《Savior University》Chapter 3: "Entrance Exam"

"AIR BLAST!"
"AKIO!", Kana screamed with shock.
"DAMMIT!"
*PHHHHHSSSSHHHHWWW BAM!*
A large wave of wind suddenly exited the room.
Kana held both of her arms forward posed like an X before her. She was trying to keep herself from being blowed away from the large amount of wind that was leaving the room.
"Damn, that Akio. Trying to involve my darling on this. If he gets hurt, he's not getting away from it."
"Heh."
Kana's eyes widen as she hears Akio's voice.
'Did he-
...
no-'
"I knew you'd pull it off, bro."
Akio's uniform was ripped apart and he had bruises everywhere. He was trembling on his knees with his left arm forward.
"Aunt Kana, we did it-"
Akio suddenly passed out.
"Did he...?"
The wind and dust started clearing up and it finally showed Akira.
His arms had glowing green branch lines on them.
A green lined slightly transparent semi-rectangular shield was in front of him, and his wounds were slowly faiding with a green light flowing from them.
"Thi-this is..."
Kana stared at Takehito, and then at Akira.
'W-WHAT JUST HAPPENED? WHAT IS-'
"Thank god, I wouldn't know what I'd do if I find out my darling was hurt.", Kana sighed with relief.
"...This is...?"
"That's your ability, that's what saved all the people in the train the other day, except back then, it was much much bigger."
Akira was in shock, right now, a weird hologram-like long rectangle was formed connecting to his forearms. This was what protected them against Akio's attack.
"Basically, when you saw Akio charging his Air Blast, you suddenly decided to rush in in front of Takehito, to protect my darling... but at the last moment, you're desire to 'protect' manifested your abillity in you, creating a small rectangular barrier, but big enough to protect you both from the blast. When Akio, released his Air Blast, your shield interfered the pressure, pushing all the air back to it's user, Akio. This led to him being shot up at the ceiling with a strong force, then crashing him down on the floor."
Hearing this, Akira couldn't help but worry.
"...Is he alright?"
"...hmmm..?", Kana looked at Akira with an amused expression.
"Should you really be worrying about him when he tried to kill you earlier?"
"That doesn't matter...
...
Akio did that for a reason, am I right?"
"Well...
...yes, he did.", Kana answered truthfully.
"I think it's about time I tell you the whole truth about the situation."
Kana walked up to Akio and shook him.
"Wake up, hey. You've taken much harder hits than that."
"...uhhhh...
...yeah, yeah. I'm up."
Akira pull himself into a squatting position and stared at Kana and Akio.
Kana walked up to Akira and looked at him seriously with her golden eyes.
"I am Kana Asami, the principal of a secret university that trains superhumans like Akio, and you to become great heroes."
"Wait...you mean-"
"Akira Ishikawa, yesterday, when the delinquents hijacked the train, more than thousand of people's lives were risked and if weren't for you, they would have all been dead."
"Me...? Wait, more than thousands... that can't be right?"
A train can usually carry hundreds of people, and if you stretch it out, the most it can house is a thousand people, so Akira believed that what she was saying was absurd.
"No, you saved more than thousands of lives that night... The truth is, what most people didn't know that day was that...
There was a bomb inside the train."
"...what?"
"We discovered it after the incident, no one noticed it, because it didn't make a sound, but when you used your barrier, it somehow caused the bomb to malfunction, preventing it to explode. And if it had exploded, the people living near the rails, would've died as well. This was the reason why no one could call the authorities in the situation."
Akira was shocked but was also happy about finding out he had saved lots of people's lives...but after a moment, he again, showed a serious expression.
"It was all my fault that the situation took place, I apologize."
"It doesn't matter now, since in the end no one was hurt."
'...huh?'
"Wait... What do you mean no one was hurt? I saw a few people die in front of me yesterday, what happened to-"
"Look at your torso, Akira."
Akira turned his head down and stared at his chest.
"What the!?... My wounds...!?"
A green glow shined throughout his slowly fading wounds.
"You had another ability with you...
...the ability to 'heal'. With that ability, you made all those wounded victims during that day recover from their wounds. If it weren't for that, most of them would have been dead already."
Akira was puzzled at first, but now, he's quite relieved and all the stress that built up on him was starting to die down.
"If you were the principal of a university that trains heroes then, why did you make Akio come after me?"
Kana turned her head towards Akio who was standing straight even though he was bruised all over.
"Well, the truth is...
You didn't really have a good reputation as it is, Akira."
This didn't really shock Akira, since he knew he always had a bad reputation, being known as a delinquent and all.
