Chapter 38- In the Palm of His Hand

Roen had a smile has been stuck to his face for the past day. He was remembering his actions that caused the spectacle in front of him. All he had to do was portray some of my escapades as the product of some neighboring kingdoms, assassinate some important people, and escalate past grudges. Roen closed his eyes and signal the 4 nearby shadows implanted into both the preparing armies.

'Roen, why are we doing this, this doesn't sit that well with morals?' Engil's worried voice rang in Roen's head.

'You have some twisted morals, you kill so easily when it's villages, but when it comes to the bigger stuff you get all flustered.' Roen retorted as he got up and walked towards the giant walls connected mountain.

'It just doesn't sit right with me, the way we went about this when we can just wipe them out in an less round about manner.' Engil spoke without reserve as he was stationed in the middle of the army outside the walls. He had been listening to the angry shouts around him and had been regretting manipulating these people. They already had the power to easily overthrow any kingdom, but Roen insisted on going through the trouble to set this whole thing up.

'You are a servant just follow my plans, there are many things you need to known and many things you needn't.' Roen answered Engil's dissatisfaction and the conversation was cut off before Engil could say anything more. Engil gave a sigh and sat up with the moving crowd of soldiers heading towards the giant Cordias walls.

'Master, Sarah and I have reached our respective positions.' Tyor's voice echoed in Roen's head with his usual respectful tone. Roen nodded and a white throne formed behind him as he sat down between the Giant walls of the Cordias Kingdom and the massive army. His smile slowly turned into a serious face as six purple spheres coalesced around him and started to spin. They spun faster and faster until they seemed to unravel into a thin purple string.

"Go." Roen spoke and the ends of the string flew out in the directions they were facing. The purple lines shot towards the ground and disappeared after reaching a certain distance. Roen's clothes then started to separate into sections; A blood orb, a white bone orb, and a black orb all circled around Roen. Seeing this Roen held out his right hand and a crystal clear orb formed and floated above his palm. Six purple lines wriggled out of the ground and connected to the clear orb.

'Bring them to me.' Roen gave an order to and awaited the clash of the two kingdoms.

------------------------------------------

Shouts and battlecries erupted from the massive army as they began their assault on the giant Cordias walls. Their siege weapons creaked and groaned as they advanced as well. The ground trembled as thousands of feet trampled their way toward the looming walls. The grassy flatlands that once surrounded the Cordias capital was now flooded with the invading army.

"SHIELDS!!"

A loud cry rang out after the army advanced and everyone raised wooden shields above their heads. Then arrows blocked out the sky flying towards the sea of people. The descending arrows lodged themselves into the risen shields and no one noticed that some of the arrows were completely wooden and penetrated most of the left side of the army. Some of the commanders noticed more casualties to the left and gradually shifted their forces to the right to attack the weaker side. Or what they believed was the weaker side.

Hulking catapults made their way to their effective range and started to hurl large boulders and rocks. The walls shook and pieces of stone flew everywhere. However the walls stood firm no matter how many times the catapult's projectiles slammed onto it's surface. There was a peculiar orange film that instantly intercepted the flying rock, but only at the spot the rock landed on.

"Commander, it appears they do have sorcerers as you predicted." A man in leather armor holding a long metal spyglass up to his eye said out loud. A man in silver armor with a large halberd laying over his shoulder walked up to the man who had just finished speaking.

"That's fine the initial assault is just a distraction for our forces to have enough time. As long as there are no unexpected situations we should be fine, but this is war there'll always be unexpected situations..." The commander spoke solemnly and slowly as if to stress each fact. The sounds of yells and bodies falling fill their ears and the air as they kept their struggle going. They already knew they were only a distraction, so they tried to minimize the amount of damage done to these forces. However they were the only ones who knew their task, the normal troops and lower ranked commanders believed they were the main attack force.

The commander cursed their generals as he saw the troops getting slain by the ceaseless barrage of arrows. They were charging to their deaths before even reaching the massive walls. And then even if they did one or two people would amount to much. They were not given any ladders or siege towers to even penetrate Cordias' defenses.

"Commander, we have a report!" A skinny man in light, easy to move in attire was riding a horse over the the commander's position.

"Speak."

"There's been a sighting of on outsider in the middle of the battle zone, but the thing is..."

"What, do not trail off. Go on and tell me!"

"He appears to be a boy in white clothes and is sitting on a white throne. He seems to be resting because his eyes are closed."

"A boy? Noble? Is that it, if it is then don't mind him. It's his fault if he brings about his own death." The commander dismissed the matter and turned around to focus on commanding the troops.

"B,but sir, the arrows don't land anywhere near him!" A shout from the messenger came from behind the commander and the commander instantly turned around with a hopeful expression.

"Is that true?"

"Every word sir, some lower commanders have begun to use the area as a place to treat the wounded and rest."

"Bring me." The commander flooded his legs with his aura and sped alongside the speeding horse of the messenger. They arrived a few minutes after they left and the commander was greeted by several soldiers that were lazing about the grass. He noticed that the arrows that had plagued his path were no longer descending upon him. However his sense for danger, that was homed through his many battles, was telling him this place was even more dangerous than charging straight at the walls.

Then he spotted the boy sitting in the throne. There were several soldiers who were investigating the boy and the mysterious orbs that were floating around him. The commander had is senses screaming at him to run, and he was about to order the command however a loud explosion cut him off.

BOOM!

HOOOWL!

A wolf's howl followed the explosion and a giant transparent wolf started to trample the soldiers around it. The soldiers ran away from the wolf and were unknowingly being corralled into the space where no arrows fell. The commander realized this fact, but he was helpless to stop the crazed crowd. The hordes of people screamed and ran while their commanders tried to take command of the situation and give some control. No one noticed a hollow red vine extending out of the ground and releasing bursts of an unknown gas.

"Calm down, calm down! Everyone reorganize yoursel...." The commander with the halberd was screaming at the crowds when a bright purple light started to emit from the ground. Everyone grew silent and some tried to leave a light, but a mysterious force constrained them inside.

Roen opened his eyelids and calmy observed the panicking soldiers. The hallucinogens that were affecting the soldiers had no affect on him and he slowly got up out of his throne. The surrounding soldiers were confused at his actions and started to question him.

"Who are you and what is this?" A man in silver armor and a large halberd walked up to Roen and asked. Roen was at first astonished by the man's ability to resist the air filled with hallucinogens, but he realized that the man was an aura user and was constantly expending his aura to protect his rationality.

"Who I am is not important, but I am here regretfully tell you I'm sorry you're sacrifice is for a good cause." Roen parted his lips and smiled warmly at the man.

Clang. Rattle. Clang Clang

The sounds of chains rattling filled the man's ears before he could respond to the odd words of Roen. Then the sounds grew louder as the ground started to shake and the purple light blinded everyone's sight.

"I've always hated this spell.." Roen's voice somehow invaded the commander's ears and he felt his body slowly lose it's function.
