38 – Syzygy III
“Heavy sleeper, huh”, I whispered. “Why the hell am I remembering things that are not of importance to me anymore?”, passed my mind.
My eyes were dull. Somehow I felt tired. I would love to sleep for an eternity. Beads of sweat were pouring down to my spine.
Hair at the back of my head was sweaty, and drops of sweat were flowing towards my mouth from my forehead.
I took out few leaves that I had collected from forest that circled Monarch Academy. Fastly I began to rub them with two small stones. The oil that was extracted from leaves of Broad Rose was filled into a small glass container size of a thumb.
Later on, I dripped drops of oil to my palms, my beck and back of my head. “That should be enough”, passed my mind.
“What was that?”, Cyrus asked in hurry. “Broad Rose leaves”, I replied. “I meant the oil... Why did you” as he wanted to continue on I cut in and answered “To refresh my bodily odor. Its much more effective than perfumes sold in markets and its cheaper”
Thinking throughly I haven’t communicated with others at all.
We talked about trivial matters, philosophy and magic. In a blink of an eye hours passed and our carriage landed besides Molten Peak.
Carriages flew back to the academy as soon as we left them. All of the groups got together and Malor began to lead us towards the volcano.
There was quite a distance to Molten Peak even though we had reached our destination. Malor was walking in front of the group while we followed him.
The only rule that we were told to follow was simple. No use of magic to ease the travel. It was some kind of physical training. Moreover chit-chatting was down to whispers and that happened once in a while.
Sun was brightly shining the sky. Observing the others I saw that nobody was sweating. “Everyone who had volunteered is in top condition”, passed my mind. It took another hour or so to arrive at hillside of the Molten Peak.
A break of ten minutes was arranged for us to drink water to replenish the thirst of our bodies. As soon as those ten minutes passed we began to walk towards the top of the Molten Peak.
The volcano was bigger than any mountain I had ever seen. It would not be a lie if I said that it was 10 to 11 kilometers tall in height. Maybe even more, the number that came to my mind was from simple eye observation.
There were no clouds on the sky so top of the volcane could be seen. It was so wide and big that from the place where we were standing nothing but rocks could be seen on right and left side.
Molten Peak is a heavenly volcano to make mortals feel feeble and effete.
We walked up for another kilometer or so when Malor signed with his hands for us to stop.
In a crescent moon shape we gathered in front of Malor. I think he was making a head count. He signalled Elena and she left the group.
She began to chant and caves were formed within the volcano outside of volcane that we were facing. As soon as Elena was finished with caves she returned back to group.

“Each cave for one of you. Elena shall seal the entrance of the caves after you get in. In two weeks we shall meet again. Meditate and cultivate. It maybe once in a lifetime chance for most of you so don’t waste your time in there”, Malor said and waved his hand for us to begin.
One by one students entered the caves. As the last one, on my turn, I walked into the cave and turned to see Elena standing outside. She had a caring smile on her face. Afterwards she chanted a spell and entrance of the cave was covered with rocks.
Darkness. Total darkness that surrounded me woke me up from daydreaming. I turned around but didn’t make a move. Unfortunately my eyes couldn’t differentiate anything in darkness and I was not different from a blind person.
Instead of indulging myself into panic and stress, I lowered my body to sit on ground. By now, I had already forgotten where the entrance was because of turning around for a while like a dumb goat.
The ground was not cold or hot either. Suitable for a person to sit without a care for health issues. Lotus position was my favourite for meditation.
Closing my eyes, I began to chant the cultivation techniques which I acquired in library.
Internal cultivation and meditation for magical training were two total different things.
In my case, I cultivated to accumulate and increase the amount of mana within my origin center. But the mana that was spurting from my origin center and flowing within my body didn’t just stay within the borders of my physical domain(body) but it tried to sip out of it.
Dark red mana was mostly sipping out of my fingers. Although the flow was very thin to be noticed at first. By time I detected and examined it, I learnt that I could increase or decrease the amount of leakage. Likewise I could make use of the leakage in my favor by turning it into flames. Nevertheless the amount and heat of the flames increased as I made breakthrough from one level to higher ones.
In contrast to dark red mana, royal blue mana was leaking out from under my legs. As mentioned before leakage amount was close to nothing but it slipped out nevertheless. Moreover royal blue mana had a different route than dark red mana. It tried to cover all of my body with an invisible layer.
I had tried to increase the leakage of the royal blue mana and use it as a wind. In this case my running speed had increased many folds. In addition I tried to use it as water to pour from under my foot but instead it had changed my body to fluid like state where weight of my body decreased. I could make few steps on the pond near my lodging back in Monarch Academy.
However this newly found powers of mine had its negtive affect(s). Whenever I was cultivating to increase the amount of mana within the origin center to breakthrough to the next level, I always saw and felt the leakage of mana to affect my cultivation.
