Annie POV(Present)

I’m moving through the woods trying to find it. I lost it and now I don’t know where I am. Nothing looks the same. The shadows keep stretching out. I keep hearing something. Sometimes it’s in front of me sometimes its behind. I can’t take it anymore. I wanna go home. I’m lost. Someone help me. I’m lost.

Annie POV(Past)

“Annie! Wake up! Time for breakfast!” (Mom)

I slowly get out of bed and smile, todays going to be great I can feel it. I go over to the dresser Mom and Dad got me for my birthday last year, its got three whole drawers! I wonder nervously what they got me this time, it’s okay if they didn’t get anything. I understand we don’t have much money for those kinds of things.

I put on my nicer dress. This dress is my favorite cause the fabric doesn’t itch. Once I’m done I run into the hall and run right into dad. He puts his hand on my head and ruffles my hair.

“Happy Birthday sweetie.”(Dad)

I grab his hand, push it away and say “Stop it dad, I’m 10 now you can’t keep treating me like a kid!” Though I secretly like it when he does that, but I’ll never tell him.

He just laughs and responds “You’ll always be my little girl.”

I puff my cheeks and run past him into the kitchen. For some reason that just makes him laugh harder. Once I’m in the kitchen and see mom setting up the table.

“Hey Annie, we got something really special for you big day today” Mom says while smiling. “Today we’re having eggs!”

I look at mom and I can feel my eyes widening and she just laughs. I never had eggs before. I start fidgeting “Is it really okay, I heard that eggs are really expensive.”

Dad must have come in because he puts his hand on my head again and says “Don’t worry about it. We had a good year this time with the crops.” Then his smile gets even bigger “Wait until you see your present.”

“Don’t ruin the surprise”(Mom)

I was right today is going to be the best day ever!

Annie POV(Present)

It’s getting dark and I haven’t found home yet. I’m alone. I can barely see but I keep walking trying to find anything that I know. It all looks the same and I keep hearing things. Mom, Dad help me. I trip on some roots and hurt my leg. I can’t see and it hurts. I move closer to the tree and hide as best as I can. I don’t want to be alone anymore. It’s scary. Someone help. I’m lost and I want to go home.

Annie (Past)

I’m walking between mom and dad while holding hands. There taking me to get my present! They said we have to go to Uncle Ray’s workshop to go get it. Uncle Ray is a blacksmith I can’t even guess at what it is. On the way there we see our neighbor Frank but he’s yelling at someone while the guards are trying to get him to stop. The guards eventually drag him off while he’s still yelling. I don’t understand, he was always so nice I’ve never seen him act like that before. I ask mom what’s wrong with him.

Mom looks like she doesn’t know what to say and then dad sighs and says “Franks going through a hard time right now. There’s something I want you to remember. Just because someone looks like a bad person doesn’t mean they are. Like Frank just now. Though the same is also true the other way, just because they seem like good people at the time doesn’t mean they’ll stay that way.”

I don’t really understand but I just nod. Dad looks at me with a smile and says “You don’t have to worry about that now, let us worry about that for you.” This time I smile and nod.

Annie(Present)

AWOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I can hear wolves off in the forest. It’s scary. I don’t want to be here anymore. The suns back up, so I start moving I need to get home before something bad finds me. I don’t wanna go I just wanna hide until dad finds me, Like when we play. I can’t stay though because I keep hearing things. What if the things making noises sees me. Someone help I don’t wanna be alone. Please find me dad, mom.