"When the incident occurred, our underground hero agency, wanted to dispatch someone who could fight the delinquents, save the passengers, and defuse the bomb without any unnecessary casualties... Akio wasn't really someone who could deal with that situation, since his ability would probably affect those around him as well...We needed someone to face the delinquents without hurting the innocent passengers.", Kana explained with a serious expression.
"To do that, they had to make sure that whoever hero we dispatch they have to also prevent the bomb from exploding in time... but before we could think of a strategy to get by...
The delinquents already started killing all the passengers inside, without hesitation.", Kana added.
Akira suddenly remembered the face of the man who fell next to him and begged for help.
'Usually, in situations like those, the criminal would hesitate killing and would only take a hostage to ask for money or something... but those scum back there... they were...'
["so we just thought you know, fuck it. We're just gonna kill some people and have fun doing it, how about that?"]
"They didn't ask for money, or anything expensive. The reason they hijacked the train, was just because...", Kana then curled her eyebrows down and looked as if she was irritated.
"...they simply wanted to kill...", Akio, who was still wounded, stood up while slightly trembling.
Akira seeing this, walked up to him.
...
"What? Want to punch me back for doing all that?", said Akio provoking Akira.
*BAM!*
Suddenly, Akira's fist hit Akio.
"Didn't expect that, huh?", said Akira with a mocking tone.
"Heh, I forgot how unpredictable you are... bro.", replied Akio, who was smiling even though he was just hit, after a moment, he finally passed out again.

'So, if I remember clearly'
Akira then closed in the exhausted and wounded Akio, he then put his hands above his torso and closed his eyes.
'It sort of felt like this...'
Akira focused all his energy to his palms and suddenly...
a green light flashed on Akio's wounds.
"Hmmm...hmmm...", curiously but gleefully hummed Kana.
'So this is my ability...'
Akio's wounds started to fade slowly and his bruises started to light up, but after a few seconds, it suddenly stopped.
'Huh?...What?'
"You still haven't mastered using it yet.", commented Kana.
"While you do have the ability to heal, if you still haven't adjusted yourself on how you use that ability, it still won't completely work most of the time.", added Kana.
Akira kept his eyes on Akio's wounds and didn't turn back to Kana who was explaining the situation.
'My ability, huh?...
My own superpower.'
"That ability of yours, was just suddenly manifested during the train incident. The adrenaline inside you rushed towards a focal point in your body and immediately caused you to shower everyone around you with that ability...
To the point where you made even the delinquents recover from their injuries..."
Akira's eyes widened with this statement, hearing about this, made him worry that those delinquents might come after them again.
"Rewrite.", Kana randomly stated.
"...what?", Akira asked her with a confused tone.
"That is the name of my ability.", Kana then explained.
"The power to rewrite someone's past and experience... or to put it in simpler terms...
'The ability to brainwash someone', that is my ability.", Kana continued.
"Is that the reason why everyone forgot about the incident?", asked Akira.
Kana smiled then answered him:
"We superhumans are people who have, somehow, been blessed by extraordinary organs that could make these 'energies' flow inside of us. Akio's ability, 'Wind Caller', uses his hands to take control of the energy around him, making wind gather around wherever he placed his hands on.", explained Kana.
"My ability, 'Rewrite', uses the energy stored within my eyes, to showcase a person's memories and the ability to tamper with them. I used this ability, to delete the so-called 'train incident' in every single passenger' and witnesses' mind from the scene.", added Kana.
"So that's why uncle Takehito had no recollection of what happened...", commented Akira.
"Some people from outside the superhuman ground, might think some of are just 'freaks' by nature, some of them might think it's 'unfair' how we are the chosen ones, and some might think about how they're probably gonna be helpless in the hands of us 'superhumans'."
Kana then walked up to Akira and continued.
"You, Akira Ishikawa, was blessed with a powerful ability, but because of your reckless actions, the delinquents, led by an unknown force, were able to figure out your location, and lots of people were almost hurt because of your actions..
We had to learn whether or not you used your ability to 'protect' people, if it was just for your own selfish desire-"
"You would have rewritten my memories, didn't you?", remarked Akira.
Kana, then nodded her head to confirm his statement.
"So after the incident, you used your ability, carried me to the hospital, and acted like everything never happened?", asked Akira.
"That's true... but there's another reason why we made it look like nothing happened to you.", mentioned Kana.
"Why is that?", Akira again looked at Kana with confusion.
"Have you ever tried blowing up fireworks?", asked Kana.
"Huh?...", wondered Akira.
"I did, when I was a child... what for?", continued Akira.
"Imagine your ability as fireworks, lighting it up by your desires, it could fire up and blow into a million pieces looking beautiful at the sky...
but once it dies down, it can never be used a second time..."
"If that were the case you need to rewrite my memories even if my real desire was to 'protect', right?"
"That is correct.", answered Kana.
