V2 Chapter 27
However, as Rain was watching the battle unfolds, his eyes narrowed in suspicion… where’s the leader?
Up until now, there had always been a single, eye-catching monster that would lead the horde. Both were Goblin Champions in the previous two waves…and they always stand in front of the horde. But this time, not even a shadow of a Goblin Champion could be seen.
What is this? Is this not yet the real wave? Rain wondered as he furrowed his brows in suspicion.
Is this still one of those harassment tactics?
But it couldn't be. He has some tugging feelings that something is not right- something that he had overlooked. But what?
He gritted his teeth in frustration, his mind working, going all through the information he had, his skill [Thought Acceleration] worked its wonder but also increasing his fatigue.
Nevertheless, since the fight had already started, he could not waste any more time. No matter what happens, it happens!
At this moment, a group of Goblins, with exactly the same figures as the ones before, held up their spears as they charged towards him.
Frustrated by the lack of answers to his increasing question, Rain took a step forward; his leg swept across like a dragon’s tail, and with a loud bang, the four Goblin Warriors were sent flying far away like broken kites amidst the violent storm. Although his leg was slender, thin and weak-looking even, the bodies of the Goblins, despite wearing thick armors, actually bent on a strange ‘>’ shape. And when they landed, the Goblins crashed on the ground with a splat, never to stand up again. Perhaps, never even able to breathe again.
“This is making me crazy,”
Rain turned towards the other monsters, sweeping his icy blue gaze across the many Goblins, and then he transformed into a gust of wind. Not only did his twin fists and claws dance about, but even his two legs also whirled about in a dance of death like blades.
Anything struck by him was also instantly reduced to a pulp of messy flesh. However, immediately after, without even giving Rain time to wait, after killing a group of Goblins, another group once again appeared, rushing in his direction. And it’s actually increasing at rapid speed, coming out from every direction like an almost never-ending flood of water.
The spawning point of these monsters is incredibly fast!
Rain’s expression even more darkened as this realization struck his head, like a jackhammer.
It's faster than before, incomparable even to the first and second waves. It's as if the Dungeon had finally made its decision to really kill them, as quickly as possible. At this moment, even Rain was losing hope.
“Scarlet, don’t use magic as much as possible. And try to conserve your magic power!”
He couldn’t help but warn her after seeing Scarlet being attacked, and in response, was starting to conjure flames on her hand again. Although she was the best among them in reducing the monster horde quickly, in a situation like this, however, where the Goblin Champion was out of sight, or any Monster Leaders, reducing the monsters in speed would only exhaust them, instead. The monsters will spawn without limit.
“Okay…”
Scarlet said with a grimace and reluctantly cut off her magic.
“I hate this kind of fight! If only they could just gather once for all and obediently be blown away!”

While grumbling, Scarlet take out a red spear from her storage sachet and started swinging out, and stabbing, and lashing out with her spear. Although she was strong and resilient, she never likes fighting personally. She preferred using magic to mow everything down. But in this situation, that would be impossible.
The monsters seemed to be endless, and it would only tire her out.
“If only everything is that convenient,”
Rain smiled wryly.
“I’ll try to support you as much as I could!”
"Okay,"
Looking at the rushing monsters, he took out his enchanted bow [Failnaught] and silently pulled the taut string, conjuring a magical arrow and looked on as he casually shot.
The air was blurred. He heard the dull sound of the arrow accurately piercing the Hobgoblin’s throat.
“[Multi-shot!]” activating the skill he had just learned, three arrows simultaneously appeared, shooting at the charging monsters.
With that as the beginning, Rain started his own onslaught.
They continued their seemingly endless fight to the death, their skills grow with every kill, as did their bruises, wounds, and fatigue. From behind him came a faint clash of metal on metal followed by a snap of bowstrings and a sudden clamor of screams and cries of pain.
Already, a great press of Goblins were gathering again around him, and arrows whined and skipped on the stones and boulders.
At that moment, however, as Rain continued his battle, unnoticed, some dozen Goblins that had lain motionless among the slain leaped to their feet and came silently and swiftly behind him.
He had noticed them immediately, however, it was already too late.
Two flung themselves to the ground at his heels, tripped him, and in a moment they were on top of him. One of them raised its hand, a sharp dagger on its hand, its ugly face grinning-
This bastard...!
Rain grit his teeth, and was about to shift to free himself, but suddenly, a figure that none had observed sprang out of the charging horde and gave a raging shout.
A sharp sword swung and swept back. Five Goblins fell headless. The rest, blown away by a whip-like thing that had swept over them, making a large clearing around Rain.
"Rain, you safe?!"
Rain smiled, as he raised his head and look at the green-headed Lamian who was looking at him worriedly.
"Thanks to you," he said, and reached out for the offered hand.
"Be careful, some of them are cunning,"
Lafetti warned.
"Yeah, seems so." he smiled wryly.
"Calm yourself, Rain."
With her beloved sword in hand, parried a thrust that came rushing towards her, crashed her sword into the monster's face and slashed the blade on its neck.
"Don't let the blood and cries come rushing into your head, calm and be steady...one mistake can be your end,"
"I know, and I'm trying,"
As he replied, he just had time to see her lover's tail whipped across the chests of the rushing monsters, blowing them away. But then, several Goblins were able to duck in time, evading Lafetti's tail attack, and pressed forward, charging at him instead. Some are really intelligent that the previous goblins...!
Rain's eyes narrowed. But then he noticed, that Lafetti was turned occupied by an another group that came hurling themselves to her from another direction. Without hesitation, he sprung into action, setting aside the bow on his left hand, his right pulled out a dagger from his waist.

