Haiyang awoke and looked around. He saw a room filled with beds covered in white sheets, moaning and groaning patients, and people that looked like doctors and nurses walking around.

He gave a little shake of his head to disperse the dizziness. Looking to the left and saw Shizi calmly sitting and staring out a window.

Haiyang expected pain and soreness when he tried to move, but there wasn’t any at all. He stood up and sat down as he looked at Shizi.

“Welcome to the medical ward,” Shizi laughingly said.

Haiyang gave him a small stare of annoyance but also some joy.

“Let’s go for that walk we talked about,” Shizi said as he stood up and headed towards the door.

With a few minutes of walking, they arrived in front of a sign that said, “Passing Moon Market”.

“Passing Moon Market is the largest market in the city,” said Shizi.

They walked through its streets. Haiyang heard merchants telling about their prices and food products, and how amazing their items were. Their stalls carried sparkling things the merchants had for sale. Some of the items were weapons and some armor.

Gazing all around Haiyang’s eyes sparkled with amazement and wonder. He was seeing things he hasn’t seen in person and some never even heard of. He could smell many foods that made his mouth water.

While walking they heard the voice of an arrogant female yelling. They followed the voice to a crowd surrounding the commotion.

As they squeezed their way through they saw a young woman of flowing black hair, snow white skin, and almost black eyes. She was yelling at an old feeble looking man who was on his knees shaking in fright.

Shizi’s face visibly darkened and eyes flared with anger when he saw this. He walked forward in front of the old and stopped the fist of a guard that was heading towards the old man.

“What is the problem here,” Shizi yelled, voice dripping in anger!?!

The young woman stared at Shizi and yelled, “This old man conned me of 100 taels of bronze by selling me fake merchandise!”

With newfound confidence, the old man yelled, “I did nothing of the sort! I told you that it was a family heirloom and I didn’t know what it was. Yet, you still bought it so you can’t blame me for anything.”

The woman’s face turned ugly as the old man yelled at her. She seemed to be on the verge of exploding.

“It was fake! It did absolutely nothing and for fooling this Young Miss you deserve…” the young woman yelled but got cut off by Shizi.

Shizi yelled, “He deserves what?! What does he deserve?! He deserves nothing as you can only blame your own bad eyes and judgment! Now leave!” With that said he threw a bag filled with 100 taels of bronze at the young woman’s feet.

Her face turned uglier and ordered a guard to pick up the bag. She gave Shizi one more nasty look filled with hate, before storming off with her guards in tow.

With confusion in his eyes, Haiyang gazed up at Shizi.

Anger filling his voice Shizi responded with, “That’s the Qin clan young miss, and although she isn’t talented nor powerful her arrogance reaches the heavens. If this was a year earlier I would’ve done a lot more than just yell, but her fiance is the young master if the Emerald Leaf Sect. I can’t afford to anger them yet.”

With most of his confusion dispelled Haiyang only needed to know about the Emerald Leaf Sect to fully understand.

Almost as if reading his thoughts Shizi says, “The Emerald Leaf Sect is a 2nd rank, 5-star sect. A 4-star difference than Passing Moon City but that makes all the difference. They’re the hegemon of this area and could easily take over Passing Moon City with that 4-star difference,” Shizi breathed a few times to calm down then said, “Let’s go get those herbs.”

Shizi and Haiyang walked for a while before coming in front of a shop smelling of herbs. When they walked in they saw glass cases filled with herbs of many varieties. Some of them gave off a feeling of heat and some a feeling of ice cold snow. The prices attached to all of them were quite expensive with the cheapest being around 10 taels of silver. A normal family could never afford any of these.

Shizi walked up to one of the people behind the counters and asked to see some yin type herbs.

“As you wish Young Master Lan,” the salesmen replied with respect. He walked to the back of the store and came back within minutes. He carried three redwood boxes that looked different but Haiyang couldn’t put his finger on it.

The man placed the boxes down with them facing Shizi and opened them. Inside the boxes were a light blue flower, a dark blue mushroom, and light blue fruit the size of an apple but looked like a blueberry.

“I’ll take three of these,” Shizi said pointing towards the blue fruits. He took out a bag of coins and handed them to the man.

The man laughed and said, “Young Master truly has good eyes. Three snow fruits will be with you in a few moments.” He ran to the back and in no time flat came out with two more redwood boxes. He handed the two new boxes and the original box to Shizi and took the flower and mushroom to the back.

Shizi happily took the boxes and walked out of the store. The duo made their way back to the Lan Clan Manor.

Returning just as the sun set Shizi instructed, “Go get some rest and I’ll teach you how to use the fruits tomorrow.”

Hearing this Haiyang just happily walked back to his “room” which was really just a nice little bed in the sunroom. Checking his body a few times he lied down and happily drifted to sleep.