"...but what if my ability was like that? Wouldn't uncle Takehito be hurt? Why did you let Akio...?"
"Akio... believed in you... Akira."
Akira then stared at the tired Akio.
"We wanted to create a situation where you would be forced to use your power, and knowing that your brothers, we didn't want to let you fight each other...but Akio insisted..."
[In an office type setting, Kana sat on an expensive looking chair, with an expensive looking desk and a long board that has 'Principal' written on it.
The sun was already setting on the windows when a scene played in this area.
In front of Kana, stood Akio, who was wearing his uniform.
She had wide eyes as Akio who stared at her with all seriousness said:
"I believe in bro, I beg of you...
please...
...let me be the one to test him."]
"Surely enough... if it were someone else who tested you, we would have given up half-way...
Throughout the fight, you kept running away, and even if your injuries were getting more and more tragic, you kept running.
...but Akio, tested you to the very limits..."
Akira remembered Akio's words from the hospital room.
[" let me make things clear, bro. It's not your fault this happened, and I'm being serious when I tell you, I can handle it myself."]
'Did he plan to avenge me back then?'
"You didn't know how happy he was to find out that his best friend and brother at the same time, can finally achieve his lifelong dream... and when he realized I accused you of just being a 'one-time hero', he got angry at me."
Akira then stood up while keeping his eyes on his brother. After a while he smiled, and showed a confident expression.
'Seems like you had to help your stupid older brother anyways.'
"At the very end of the fight, when you still can't do anything... your brother kept that shed of hope on you, and prepared to fire all he had to Takehito, knowing you would probably do something to prevent it...
The whole fight...
He did nothing but believe in you..."
Akira stared at his right hand that was glowing with a green light...
"And that is why...
from today on, Akira Ishikawa..."
Hearing her words, Akira...turned his back towards Akio and faced Kana.
"Will now be working hard to train before the entrance exams of the Savior University start."
...
Akira's serious expression suddenly turned into a stupefied one.
"WHAT?"
"Well, of course we can't just admit you in right? For now you should learn to control that ability of yours before you start doing anything else."
"...but isn't that supposed to be a university where they teach me how to control my ability?"
"Abilities are usually manifested during a younger age, just like Akio around here, who got his ability when he was just 10 years old."
'That was about the time when he transferred to a school in the city.'
"Wait...don't tell me you did that test with Akio too, even though he's still just a ten year old."
"No, we didn't. Unlike you, when Akio figured out his ability, he stopped being reckless and started to save people without them recognizing it was him."
[Suddenly, a strong gust of wind was heard behind Akira.
"Now!", Akira screamed.
As Akio charged like a jet with tornado on the ends of his shoes, Akira suddenly turned sideways and let Akio pass in front of him.]
'With the speed of his, there's no joking that anyone who would try fighting him wouldn't recognize him.'
"You're just an entirely random teenager who started to use his ability only one day ago, if you still don't have control over it, you'd might be mistaken as a villain.", commented Kana.
"What? ...my ability's this barrier thing, and recovery, right? Why would I be mistaken as a villain?", asked Akira.
"You're barrier is pretty solid as it is, if you accidentally called it in front of a random person-"
Suddenly, Akira imagined a stickman figure of a man in his head with him in front of it.
"You might just slice them in half.", Kana continued.
The stickman was suddenly sliced in Akira's head much to Akira's agony.
"Th-then...what should I do...?"
"During these next 12 months... you Akira Ishikawa...
will be trained by Akio Ishikawa into a somewhat non-amateur super human!"
Akira again, showed her a stupefied expression.
"WHHHHHAAAAATTTT?????"
The passed out Akio, finally woke up and picked himself back to his feet.
"We'll be very busy the next few months, brother..."
"DAMMMIIIITTTTT!"
'It was hard for me to accept that Akio, my little brother, was the one who had to train me to be able to use my ability, but to me, all that matters now, is that I can finally become a hero!
That is if I become able to control my ability.'

"WIND JET!"
"GWAAAAHHHHH!!", Akira screamed as he was pounced by Akio.
"Come on, bro. You should really use your barrier right now.", advise Akio.
"Okay, time out, time out! Let me rest for a bit..."
"We shouldn't waste any time now, if you don't start now, you might not be able to manifest your ability during the entrance exams you know.", reminded Akio.
"Wait, wait... Before we continue, where the hell are we anyways?", asked Akio.
Akio and Akira were settled in a plain desert field without a trace of water in sight.
The whole land was filled with nothing but sand.
"This is the 'simulator', one of the training halls, in our town. Professionals usually use places like these to simulate rescue missions... Heroes usually gather here once a tragic event happens or is about to happen.", explained Akio.
"Okay, okay. I get that. Then why the hell did you simulate a desert area in the first place?", asked Akira.
