《Witch's pet》CHAP 8: Questing cat

I think Lein knows.
Yesterday, she came home, ate and went to sleep without uttering as much as a word. I just followed, the maid made me a bowl of mixed meat and I slept on a cushion next to Lein's bed. I really wanted to sneak off and explore this town, but there were too much suspicions. Plus I was pretty tired and it was the first time since my reincarnation that I had the opportunity of sleeping in comfort.
And sleep I did, I dozed off right when Lein went to the bathroom, probably to brush her teeths.
Today, when I wook up she was staring at me. No, glared, she gave me an inquisitive glare. It felt as she was trying to see through my soul. Then came those scary words, this inevitable yet terrifying moment.
"Can you understand me?"
…
What do I do? Reveal myself? Play dumb?
What is she going to do to me?
What do I do? I'm fucked!
It seems I am terrible at hiding my stress.
"Relax I'm not gonna hurt you, you are my pet even if you are a bit smarter than I expected."
A bit? Just a bit?
Oh right wise beasts are way smarter than most animals, they can be smart enough to use magic and even understand basic human speech, amethyst cat are even better at it since their mind magic allows them to feel their interlocutor's intensions. She must just believe that I'm …
"I just wonder what a witch's beast is"
Nevermind.
"That sounds really interesting, but I can't find anything about it in my books or the one from the temple's library. It's as if you were unique."
Well in this day and age, that may be right. Now that my identity has been revealed i wish I could communicate to let her know my intensions. Sadly i can't talk nor use magic since it can't be casted silently without a skill, a skill humans obtain by training magic casting. I should get one when I level up, but i don't think preying on city vermin will bring a lot of experience. I need better hunting grounds if I want to level up.

"I need to test your abilities"
I think my plans for today are to find enemies that yield enough experience, explore this city and maybe find a quiet place where I can train my skills without witnesses.
While i was thinking, Lein got changed into some inconspicuous brown leather clothes. The attire made her look like a traveler. She added a long cloak with a hood and became completely unrecognizable. After grabing her bag and filling it with random objects i didn't really pay attention to she grabed me.
With me in her arms, she opened the window, jumped on the tree right in front of it and closed the window behind her with wind magic.
I think she's doing something unauthorized.
At first, I though she was leaving for the day and wanted to walk without peoples noticing her. Then we entered the adventurers guild's hall. Even the easiest quest can take an entire day and it's already noon judging by the sun's position.
I couldn't see a lot since she was hiding me under her cloak but it was obvious that Lein is a regular. No one notice her, but she already knew where everything is. She grabbed a quest on the board and dropped it on one of the receptionist's desk. After handing him her guild card, she was allowed to take the request. The man seemed unwilling though, he kept nagging her about teams and danger of the quest. I don't really mind though, he doesn't know there are two of us.
Now she's heading toward the north gate. And I'm here suffocating under her cloak, in a mix of the smell from her sweat and her perfume. If i was still the human virgin from before, I would probably have liked this close proximity with a woman, but right now I'm a cat with a sensitive nose and concerns about his master's strange behavior.
After an hour of walking, Lein finally set me free. We are now in a pine forest. Bear territory judging by the claw marks on some of the trees. It's already dusk and Lein is already installing a tent. It seems we'll be camping tonight.

The surrounding forest is slowly fading into the darkness of night, a cold night without moonlight. Lein didn't even bother making a fire or setting an alarm. I can already hear her snore. I guess I'll be the one guarding her, it may be a test, either that or she's just an overconfident idiot. I hope it's the first one. It would be sad to lose my master the day after becoming her familiar.
I'm glad i slept late this morning, if not I would be dozing off. There were no signs of unknown presence yet, but I can't let my guard down. And i was right to do so!
A lone grey wolf is currently circling around the camp. I'm faking sleep to get it to lower it's attention. It's a small male, probably a young one. I think i can handle it alone.
The wolf crept closer and closer, i could now hear his panting. He'll be in range of telekinesis in a few seconds.
Now he is. I'm concentrating on his right front leg, to make it trip.
Your target suffer 12 blunt damage. Your target is losing balance.
He fell! I'm closing in while he is still confused. I'm attacking first!
Your target suffer 52 sharp damage. Your target is bleeding.
I managed to bite him on the neck, leaving a large wound, but had to back off to avoid a counter. The wolf is now back on his feets. The blood flowing from the wound is dying the grass red. I think the beast has approximatively ten minutes before it dies from hemorrhage. He's growling. He wants to leave but it knows i won't let him. He started circling around me, waiting for an opportunity. He wont have one, he doesn't have the time to wait. He's getting impatient. If i show any hint of weakness, he'll attack. I can use that.
I took a step back and suddenly ran toward the nearest tree. He took the bait, he's rushing after me. I stopped right in front of the tree and used telekinesis to block his front leg again. He dodged this time, but I still win, he can't slow down before reching the tree! I dashed to the left.
Your target suffer 27 blunt damage. Your target is stunned.
The wolf headbutted the tree and broke his snout on it. And now he is defenseless. This strike should be the last.
Your target suffer 61 sharp damage. Your target is dead.
Congratulations, you are now a lvl 32 Amethyst cat INT+1 WIS+1 CHR+1
I won without even having to resort to gigantification. That "ability" is overpowered but drains all my mana in a matter of seconds. I should try to use it before resting to increase the proficiency, though judging by the ridiculous 3% I have right now, it will take some time before it gains a level.
When dawn came, i used all my mana on gigantification then slept on a mossy rock.
I woke up next to a smiling Lein. Once she noticed my open eyes, she tackle-hugged me.
"My cute little savior!"
It seems she noticed the wolf's corpse.
"With my fenrir this goblin tribe subjugation will be an easy task!"
Dammit! Goblin tribe subjugation are 5-man group tasks! And dare i say that most adventurers death by goblin are caused by underestimation of the green pest and being outnumbered and surrounded.
This woman is insane and any case of death or lifelong crippling we experiment are her entire responsibility.
