When Sam reached the door to the second floor he could hear cursing from inside. He quickly entered the second floor corridor. The yelling came from the last room, so Sam sprinted to the entrance door. Looking inside he was shocked. The corpses, or what was left, of the two beggars lay in front of the door. Beside them sat the two girls, looking at Sam with empty eyes. The most shocking thing was the zombie standing in the middle of the living room. It was like the bodybuilder zombie of the fifth floor, but it's head wasn't of a human. It had a wolf's head, that was growling at Jack and his friends. It's maw was blood soaked from skewering the beggars earlier and now it charged again. There were only three people remaining, that fought the wolf type zombie. Jack stood in the rear with a bow in his hands but he had no arrows remaining. The delinquent held a sledgehammer in both hands breathing heavily while the chinese youth held a knife. He held it with the blade downwards in a low stance. 'This guy must have some martial arts experience.' Sam thought, then he watched the zombie again. (Wolf-type Zombie Level 5 - Sub Boss) ' A boss monster!' Sam thought in excitement but then the zombie charged. "Be careful, it's much faster compared to the normal zombies. It's a sub boss after all! Sam we need your help, it already killed the Samson brothers." Jack spoke when he saw that Sam had arrived. At this moment the wolf zombie arrived in front of the delinquent. Sam saw him swinging his hammer and trying to hit the hip area of the zombie but he missed and lost his balance in the process. The zombie took this chance and grabbed the delinquents arm to bite it off. "Please save me!! I will to anything you want!" The delinquent begged. *Crack* "AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH" The zombie had broken his arm right at the elbow. The delinquent punched with his other hand in panic and pain to free himself but the zombie quickly opened his maw and bit off the hand of his other arm. The delinquent stopped resisting and lost consciousness because of the pain. Meanwhile a fountain of blood was gushing out his arm painting the wolf zombie red. The two girls screamed in fear while Jack and the chinese guy retreated a few steps. They lost all will to fight witnessing this cruel scene. Sam wasn't unaffected as well, but not as much as the rest. He was racking his brain for a way to kill the sub boss. "Jack, run upstairs, I placed some arrows next to the couch in apartment 16 on the fourth floor. Grab them and come back." Sam spoke. Jack left immediately, while Sam gathered his courage, readied the shield and stepped forward. He was unaware that a minute after Jack left the chinese guy retreated to the door, took the two girls and left. Sam remained alone standing in front of the wolf zombie. The sub boss wasted no time and attacked Sam. It tried to grab his head but Sam deflected it's arm with his shield and counterattacked with a swing of his club. He made contact with the zombies hand breaking it. Sadly the zombie seemed to feel no pain and continued the pursuit. This time it went for Sam's arm but he had already anticipated that and retreated to steps. 'I have to hit the head, otherwise it will get me sooner or later.' Sam thought and charged the zombie. A second before he reached his enemy, Sam lowered his posture and evaded him with a roll. Resuming his stance behind the zombie, Sam readied his club und swiped out toward it's head. This strategy had worked against the bodybuilder zombie really well. In the next moment Sam knew he had miscalculated. The sub boss was a lot faster in comparison to normal zombies and reacted in time. It had turned around when Sam rolled past it and caught the club in it's left hand. With the right hand it swiped out at Sam's head trying to behead him. Sam used his shield to defend. *Bam* The impact was enormous. Sam was flung through the room hitting the bathroom door while still holding his shield. The wood had already cracked making the shield look fragile. Sam sat on the ground, his back against the bathroom door and panted heavily. His shield arm hurt like hell. 'So that's the limit of what I can do alone. The other guys left as well and Jack isn't returning too.' Sam thought depressed. The wolf zombie had already made his way in Sam's direction. A meter away from him Sam could hear a low sound. Unaware to him, Jack had arrived and stood in the door with his bow readied. Taking an arrow from his belt he was left with four arrows. He had shot the zombies back, distracting it and pulling the aggro to himself. Sam mustered all his remaining strengh to stand up and help Jack but he simply felt too weak and could only watch how the zombie walked in Jack's direction growling with hostility. Jack continued to fire his arrows restlessly. Two of them missed the head by millimeters while the other three hit the left shoulder and chest. "Run away!!" Sam screamed but it was too late. Jack received a slap and smashed through the dining table losing consciousness instantly. The zombie crouched in front of Jack licking its bloody fangs. 'No! Not the first trustful person I met! I have to save him.. I HAVE to!!!!' Sam steeled his resolve and dragged his body to stand up. He lifted his shield and threw it with everything he got. *Bam* the zombie got hit square in the face before he could bite off Jack's throat. *shatter* the shield got destroyed by the impact and landed all over the place but Sam hadn't remained motionless and started his attack immediately after throwing his shield. He tackled the zombie to the ground straddling it and repeatedly smashing it's head with the club. He got scratched on his face and arms but never stopped until the zombie ceased movement and died. 'Congratulations Sam Williams! You are the first person to defeat a sub boss, therefore you are rewarded with five stat points.' 'Because of your repeated and experienced fights with shields you are rewarded with the new skill (Shield throw)'

Re:Hammer - The Hammering
Sequel to the sort of liked Re:Hammer. Set in 40k universe, and generally on course. Personal changes are detailed in the Prologue because it's quite a bit. It's not really ended nor is it an attrocity like End Times, but I've got a few things to change. To note: Druchii arc (If this means nothing to you, go read Re:Hammer first) has been learned from and will be avoided. This is not to say there won't be any sex, but we will certainly try to keep it less crazy. Feedback is, as always, appreciated and worked with.

Living as a Demon
Jonathan was living the life of a normal human male in modern-day society, until he was rudely awakened one night by a summoning circle that ripped him out of his reality and dumped him into a new world filled with magic, demons, and…mouthy young orphan girls?! Now Jonathan must navigate the trials of playing guardian to a preteen, learning to unlock his inner demon, and somehow managing to find a dang pair of pants! Welcome! I'm E.O. Tenkey; thank you for considering Living as a Demon, my third released work here on Royal Road (following Not a Manga and Mr. Familiar)! Let's set some expectations, shall we? • Not much hard profanity (chapter 1 is the exception!)• Human MC! Our protagonist is a bona fide homo sapiens. Which is not to say there won't be demons, demonic powers, and what-have-you, but this isn't some grimdark exploration of the life and times of a nihilistic, amoral killing machine.• Slice of life. My previous works always ended up there, so might as well get ahead of the curve!• Weekly updates, and a completed story: I will post a single chapter per week on Wednesdays until the story is complete (extra chapters are rare, but do happen).