"It's simple."
Akio suddenly gathered wind on his hand and made it swirl, forming a huge x like wind shuriken.
"In this place...
there's nowhere you can run or hide on...", answered Akio with a devilish grin.
"Hey, how about we take it easy, can't we? I just got my ability after all."
"No can do, BRO.", said Akio as he charged in to strike Akira.
"AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"
"Seems like that Akio is having the time of his life.", playfully stated Kana.
Only Akira's screams were heard that day.

12 months pass.
...
A black haired teenager, wearing a dark red tracksuit, with a shoulder strap bag was on the front of a doorway tying his shoelaces.
"You ready?"
"...
...Never been better."
Akira then left the house.
His body being more built, his eyes looking more confident, all in all, he...
had been greatly preparing for this very day.
Today is the day when he finally gets to start walking towards his dream.
To be a hero- that's what he really wants to become.
And now, he's not gonna let anyone stop him from facing his dream.
____________________________________
"This should be it.", said Akira as he stood before a large seeminly, abandoned building.
Suddenly, a scene in his house flashed in his mind.
[Akio and Akira were sitting on the dining table eating, when Akio suddenly decides to tell him something.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you."
"What is it?", asked Akira.
"The school, being known as a secret university, can't be seen by normal people, so unless you're a superhuman, you'd just be entering an abandoned rundown place rumored to be haunted school.", Akio with his index finger pointed up explained.
"To be able to enter the school, you need to..."]
Akira ran head first to the abandoned school's entrance and-
'Run against the school entrance and-.'
With a sudden flash, Akira's body shone with a green light, and seemingly, he passed through was seemed to be a portal.
'make your energy visible.'
The sight before him earlier, which was an abandoned rundown school, was now...
A school full of sparkling entrance examiners.
Everyone glowed of a different colored light. Some glowed a dark color, some glowed a beautiful red color, some glowed sparkling blue, some glowed gold, basically everyone was glowing a unique color.
'This must be the...
Savior University.'
Akira Ishikawa.

S Entrance Exam
Akira stared at the piece of paper given to him by Kana.
["The entrance exams don't really have too many rules in them... but there are a few considerable ones.
First of all, you are not allowed to fight other examinees before the exams.
Secondly, you are not allowed to bring tools other than your clothes and your ability.
And lastly, I don't want to tell you much about the exam, since that would be unfair to some of the students who had no one there to advise them...
...but let me give you a bit of advice.
That piece of paper you're holding right now, is a ticket for the entrance exams.
If you lose that piece of paper, you fail.", Akio said putting down his chopsticks.]
'If they allowed fighting before the exams...
This place would've been a battlefield.', Akira thought.
"Hey, you."
"Huh?"
Akira looked around to see who was calling him, but saw nothing...
'Must've been my imagination.'
"I'M OVER HERE."
Suddenly, in front of Akira, showed up a small boy who was about half his height. He had a blond bowl cut, large round glasses, a lanky body, and clothes that looked like he came from some prestigious university.
"Uh... hey, sup?", asked Akira.
"You seem like a pretty intimidating guy, how about we team up?", suggested the small boy.
"What!? Why?"
"Are you really an uneducated mongrel or what?"
'Mongrel? This little-'
"You do know what's about to happen in the exams, right?"
Akira had the first idea of what's about to go on...
From what Akio had said, he thought it was obvious that the exam's gonna be about...
....a free-for-all battle.
The papers they kept, also known as the tickets, were said to keep them in the exam.
So once enough people lose their tickets, the few people left who still have their tickets...
...will be admitted as students of the university.
'I've trained for so long. I took all of Akio's hits. Using my barrier skill, I'm gonna try and keep this paper tucked on me.'
"I understand what you mean.", Akio with a look that seems like he's all up for the truce answered.
The small boy suddenly grinned, pulled out his admission ticket and pointed it to Akira.
"So what about we trade admission tickets now to prove our-?"
Suddenly, a student with pink hair wearing a pink hat and a pink heart symbol on the bottom of her eye, with a body with large curves in the right places, wearing an expensive looking uniform from another school , and a pink cardigan above it suddenly appeared crouched behind the small boy and tapped the first zipper of his two strap bag.
"Are you sure you want to do that?", the girl with a playful expression in her face asked.
"Tch-", the boy suddenly turned around and ran leaving the 'admission ticket' he pointed to Akira behind.
"What happened? What did you do?", asked Akira to the girl who was crouching down.
The girl suddenly stood up to reveal her beautiful face and pointed the admission ticket that the other boy left behind to Akira.
"This is a fake admission ticket.", the girl claimed while holding the admission ticket to Akira.
Akira then took a look at the ticket.

