《Music System》Chapter 6

When Guy went to work another day he once again met Samantha inside of the employee lounge. She was also apart of the hive mind that is young people, meaning she was so occupied with her phone Guy was able to put a pillow on her head. Unfortunately he wasn't able to contain his laughter and that made her look up, knocking the pillow off of her pretty little head. Samatha looked around for a bit not realizing what had happened.
" What the hell happened? "
" Nothin, nothin at all. Anyway, good morning. "
" Mornin' Guy, hey I heard you piano playing yesterday, it was amazing. Can you tell me the first song you played I want to add it to my playlist? "
" It's an original, so I doubt you could find the song. "
" OH! Guy that's amazing! "
" I know, praise me more. "
It didn't matter who the man was whether he be a cold blooded killer, a dead man, or even in a coma, they would enjoy being praised by someone. Especially if that someone is a young pretty woman. And Guy who had never entered a romantic relationship of any kind especially enjoyed it, so one could imagine his excitement at being praised.
" You should look into getting your songs put onto WeStream. "
WeStream is the biggest site for sharing music, videos, movies, television shows, and of course streaming. It originally started out as nothing but a streaming site but once it got popular it branched out massively. The platform was so big that even Guy who was in jail had hear of it, he had never used it though. ( Imagine YouTube but bigger. )
Guy went into Juvy right as WeStream became popular so he knew very little about it or how it worked, he just knew that people were basically obsessed with it and would spend hours a day doing nothing but watching videos on it.
" You can do that? "
Samantha became bug eyed at Guy's confusion. After all, who hadn't heard of WeStream.
" Have you been living under a rock or something bro. How do you think videos get put onto the website, you think they are just magically uploaded by the video fairy. "
" You didn't have to be so sarcastic about it. And for your information I have been under a rock. A really big one filled with criminals. "
Samantha took a bit to catch on to what he said, but when she did she scooted close to him, leaned in, and started speaking with a shady whisper as though somebody was listening in.
" You were in prison? How long, what for? "

" I entered Juvy when I was fourteen when I was eighteen I went into regular prison. I would also like to not talk about it. "
Samantha wasn't put off by his secretiveness, instead she started imagining the worst. But then she thought about how he was given a job in a public facility and settled down.
" Well if you ever want to tell me I am all ears. Anyway I have to get to work so I look forward to listening to you play all day. "
" Have a nice day Samantha. "
After that the two went to their respective jobs Samantha to a popular clothes store and Guy to his wooden gazebo.
When Guy reached the Gazebo, Luther was once again waiting for him. Guy was somewhat curious about the strict, rich, older man, but he knew that curiosity killed the cat and it would be better to be curious than to potentially lose his job. While Guy was getting situated at his bench Luther spoke up.
" Are you going to be playing any more original songs to day youngster? "
" Probably not sir. "
" Just call me Luther, I am not deserving of respect. "
" All elders are deserving of respect until I am shown otherwise. "
The old man seemed slightly surprised to hear Guy's words, but he hid it extremely well.
" What if I told you I was responsible for the deaths for hundreds if not thousands of lives. "
" I assume you are a veteran. "
Luther nodded his head slightly when Guy looked at him.
" Then you know what they say " Kill one man, and you are a murderer. Kill millions of men, and you are a conqueror. Kill them all, and you are a god. " I killed one man out of bad blood while you killed who knows how many for your country. It's hard to say who is or who isn't deserving of respect. "
Luther showed an appreciative look at Guy's words because to him the quote " Kill one man, and you are a murderer. Kill millions of men, and you are a conqueror. Kill them all, and you are a god. " was unknown, he thought it was an original.
" I hope to hear the first original you played from yesterday, honestly even though the second was fast I didn't much care for it. It was still good though. "
" I will play it just for you. "
After that Guy started to play the fifteen minute long song, getting quite caught up in enjoying it. What amazed Luther was that Guy was able to play the song more skillfully and had it flow much better. Once the song was finished Guy started to notice how he had gathered up quite the crowd despite the mall only being open for a few minutes. Despite that fact he didn't play anything original or special instead he went for a complicated music piece that remembered being extremely difficult to play back when he first started learning to play. When he started to play it though he discovered that the piece was easier than eating a piece of pie. Of course it was natural he would find it easier to play the song, after all his hands had grown quite a bit since he last played the song.

Eventually after a few songs a few people in the crowd had left not because the piano playing was bad but likely because they had other plans.
Once his work day was over Guy decided to not to go wait on the bus, instead he went to a store he had been thinking of visiting since he first saw it, a music store called Luther's. Guy had connected the store to Luther. It would make since after all since the fellow seemed to love music, he was rich, and for some reason the mall wanted a piano lounge player which is kind of odd since it isn't something one would often see in a mall. So it would make since that Luther had convinced his nephew to add something seemingly useless. Of course none of it could be connected and Guy was just thinking about it to much.
The store itself was a door surrounded by wooden walls. Adorning the walls were flat pieces of wood that were cut out and painted to look like instruments. They looked very realistic except for the fact that they were of course flat. When Guy walked into the store he saw hundreds of instruments ranging from wooden guitars to plastic Boom Sticks even a few metal Vibraphones. Guy was like a kid in a candy store and started going around playing around with the various instruments.
He first played around with an odd shaped bongo drum. It was wooden with a tan hide at the top, the odd part of the instrument was that it was similarly shaped to a gourd. It had three consecutive curvy bits with a large round base. When Guy first started to it had an odd resonant with a high pitched echoic sound, almost like natural delay.
( I'm sure that most of you can understand by now that I have barely played any instruments. I learned the beginning part of Seven Nation Army and I for got it. I also played around with a Diddly Bow that I had built. I also used to play around with drums. )
Once he was done banging on the bongos like a stupid child, Guy moved onto the Boom Sticks. When Guy went into prison he had never even heard of Boom Sticks and he had no idea how to use them. When he walked over he saw some young kids hitting themselves on the heads which produced a variety of sounds. Guy waited for the children to get bored and leave before he walked over to play with the instruments.
The first thing Guy did was to grab some random ones and smash himself on the head with them. Obviously the sounds were incomprehensible and sounded absolutely stupid. It was also extremely loud and resounded throughout the store.
When Guy was about to continue playing around a fuming old man walked over. When he saw Guy though Luther calmed down a little. He was still upset though.
" Boy what are you doing, trying to deafen me more than years of using guns!? "
" I get it, you're a veteran, don't need to rub it in. Anyway show me how to use these damn things. "
" Fine, hand me the blue, yellow, and green one. You take the blue and light blue one. When I give you a thumbs up hit yourself lightly with the regular blue one, thumbs down the light blue one. Alright? "
" Yeah. "
After that Luther started to tap himself on the head and occasionally he would give Guy a thumbs up or down, all the noises went together in a short nursery rhyme well liked around America.
Once they were done Guy had a big ol' grin on his face.
" Luther I gotta say that was a blast. "
" Yeah these things are pretty fun. Aaannnnyyyyywwwwwwaaaaaaayyyyyyyy what'd you come by for? I assume not to visit me. "
" Yeah I came by to ask for some sheet music so I could increase my musical playlist. Maybe even something I could use to practice since I don't have the money for a piano. "
" I have just the thing for you. Follow me. "
After that Luther rung up a few books worth of sheet music and an interesting toy that was looked like a piano. It was basically a long piece of wood with all of the keys usually on a piano. It didn't really make much noise but it was plenty enough for practicing a piano. Once he paid the hundred dollars for everything Guy took the bus back home to spend time with his mom before he went to sleep.