Flop!
The first, with a dagger, pulled from his waist, he gutted with a stabbing thrust, only to find his dagger trapped in the depths of the dying goblin's belly. The second attacker screamed and slashed at him, who released his grip on his dagger's hilt and leaped backward.
The tremor returning to his hands, but he bit his lips and raised the bow while in the air. Then, with a smooth movement, he nocked the bowstring and released the arrow that had appeared on his taut strings--
Woooosh.
The arrow took the Goblin in the head, causing it to trip and fall in the ground. But then, he felt a sensation of danger, and hurriedly dove into his left. A fireball came flying towards him, and the ground exploded, flames, rock, and earth came bursting like shrapnel grenades.
A lash struck him hard on the arm. He winced, but the pain was minor. He turned towards the direction where the fireball came from and saw a Goblin dawning a tattered robe, and holding a staff.
A Goblin Mage!
His eyes narrowed coldly. Fury raged over him, and he growled, more animal than a sentient being. Thankfully, he was able to hold back his primal rage, and he rolled on the ground, as another round of fireballs came hurling towards him. The Monster Mage ignored its comrades and continued bombarding his location with magic.
His ears rung, all the explosions and screams almost made him deaf, but still, he bit his lips to feel the pain and returned the clarity of his mind. Then, with a single hand, he flipped his entire body in the air, somersaulted. Mid-air, he pulled the taut bowstring, and shoot.
But a wall of goblins appeared in front, protecting the Goblin Mage. His arrows struck them instead. He shoots another, but another Goblin received it instead. And then another, and another. But the Goblin Mage remained alive.
It raised its head, and its ugly face showing a taunting grin at.
Crackle!
Rain’s expression fell, but his lips curved upwards as well. Electric sparks appeared around his arm, and before another set of goblin wall appeared around the Goblin Mage, the light bolt flew towards its position.
BoooooooM!!
It exploded.
Dozens of Goblin carcasses flew in the air amidst the cloud of dust.
“Goborororor!!”
The Goblin Mage, however, remained alive with the sacrifice of its companions. It crawled from the corpses of its friends, angry. Shouting. Screaming. But when it was struggling to stand up, an arrow flew straight on its forehead.
“Dodge that bitch,” he sneered.
Finally, he was freed from annoying pricks as he once again jumped, gaining a distance from the insane, maddened crowd. He landed on the ground and then turned around to see the others. Lafetti, back on facing against many of her enemies, with matching vigour and murderous aura.
Clang! Cleng! Baang!! Booom!!
The sounds of battle continued to spread across the chaotic Mausoleum and Rain saw Scarlet emerge from the thick group of monsters, blazing her way, like a burning steed dashing through the battlefield.
But they were slowly being pushed back by the number of their enemies.
Focusing all his attention towards Scarlet’s direction, where she and the Ant General were fighting. He changed his aim, raising his bow; he unleashed Multishot once again, along with Bone Spikes! Then, he surveyed the entire battlefield, only to see Granite heading further away from him and the others.
If she continued, she would be isolated—or so he thought.
Because of that, he couldn’t help but warn in worry-
“Granite, back up! They will definitely focus on you if you keep advancing the way you are!”
However,
“Who’s afraid of them!”
The Rock Lamian just grinned. Then, with a swing of her huge spike-filled club, she cleared the enemies in front of him, followed by a slam of her tail against the ground, and the entire place shook.
Her only tactic in battle, here and before, is to swing her weapon with everything she got, trusting only her instincts. So yeah…for Rain, Stagna and the others, in fact, even Drova, it’s not much of a tactic. And perhaps she was the only one who could do it, sacrificing everything and directly used brute force.
Even Drova who prefers to dive into battle like a savage barbarian still would try to think about tactics and techniques. For her, it's the thrill of the battle.
But Granite would not.
As a Lamian, she was also taught the use of swords and bows, but aiming for the critical spot or for the gaps in the armor, or the flashy fighting skills, all those just sounded too complicated for her.
Reading the opponent’s movements and finding the right attack routine to use in response…the Rock Lamian didn’t have any patience for that.
If someone attacks you, block! No need for trick evasion. And if your opponent has a shield, strike through the shield. And if they are wearing thick, plated armor, just smash your weapon through it, no need to care for the opponent’s defense.
No matter what they had, they all died the same!
Force everything with pure strength!
That is how the Rock Lamian; Granite fights!
Absolute strength defeats everything that stands in her way!
“Raaaaaahhhhh!!!!”
BOOOOM!!!
Granite invoked her skill, [Ground Fissure], slamming her huge weapon against the ground, and blowing away the surrounding enemies with the shock wave.
Resting her heavy weapon on her shoulder, she looked at the charging horde, made a taunting gesture, and issued a furious challenge.
“Come and dare? I’ll take you on!!”
""""""...?!!!""""""
“Come!!!”
Granite’s astonishing roar made everyone tremble.
Seeing this scene, Rain couldn’t help but tremble with excitement.
This was a top-level frontline general. It was like he was watching a movie, the famous 300 Movie that could make one’s blood boiled in excitement.
It's as if she was the female version of King Leonidas: "No Retreat. No Surrender!!" type of King as she rampages on the battlefield like there's no tomorrow.
This really made him felt really excited.
Feeling as if he was in one of those epic legends and myths told in history. And this battle before them was one that can be sung by poets and told in stories....though, the enemies are just mere Goblins.
Still... it was damnably exciting!!