SV Entrance Exam
"It says there that it's for an SV entrance exam right? All of us are trying to enter the S one not the SV, so it's obviously fake. He was trying to get you out of the competition by tricking you to hand over your admission ticket to him.", explained the girl while pointing her finger up and smiling.
"I wasn't planning to give him my admission ticket in the first place, and how'd you notice that small detail easily?", asked Akira.
"Heh...", said the girl whike keeping her big devious smile.
"I'm Megumi Sasaki, and with my ability, I'm able to sharpen my senses.", introduced Megumi.
"There's more to it than just that, isn't there? You wouldn't have been able to sneak up on us like that.", asked Akira who showed a curious expression.
"Sure, I'll tell you...", answered Megumi with a teasing expression.
She then pointed her right hand's index finger at Akira and told him...
"If you pass the exam that is...."
Akira's eyes kept it's seriousness and even though, he basically heard her issue a challenge to him in front of him, he didn't faze at all...
He walked to step towards her index finger, grabbed it with his hand...
and answered her with a confident expression:
"Deal."
The girl suddenly showed a flustered expression and blushed a bit, but immediately turned around and told him:
"I'll be looking forward to seeing you in class."
The girl then ran towards the entrance.
'I forgot that not only me, but lots of other people have the same dream as me as well...'
Akira smiled and took his first steps towards the university entrance.
'Here I come.'

"WHAT THE HELL!!???"
"Be quiet in the exam room please."
A random examinee screamed out of shock, so a normal old teacher that was wearing a business suit, was balding on the front and back and had reading glasses reprimanded him.
It's not like he screamed for no reason, the other students were also shocked to see what was in front of them.
It was a piece of paper, a questionnaire that also seemed like an entrance exam for a normal university.
"...but sir.... this is Savior University, right? Are you really sure the entrance exams should just be like this?", asked a dark-skinned male student with dreadlocks.
"Yeah, sir... We should have had a more flashy entrance exams like those in anime, right?", asked a plain looking male from the audience.
"I trained so hard just for this day, and all it was was a written exam?", a dark skinned beauty who was resting her head on her arms that was rested on the papers that rested on her desk asked with a disappointing tone.
"Be quiet, everyone.", the old teacher who had a very low voice commanded.
"I kept using my ability on my father until he passed out and it turns out our entrance exam is just a questionnaire?", a sobbing long haired man that had bangs so long it hid his eyes questioned them as well.
Akira wrote on the paper then started listening to the other students again.
'Well, this is better than having to work my ass off, right? Might as well...'
"BE QUUUUUUIIIIIIIEEEEETTTT!!!!", suddenly the old lanky man from earlier's screams resounded everyone's heads forcing everyone to try and cover their ears.
'''''''''''TELEPATHY!'''''''''''
"Wait, then isn't he...?"
"No way... he's-"
"""""""""""""""The psychic support, Mind Whisperer!"""""""""""""""
'...
...What?'
"I heard so much about you! You're so cool!"
"I can't believe it! Can we have your autograph?"
"No way!"
"...Who?", Akira said with a confused expression on his face.
"What? You haven't heard of mind whisperer, you really are an illiterate moron.", the little boy who had glasses on who tried to fool Akira earlier, who also sat beside him, asked.
Akira turned his head over beside him and saw him sitting there.
"You? Why the hell are you here?", Akira intimidatingly asked.
"I'm an examinee too, of course I would be here. Us having seated together was just a coincidence. I have no interest on you, nor your ability whatsoever.", replied the little boy.
"Well whatever, who's that Mind Whisperer guy anyway?", Akira asked again.
"You must be one of those inbred heroes who didn't know anything about the hero world until recently, aren't you...?", asked the little boy.
"...Uh...yeah...", answered Akira with a low voice, and a defeated look.
"Mind whisperer is known as the leader of one of the most known rescue teams, Safe Haven! With his ability to read the mind of everyone who breathes and his ability to send messages directly to their brains, he's known to be one of the best rescue team member in the whole world!", bragged the little boy while folding his left arm and putting his right arm on the bottom of his glasses.
Suddenly, the boy noticed that Akira was staring at his test paper while he was explaining, which irritated him.
"You! You're cheating! I'll tell on-"
"I'm done already."
"Huh?", the little boy wondered.
"I've finished answering the exam a while ago."
"Huh? That was quick, don't tell me you used your ability."
"Nope, I didn't...
...Keima."
The little boy wondered for a minute and then realized what he did.
"So you took a look on my paper to see if the fake admission ticket had my real name on it, didn't you?"
Akira smiled while looking at him and said:
"You aren't too bad of a guy after all."
"Shut up."
The little boy then continued writing on his paper.
'He didn't put a fake name on the fake admission ticket. He's probably not used to deceiving others...