Cultivation speed and amount had to be much more than leakage amount for me to breakthrough. So another problem arised with upcoming discovery of the leakage.
Whether I cultivated or not, the leakage continued day and night. Overall for me to make a breakthrough, the best possibility was to go in one go. Or I had to cultivate daily so that the time gap between two meditations had to be no more than two days.

Nonetheless after closing my eyes I felt something which was alien to me up to now. The cave that I was residing in had enermous amounts of fire affiliated mana in comparison to any other place I had visited.
Molten Peak was no ordinary mountain or volcane. This was a sacred place to the inhabitants of Pyrr continent.
So thinking through I came up with an idea. A theory which may hold true after some empirical tests.
Cultivating or meditating in an area where amount and flow of mana was greater would help me out to increase my chances of breakthrough in comparison to other location. I had made a mental note that day to learn about sacred, secret and other places which may fit the criterias that Molten Peak had.
Thoughts began to disappear from my mind as I delved into unconscious realm of cultivation. Hunger and thirst were no more of threat to my mind and body. Clear vision of dark red mana firing as a flame covered by royal blue mana emerged in my sight.
The amount of dark red mana was slowly increasing as the result of the Molten Peak’s affect. Though balance was kept in between dark red mana and royal blue mana.
Sizewise dark red mana had overcome the amount of visible royal blue mana. But there was peace between them. That peace was keeping the balance.
One of them may seem stronger than the other, bigger than the other, brighter than the other, powerful than the other one. However none of them were conflicting with each other as both of them were part of me. As much as my mind was at peace, they would be too.
I had lost sense of time. Only thing which I felt was that I was close to make a breakthrough.
“Kain”, a familar voice echoed within the darkness that was covering me. “Who is it?”, I asked out loud. Later on contradicting my question I whispered the answer “Zah’hak”.
[Me]: Why don’t you show yourself?
[Zah’hak]: Too much pressure will be placed upon your mind and body... Your are not ready... YET
[Me]: How come I can hear you then? What about Sobek?
[Zah’hak]: One question at a time kid... Hahaa... It’s because of the ‘insight’... However this place that you are meditating right now is mediocre in strength for me to appear... We can only talk for a limited time...
[Me]: Ok
[Zah’hak]: Syzygy will happen in few minutes... As it will, a technique which I use when fighting beasts will be transferred to you... Although effects won’t be as good as mine because of your current condition. In time it will get better as you improve. Good luck kid!
[Me]: Thanks Zah’hak
I tried to talk to Zah’’hak but there was no answer afterwards.
At some unknown point knowledge began to pour onto me. For some time I was lost in information. My mind and soul was in turbulence. Fortunately I didn’t had to break my mind to learn or memorize anything. It was profound knowledge that was gifted to me.
Turbulent state of mind disappeared as I grasped a technique which was meant for a dragon to use in battles. I concentrated on dark red and royal blue mana.
I don’t exactly know the reason why it happened but as soon as dragon’s technique was consumed by me, I made double breakthrough. Third and fourth gate of my origin center opened up in consequence.
Massive amounts of power were circling in my physical body. At the same time, the amount of dark red mana had increased and there was a slight change in the size of the flame shape that it took. Same changes had happened to the lines of royal blue mana too.
I was immersed in joy when a loud ‘boom’ sound woke me up from meditation. I opened my eyes to see low amount of light coming from my back side illuminating my body on the wall of the cave. It took quite of a few seconds of time for my eyes to adapt to light of the sun.
‘Turn around’, an unknown voice said in an ordering tone. My head felt dizzy so I waited a bit more for headache to pass. “Turn the fuck around, I said”, an impatiant voice echoed.
Slowly I stood up and turned around to face the entrance. “Come out”, man said again disappearing from my sight before I could identify him.
I walked out of the cave. First thing to catch my sight was occurence of ‘syzygy’. First moon was slightly to the left followed by the second moon. They were covering front of the sun. Actually syzygy was dispersing. “That was why the rays of the sun were dim”, I whispered.
“Where the fuck are you looking at?”, the voice of the man startled me. My neck swayed towards the direction from where sound was coming.
There was a man who had a knife on Cyrus Lyth’s throat. He was as tall as Cyrus. Clothes that he wore seemed to be old enough to be torn apart any moment. He seemed to be no older than 40. As his face was behind Cyrus’s head I couldn’t see his face features.
Another man was holding a third year student called Raphael. Raphael was around 175-180cms tall. The man holding him was much more bigger than him both in height and size. His hand was big enough to cover Raphael’s neck.
In my eyes, he seemed like a giant from the tales. There was a big scare on his left cheek going up to his forehead. Beard covered most of his face. He had long curly hair.
“You must be Cyrus Lyth!”, the third man talked.
