《My Hermit Life》Chapter 61

It took Solomon three years, eight months, and twelve days exactly to catch up with the main body of Loretta's army. It took so long not because Solomon was slow or Loretta and her army were fast, but a mix of all three. First, there was a very large distance between the army and Solomon, and then the army and and Solomon traveled at a very similar speed, with Solomon traveling only slightly faster. Solomon could have traveled a lot faster, he did originally, but Solomon felt he was close to advancing in his Dao of Tree Life. So he decided to take his time and travel just barely fast enough. Sadly though, his slow speed didn't bare any fruits.
Solomon was in the midst of self pity when the side of the car he was driving was smashed. The car flipped like a kid rolling down the side of a hill on their side. Solomon jumped out of the car like he was in some action movie during the third flip, after he landed the car continued on for about twenty more consecutive flips. The way Solomon landed was less like an action movie scene and more like a cringey shounen anime. ( I haven't watched anime in like five years so I don't know if shounen is correct. ) Solomon landed straight up, stock still like a stake.
After the dust that Solomon purposefully stirred up, to add to the effect, settled Solomon looked around while holding his Bo( staff ) in one hand and a wood axe in the other. He looked quite badass with his pure white frock and shining purple and golden hair. Surrounding Solomon were a dozen or so undead including four zombie knights, four skeleton knights, and then four undead that Loretta personally evolved. They looked like living beings which meant they were likely a mix of a zombie skin and skeleton. Though Solomon couldn't tell what the individual parts were made up of, only that they weren't made up of any common races. Solomon decided to talk to the zombie that kicked his car.
" Yo bro that wasn't cool. Like do ya know how much that car costed, more than your entire life. "

" What?! "
" Nothing, just some douchey thing I've always wanted to say, figured I'd entertain you a little before I kick your ass. "
The knight didn't say anything to Solomon but instead he turned towards his brethren and arrogantly spoke out.
" Step away guys, I'll take care of this bastard personally. "
""""""""""" Hahaha/ Get 'im Zander? """""""""""""
The knight's friends spoke a mix/ laughed a mix of similar words. They also stepped backwards and to the side to create a circular boundary around Solomon and the knight, Zander.
Solomon just got into a battle stance, he also put away his axe since it was mainly for cutting wood. Solomon didn't actually put any formation on the axe, instead he would imbue it with absurd amounts of Mana to try and form runes. Though he would need a little more time for anything to actually become clear, though if one observed closely they could just barely see a little something something.
The knight drew his battle axe that had a form completely different compared to Solomon's wood axe. It actually had a form similar to a halberd with a long metal handle and and a long thin axe head. Solomon posted himself up in a stance that almost looked like a reformed boxing stance made for fighting with a Bo ( staff ).
The knight moved in once he saw Solomon's defensive stance. Zander lead with an overhead smash which Solomon countered with a quick jab to his chest. When Zander was thrown off balance Solomon went in with a few more quick jabs to the chest and throat hoping to knock Zander to the ground. It would have been nice if such a hopeful move paid off but it seemed Zander had faked Solomon out, he wasn't actually off balance. When Solomon went for his jabs Zander turned his chest sideways while moving in close on Solomon. Once he was close Zander punched out towards Solomon's stomach. What he didn't know was that Solomon was pretty good in many forms of boxing. Solomon knocked Zander's punch off trajectory and put his staff away all within a second. He then threw a few quick jabs into Zander's sides.