Seems like the only reason he did that was because even though he's putting up a tough front-'
Akira again stared at the little boy who kept answering the questionnaire with all seriousness.
'he's doesn't have that much confidence on himself.'
Akira put his hands behind his head and turned his eyes towards his exam paper.
'He probably thought of me in high regard thinking that I was probably one of the stronger opponents and wanted to increase his chances of winning....'
He then looked at the other examinees near them from the corner of his eyes and thought:
'Most of us have full confidence that we can win this without playing dirty... but it's hard to play tough when you're basically competing against this many people.'
About thousands of people are in the area they are in right now. Although, not having been announced yet, it was already a given that only a small percentage of them are allowed to pass, since Savior University was said to be a very prestigious school made to train students to fight wanted criminals.
"Time's up, is everybody done?", mind whisperer, the old teacher, communicated with everyone through telepathy.
"Uhhhh, I'm not done yet!"
"Sir, can we stay for a little longer..."
"We-"
The old teacher suddenly smirked from the edge of his mouth.
"You all remember asking for a flashy exam, right?"
'''''''''''Huh?'''''''''''
"Let's start this show."
Suddenly the old man approached his deck and pressed a button below it.
All the desks suddenly gave out and a hole below the examinees suddenly appeared.
"WHAT THE HELL!", Akira couldn't help but scream with shock as he fell.
____________________________________
'This place is...?', Akira having fallen into a hole suddenly found himself in a dark forest. Near him is some sort of unknown unmoving gadget of some kind.
'Is this some sort of simulator? There are trees everwhere.'
"*cough* *cough* Can everyone hear me alright?", mind whisperer's voice echoed throughout everyone's heads.
"Well you probably could, since basically I'm talking directly to your head right now...
Okay so, to start, does everyone see that weird robot-like thing beside them?"
'This thing?'
"To start it up, press the really small button above it."
Akira walked up to the gadget and pressed the small button.
Suddenly, the button lit up a yellow light.
"That robot is your partner, and is basically your fighter as well...
Somewhere near your footing are 19 other examinees, you will all have the robots you have with you fight each other in a battle royale type match."
'What? This small thing?'
The robot that Akira was pointing out was only half his size and doesn't seem like it has some sort of weapon or shield with it.
"You can use your ability as much as you like, as long as you don't hit the other examinees directly, or with your ability."
'Basically, we're forced to use these small robots as our main line of offense.'
"Your robot mimics every single move you do so be aware of that."
Akira stared at his robot assessing how to use it and what he plans to do.
"Whoever gets their robot destroyed, or had the switch on top of it pressed fails. Each robot gives you one point and once you get 5 points you immediately pass. If you run out of enemies, you'll be immediately transferred to a different area.."
The other examinees in other places faces all turn into a serious, (sobbing) or confident expression.
"Only the first 200 examinees are gonna pass, so be sure to give it your all."
'What? There was like 2000 other people with us, wasn't there?'
There was actually 3000 people there.
"Now, that you all know the rules...
Let's...
begin!"
Akira immediately carried his robot on his arms and the robot mimicked his carrying gesture.
Akira closed his eyes for a few moments.
'Focus the flowing feeling on a focal point...Concentrate on building that image on my forearms and...'
Suddenly, the plain looking guy who spoke during the written exams, jumped in from in between the trees with his robot following after.
He saw Akira with his eyes closed, running while holding his robot in between his arms who seem to be mimicking his running gesture.
'Seems like a free kill... Here I go!'
The plain looking guy's robot who was running besides him, also jumped in charging at Akira's robot.
"Time to use my ability-"
Just as the plain looking guy's robot was about to hit the robot between Akira's arms, on Akira's arms, green branch lines suddenly appeared on Akira's forearms and a small green shield emerged before them, making the robot crash headfirst at it.
*BAM*
The plain guy's robot suddenly shot back and exploded.
The plain guy who was shocked about seeing the shield randomly emerge was suddenly pushed back by some unknown force and lost consciousness making swirls for his eyes.
Suddenly, the plain guy and his robot faded from the area.
Akira's eyes were closed the whole time until he heard the sound that shocked him as well.
"I almost forgot to tell all of you...
Whatever other examinees do to the robot, the user experiences it as well..."
'...crap...'

"Aren't todays new examinees a very eccentric bunch? One of them was even a monk..."
"Oh, this girl seemed like she's doing really well."
A few teachers, Kana and the old man old sat down inside an audiovisual room watching how the examinees were doing.
The girl they were talking about was Megumi Sasaki, who was inside a rocky area.
She was hiding behind a rock while her robot stood beside her unguarded, but whenever an opponent came she would touch the robot, and it would immediately zoom with amazing speed and crash into the opponent's robot in a second without stopping then come back.
