellent,” Lance said.

“Matt and Crystal I want you two to stay and watch the newbies” Logan requested

“Josh and I will head into town” Lance explained “we will buy a car and head over to Sydney’s house to act as reinforcements”

“What about the newbies?” Crystal asked “anything we should prep them for?

“Should we bring any?” Skye wondered

“I wouldn’t mind bringing one with us” Lance offered “for you guys if you want to take anyone take Louie. She can use the sniper rifle we have in storage, it might not be a hunting rifle but I’m sure she can make it work”

“I think we’ve said everything we need to today” Logan stated, moving to the doorway “Everyone coming with me, get ready to go. We leave in five minutes”

Logan opened the door and headed to his room. Skye and Eve also left for their rooms. Elijah remained as they held their meeting in his room.

“I assume you will want to stay and talk until I leave,” Elijah said dryly.

“We do” Lance said distractedly “Thanks”

“Whatever” Elijah grumbled and made his way to his bag. He began to pull out various supplies and sort them.

“What a way to start a movie” Matt said with a sigh.

“She seems nice at least” Josh offered

“She does,” Lance said, his posture straitened and he pulled everyone’s attention, “Logan and I spoke. For now everyone will treat Skye like any other teammate. We can’t prove if she is telling the truth in this movie but we want to keep her feeling confident with the team in order to keep a close eye on her. As long as she appears to be happily cooperating with us we will keep using her as best we can.”

“Do you think she’s being honest?” Josh asked

“Everything I’m seeing suggests honesty” Lance admitted “but we really have no idea what she is capable of. For now let's just focus on the movie, we’ll head out after Logan’s team leaves”

“Logan is taking Louie” Elijah commented “I just told her to head over here”

“Could this mission be too dangerous for a newbie?” Crystal asked

“I am confident the threats they will face will come from the original killers of the movie” Lance said “A shot from a rifle should be enough to seriously damage them. If Skye or Logan can restrain an enemy for even a moment Louie could prove vital in this movie”

A knock at the door ended the conversation, after a quick call Louie entered the room.

“Um so some voice came in my head and told me to come here” Louie said carefully “does that sound normal to you?”

Josh smiled “Yes that was Elijah. You’ll get used to it after some practice, he will be going with the group with you to Sydney’s house”

“oh good” Louie said, sounding relieved “my aunt started hearing voices one day and my dad had her sent to some hospital”

“We have a rifle for you” Lance interrupted “we’re hoping you will help us with your hunting skills tonight. We believe you could prove invaluable at taking out any threats we find”

“You sure I won’t have any consequences for killing anyone here?” Louie asked

“Aside from the penalty set by God” Lance said “we won’t have to worry about any consequences from their deaths”

“Then I'm in,” Louie decided instantly.

“Though try to keep some discretion” Lance warned “we already know police will be around, we don't need them giving us extra trouble”

“Eve got the car” Elijah announced without warning

“Excellent” Lance responded immediately “You should be ready to head out”

“What car?” Josh asked “we never discussed a car”

“I had Elijah direct her while we were talking with Skye” Lance explained “I had Eve go to the motel owner and offer to buy their car with some of the cash we brought. Enough to cover the cab ride to the car shop”

“Why were you guys talking with Skye?” Louie asked “wasn’t it just a veterans meeting?”

“Skye is working on a new technique” Lance said quickly “she is a perfectionist though so she won’t show us till she feels its perfect”

Lance took a couple steps to look out the window before continuing “If you happen to see her in combat, let me know if she does anything that shouldn’t be humanly possible”

“What's in it for me?” Louie said bluntly

“I’ll help you get your choice of rifle in the lobby” Lance offered

“Deal” Louie agreed “is our ride ready?”

“I believe so,” Lance said before noticing a large freight truck pulling into the parking lot.

The rest of the team moved to get a better view as the truck was parked by the motel office. Blocking in an old red car in a reserved spot. A muffled voice could just be made out through the window as the truck driver asked for permission to park there from the owner. The unseen owner must have approved as the driver then turned off the truck and jumped to the ground.

“I’m guessing that's the car” Elijah said

A shout from outside cut off any reply, Skye ran past the window in pursuit of the driver.

“Should we stop her?” Josh asked

“Let's get a closer look at least,” Lance decided as the teen disappeared behind the truck. The group moved quickly, following Lance they circled around the trailer the truck carried and watched from the distance. Skye could be heard telling the driver he needed to move the truck. The truck driver seemed offended to be yelled at and was refusing to do so.

“Fine!” Skye shouted with finality “I’ll move it without you”

The teen shoved past the driver and once again disappeared behind the truck. The driver let out a confused shout before a groan sounded from the truck. In front of everyone the athletic teen was lifting the truck by its front end and moving it to the side. Tires groaned as the truck’s front was pulled to the side, leaving the truck crooked. Skye then set the truck down and walked around to the back. With only a nod as acknowledgement, the teen passed the group and repeated the act with the back of the trailer. This left the old red car easy access out of the parking lot.

“Looks like we’re ready to go” Eve said, coming up with keys in her hand.

“I’m ready to go when you guys are,” Skye said with a cheerful smile, her face wasn't even red after the exertion.

Logan walked up as well and handed a bag to Skye. He had a curious look on his face but didn’t speak. With little fanfare the team packed into the car and departed. Josh, Lance, Crystal, and Matt ended up together in the parking lot.

“What are you thinking?” Josh asked Lance. The young strategist had been quiet since the team had seen Skye move the truck.

Lance answered in a distracted tone “I think our team rating is going to jump again”