The two kept going back and forth with Solomon having the advantage thanks to his high physical stats, he wasn't using much of his magic. Though he would use his Bass Magic to pack a much more damaging punch. After about ten minutes Solomon got a lucky cross in on Zander's jaw which knocked him out cold. Right when the other knights were about to attack Solomon they all heard clapping, when they looked over they saw a certain grey skinned, horse bodied beauty. Solomon instantly jumped towards her to give her a hug.
Loretta threw up a barrier before Solomon reached her, she didn't want her soldiers to see an embarrassing moment. She wanted her soldiers to see her not as a loving wife, but as a ruthless queen who would always punish her enemies and reward her allies. She did maintain such an image and she was loved and respected by her soldiers, it helped that most of them were mindless skeletons and zombies.
Inside the barrier
Solomon was giving Loretta a kiss similar to a soldier who hadn't see his wife in years. To ruin the romantic moment he was also fondling her shoulder boulders like a prisoner who hadn't seen a woman in years. The two kissed while communicating telepathically using their wedding rings. They talked about a multitude of things. ( I can't write romantic moments, sorry. )
Outside of barrier
It took Solomon and Loretta almost an hour to get out of the barrier, they were to caught up in actually meeting personally and not in the barrier world. When they exited they were greeted by dozens of spears aimed at Solomon.
" SETTLE DOWN! At ease soldiers, you are pointing your weapons at my husband. "
Loretta instantly quelled the soldiers by yelling out with a booming voice one would expect from the leader of an army. The well trained soldiers had their weapons down before she was done yelling, clearly they were very disciplined. Once that fiasco was over Loretta lead Solomon to her mobile base that was like a massive land carrier and was pulled by her massive undead horse. The base was truly majestic. When Solomon saw the massive horse his reaction made Loretta truly satisfied.
" OOOOHHHHH MMMMYYYYY GGGOOOODDDDD! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT! IS THAT A FUCKING HORSE?! Babe, where the hell did you find that thing? "
" HEHEHE. "
When they reached the base Solomon climbed all over the horse pocking and prodding it. He realized the horse didn't have an actual heart beat and instead had an artificial blood flow. Though it couldn't truly replace a heart it did its job pretty well.
After about ten minutes Solomon settled down and Loretta decided to lead him to her hangar full of giant creatures. When he saw them Solomon first started breathing hard, then he started to sweat, and finally he passed out. Of course he didn't actually faint but he faked it to entertain his wife.
" So how do you like my surprise Solomon? "
" I love it babe! I'm surprised you remembered my idea of giant undead monsters being used in war. "
" Hard to forget when you would talk about it a few times a month for a hundred thousand years. "
" I just can't wait to build you some suits of armor for these beauties and make massive semi-mechas. "
Solomon despite never liking the mecha genre in anime, manga, or novels found a likeness for them after reincarnating into a world where they could exist. When he originally thought of building mechas Solomon started making up plans to build them, but after a solid hundred thousand years of planning he couldn't actually think of a way to make them. So he instead planned a way to make the closest thing possible, which was covering giant creatures in metal armor.
Since Solomon had his massive creatures all he needed to do was build the armor, which he got to after some " alone time " with his wife.

“One in a billion.” Jack kept repeating the mantra in his head. “One in a billion.” That was the number the Omni-Corps liked to cite whenever someone stepped onto one trans-mat pad and then simply… never stepped off the other. “Safer than a car,” he repeated as he slogged through the snow, his mining overalls doing at least a passable job of keeping out the cold as he brushed aside a tree branch. “Safer than a plane. Or a starship. Safest form of transport in the Star League.” He slammed his fist into a nearby tree, exo-empowered strength shattering it into little more than scattered bark and kindling. “Yeah, well I never heard of a car ride stranding some prick in another dimension!” He roared, his voice echoing through the seemingly endless forest around him. Then he kept marching. He’d seen the fire off in the distance. And given all the snow around, he sincerely doubted it was natural. Which left the unnatural. Which meant people. He hoped. Because even if the trans-mat had screwed up, he doubted it had dumped him too far off the central finite curve. The fact that the air was breathable and that he could recognize the trees around him as oak told him that much. And if the dimension he was in had trees native to Earth, chances are it would have animals too. Of which humans would hopefully be no exception. “Because I’ll be damned if I spend the rest of my days talking to goddamn squirrels.” No, if there were humans on this mudball, he was going to find them. One way or another.

It is better to die knowing. Listen. The world as you know it is not as you know it. It is a construction, a facade, a mural painted over the world to hide the fact that it is very broken on some fundamental levels. That there exists an entire spiritual realm, one of cognition and perception and memory and that it teems with awful life. The world was not made for us. Jacob Irwing is a fairly normal 26 year old American man. He's an amateur photographer, unmarried and does not work in his chosen field. He is also dying, right now, in the first chapter of this story. Someone has put a bullet in him. Agent Z is a fairly abnormal woman of no nationality. Her age is classified. Her name is classified. Her background? You better believe it's classified. She works for the people who hide the truth. She is going to wake up with a hole in her head in the first chapter of this story, surrounded by corpses and also by a dying fairly normal 26 year old American man. Burned and seemingly abandoned by the Agency, Agent Z has lost her memory, her security clearance and her authorisation. All that she's gained is Jacob, who is thoroughly in this shit now. Together they must work to uncover the truth, if any such thing even exists, in this erratic urban fantasy weird-fic. Updates every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Australian time.

Author's note:This is an old version that has been completely dropped in favor of a new and better version. I have learned a lot from written this instance, but I believe the work has been subpar and I can do much better with the story and the premise I have devised. I will be posting the new version on a different page.