She would make a running gesture from behind the rock and make the robot fight even without her seeing the whole area.
"She even figured out immediately that you could move the robots just by gesturing movements.", a large bodied teacher who was wearing ancient full knight armor said with an impressed tone.
"What about this guy here?", the female teacher with white hair wearing a noh mask and a kimono mentioned.
She pointed to the dark skinned guy with dreadlocks that was inside a lava pit and was running on rocks with his robot.
When he saw an opponent, he suddenly swung his long dreadlocks towards them, the tip of his dreadlocks suddenly separated from his hair, turned longer and became long elastic hair that spun on the enemy's robot forcing the robot's partner to be captive as well.
He then walked towards the robot and pressed the switch above it.
"He didn't hesitate and immediately binded his opponent who was still caught up thinking of a plan.", she added.
"Look! Here!", a male teacher wearing a blue bodysuit with yellow linings pointed to a scene between Akira and the plain looking guy.
'Akira!', Kana was shocked for a while but was relieved to see that he was able to block against the opponent's sudden attack.
"Charging without thinking about the opponent's ability, how reckless of him! His failure shouldn't be tolerated!", he continued.
'They haven't spoke about Akira yet, huh? You better start actually doing something, before the entries run out!', Kana thought to herself.
"Something the matter, Kana-chan?", a woman who's body was made out of water wearing a surf suit asked.
"It's nothing.", smiled Kana.
"Oh, we forgot. Your nephews in there isn't he? Which one of them is he?", asked the man wearing full knight armor.
"You won't need to ask me, you'll probably figure it out yourself later.", replied Kana while looking at the screens.
"I'm rooting for your nephew, Kana-chan!", cheered the water bodied woman.

Akira was running inside a forest while shielding his robot.
'This barrier may be tough enough to take an air blast, but it's strength still only compares that of hard rock. If someone gave it their all in trying to break it, It probably won't hold on...
And if I just keep this up the whole match... The first 200 students would probably be chosen already.'
"Student Kazuki Inoue passed."
'Someone already passed? Who was it? No, I don't have time to think about others now.'
"Student Avaron Fujimoto passed."
'What'
"Student Azumi Komi passed Student Ichigo-"
'Dammit, what's with all these announcements, it's making it hard to think of a-'
"Gotcha!"
Suddenly, a dark green haired male with eyebags, and his hair put up by a headband charged in front of Akira.
While charging, from his right hand, a vine with spikes suddenly showed up.
He controlled the vine to wrap against his robot, after a second his robot suddenly grew spikes out of it's metal body.
He then pulled the robot and threw it towards Akira's barrier.
'What!? That's so reckle-'
The spiked robot suddenly attached itself to Akira's barrier with the spikes, the spikes then suddenly grew into vines slightly passing through the barrier.
'Shit!'
Akira canceled the barrier immediately and threw away the violet haired guy's robot to the ground.
...but before it hit the ground, the guy's vine caught it and he pulled it up to him again.
"Being so reckless won't get you anywhere.", advised Akira.
'That's kind of funny coming from me.'
"Are you sure?"
Suddenly, Akira noticed a spike from earlier pierce through the robot near the switch, the spike was slowly elongating and turning into a vine that was about to hit the switch when-
'Shit!'
Akira pulled off the vine and threw it to the ground.
"My ability can make me spawn of spikes out of anything, and for the first few seconds of it spawning, I could make them into long vines that can release toxin. Of course, it wouldn't work on that, since that's a robot... but if it were you..."
The guy pulled up his right hand clenched it with the thumb raised, pointed it sidewards then jerked it to the right gesturing his head to be cut.
"You would have been dead.", he looked at Akira with confident looking eyes.
'Damn, my first opponent and it's already this, huh?'
"I'm Toge Budonoki, you might as well introduce yourself as well before I finish you off.", introduced the green haired guy.
'We're just fighting with robots, there's no finishing anyone off', thought Akira showing a wry smile.
"Akira Ishikawa, I'm the last person you'll see in this exam."
'Might as well throw back his declaration of war.'
"Bring it on."
Both of them charged towards each other.
Akira ran carrying his robot with his left arm with a barrier constructed before his forearm. The green haired guy suddenly pulled his robot again with the vine on his right palm.
As they were closing in, the green haired guy suddenly moved his eyes to look at a bush nearby and threw his robot there.
"This is my win.", said the green haired guy.
He pushed his hand towards Akira's barrier, but Akira suddenly made his barrier disappear and spikes slightly pierced Akira's robot.
The spikes almost pierced Akira's robot whole, before...
'Huh? What the?', the violet haired guy thought .
The green haired guy was suddenly pulled upwards and crashed towards the ground, and noticed he was slowly fading.
"Wait... NO! HOW...?", he immediately set his eyes upon the robot he supposedly threw away to a bush.
His eyes widened when he saw what happened.
"You were too focused on fighting, that you didn't even notice..."
A barrier was built above the bush he was supposed to throw it on
When he threw his robot, Akira must have erected a barrier, making his robot crash on it, and destroying it.
He turned back to Akira, to see his right arm was pointed below, and green glowing branch lines was showing up on the ground connecting to the barrier he erected on the bush.
"NOOOOO!!!", he screamed as he slowly faded.

Akira pulled up the robot to his arms and put his palms an inch above his chest making a begging gesture...
'Focus your energy on your palms, think about recovering and recreating...'
Suddenly, the robot that had so many holes on it started to slowly get fixed...
"I almost lost there, good thing I thought of that immediately."
'My theory is correct, healing myself would fix the robot as well.'
Akira's barrier and healing would be a great asset throughout the game, and as good as it sounds, he could just use the barrier to charge at enemies and heal himself, when his robot gets broken, but...
'I still can't use my barrier and my recovery skill at the same time.. What's even worse is that... even if the robots were punctured or burned, we might not face the same wounds they take, but still we would feel the same pain inflicted on it... I also need to concentrate to use my recovery skill.
If he didn't throw his robot earlier, he might have won against me...'
Akira rested for a while, but after a while he went on guard again.
'I better hurry up and go.'
...
"50 examinees have passed. 276 have failed. 150 entries left."
____________________________________
"Seems like most of the first examinees didn't trouble themselves although their locations were supposed to go against their abilities."
"Put up against a non-common environment, how would they react? That was the sort of feel we made for this exam, but it seems like majority of them are handling it like a breeze."
The knight armored man and the water bodied teacher said.
"That first passer, was pretty quick to finish. We gave him the worst place to use his ability, but he thought of creative ways to use his ability and immediately passed.", mind whisperer commented.
'Akira was transferred to a forest environment because he was used to a clear environment, but still...'
"That guy over there, the one with the barrier ability...", mentioned the girl with the noh mask.
"His name is Akira Ishikawa I believe, remember the written exam portion?", she asked them...
"Yeah... Is something the matter with his results? He finished first, right? He shouldn't be-", the knight armored teacher was about to finish when the girl with the noh mask interrupted.
"He just wrote his name on the exam, but never really answered anything...", continued the woman with the noh mask.
"HUH?", wondered the man with the bodysuit.
"The exam they took before was to team them up with other players who don't match their intelligence, to make those who answered the most wrongs in the questionnaire to show themselves off in a battle against opposite minded opponents. If he didn't even answer...then...!", Kana exclaimed.
Akira face was shown as he ran carrying his robot on his arms.
"Not only will he face opponents who had the lowest scores, he's also about to face opponents who had the highest scores out of every other student!", explained the knight armored teacher.
'Akira, what the hell are you thinking?'

In the middle of a forest that looked just like the place where Akira was attacked by the plain looking guy, were two guys lying on the ground in different positions, and a big shadow before them.
"You- This is unfair! You're made for this exam!", screamed the blonde spiky haired guy.
"Do not be be mistaken, it is you, who was a fool for trying to face me.", a monotone, robotic like voice replied.
"AAHHHHHH!!!!", from the distance, a loud scream was heard.
"80 examinees have passed. 489 have failed. 120 entries left."

Extra: "Akira's Accent"
Akira stood up to Kana half-naked with Akio behind him.
"By the way, aunt Kana...", Akira said planning to ask Kana something.
"What is it?", asked Kana.
"Why did you take off my country accent anyways? Was it so I could figure out that Akio was involved in this?"
"Well...", Kana put her hand on hee head and scratched it.
"I thought that the reason you fought those delinquents is because they bullied you for your countryside accent...", mumbled Kana.
"Oh...", Akira said with a wry smile on his face.

8 179The Traveller from Afar
Lucas didn't know what he wanted, but it certainly wasn’t to get dragged into the middle of a another world. Too bad for him the universe had different plans and now he has to deal with the consequences of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. At least it isn't all bad, he gets to finally make use of those cooking lessons he was dragged into. Chapters 1-4 are kind of like a prologue, they are self contained and only give some background information for the rest of the story.*********This is my first attempt trying to write any type of longer form story so I have no idea if any thing I produce will be readable, I've tried to make sure I have a decent level of grammar and there are no spelling mistakes, but if you do find any please let me know. I am also from the home of tea and crumpets (the uk) so if there are some u's and s's your not used to seeing thats probably it. Uh I dont really know what else to put in a story description so just give it a shot and let me know what you think, any pointers would be greatly appeciated.
