《Lord of The Heavenly Villa》40 - A Reason To Fight

“A human who look humble is always the wickedest” The owner of that voice revealed itself from the crowd and walked slowly toward Acma. It was wearing a bronze breast plate with an image of wolf head onto it. Its calmed demeanour made Acma wary of it because it was completely opposite to the other werewolves who were unrestrained and having a bad temper. Werewolf Elder LVL 235
Acma didn’t react to its opinion.
“What are you doing here, human? Chatting with your friend?” A sarcasm was thrown and it was cold enough to make Bardalph shivered. Even this mighty elder viewed it as a friend to this human.
‘...’
Acma wasn’t perturbed by that verbal attack. Instead of answering that sarcasm, he jumped straight to the main issue.
“I met the centaur’s envoys in the forest. They said the centaurs doesn’t want to fight anymore. So, I want to know, what is the meaning behind this gathering?” asked Acma fearlessly.
The elder immediately lost it calmness as soon as Acma said the word ‘envoy’. It snarled offensively, revealing a row of sharp teeth.
“Despicable! You’re really a despicable human. You even dare to kill an envoy. You want to know the meaning of this gathering? It is to kill you and all the humans in that village! I will kill every single humans in that village and eat their hearts”
“Hey, don’t accuse me with something I didn’t do”. Acma erupted. His face darken and his fists shivered, trying to contain his anger. That accusation has gone too far.
“Accuse you? No, I do not accuse you. I’m just stating the fact. Do you think I don’t know you humans, the vilest creature in the world? Even the devils will cower in shame if compared to you. Since you’re already here, doesn’t that mean everyone in that group was dead?”
“What kind of reasoning was that?”, thought Acma.
“Calm down, I really didn’t kill the envoys. If you don’t believe me, we can’t wait for them until this evening”, Acma lowered his tone as he was calming down. He wanted to ask the elder werewolf about their extreme hatred toward human but it was so blinded. Its almost impossible to reason with this creature anymore.
Acma’s word was like putting off the fire with an oil.
The elder raised both of his hands to the sky and howled. It voice reverberated throughout the field. This angry howl became a war horn that marked the beginning of a war. Then, it lowered its body, ready to dash forward.
“DIE!!!”, it roared an then catapulted its body forward.
Acma shook his head a little, unable to believe what he saw. This elder was really unfathomable. First it slandered Acma, then accused him killing the envoys. Now it wanted to kill him. Unforgivable.
He took out his Sword Breaker from the inventory and hold it backward with his right hand.
‘PHANTOM STEP’
Instantly, Acma reappeared in front of the sprinting elder and extended his sword hand slightly to the left of its neck. Like a hot knife cutting a butter, his Sword Breaker easily cutting off its head. Its body was leaning powerlessly on Acma. The red blood still spurting out of its neck, raining onto Acma’s body, giving his armour more ominous looking.
All the audience’s eyes bulged out and their mouth was on the ground. They couldn’t believe that their mighty elder was easily been killed. What’s made them couldn’t accept more was the fact that the elder was killed by a human.

“You’ll live until evening if you choose to believe me. But now, I only need less a second to cut off your head”, said Acma coldly as his gaze fell on the dead elder’s body on the ground.
In a normal situations, this fight might be lasted longer. But that elder had lose its reasoning due to anger. Furthermore, Acma was using his Phantom Step that enabled him to shift location instantly. The deadliness of Phantom Step also contributed by its unpredictability. This three factors lead the fight to end in less a second.
“Grrrrrrrr... You’ve killed the elder. Human, a debt of blood must be paid in blood. You will die today”, said an elite werewolf wearing an iron chest plate followed by a deep growl. Its eyes was blood red due to an extreme hatred.
All the werewolves in the surrounding were closing in, but they didn’t sprinting. However, they’re still fast.
The enemies was closing in, but Acma still had time to look at his surrounding. This was important to him because it helped him in planning his battle better. 500 metres to the West or 500 metres in front of him, he could see the village gate, built with a deep brown coloured wood. The field where his enemies was gathering right now has a width about 2 kilometres from North to South and behind him was a forest. The ground was flat and it was extremely suitable for battle. Since the marching wasn’t started yet, the troop of both camps were scattered across the field. They lumped together with 8 to 10 in each groups and they’re doing their own things.
The ruckus he created only spread among the werewolves. It still hasn’t caught the attention of the centaurs.
“If this really going to be a fight, it’s better if the centaurs joining in too”, he thought.
The reason why he came to this village was to prevent any attack on Orca Village, although he didn’t have any specific way to do it. However, he did thought several of them. The worst was to annihilate every single centaurs in the village and the best would be planting a deep fear into their heart.
If he going to annihilate this tribe, he also have to annihilate every single beastman tribes around Orca Village. Nothing could be worst than that. In fact, he might invited more formidable enemies like the notorious Forest Knight of Isebial Kingdom.
If he focused on what he has on his hand, right now there were more than 1000 werewolves and 2000 centaurs ready to attack Orca Village. There might be more because although it already in the morning, they still didn’t marched forward. The armies at this size surely able to trample Orca Village down. So he had no other choices but to fight. The enemies had brought this calamity themselves. The choose to become his enemies. He had no deep attachment toward Orca Village, but Auntie Pai’s fried meat was so tasty and he wanted to eat it again.
“Tsk.. these guys are too slow”, he thought.
The closest werewolf was about 25 metres. Acma immediately switched his Sword Breaker with a Mithril Sword.
He took a step forward with his right foot and brought his sword to the left. Soundlessly, he slashed the sword horizontally to the right. A 5 metres wide azure coloured Wind Blade flew forward for 500 metres, leaving a trail of blood behind it.
“Lets the fight begin”, he said coolly.
His voice might sound cool, but to the ears of the werewolves in front of him, it’s like the voice of grim reaper.

He jumped towards the nearest werewolf. In a blink of an eyes, he smashed its head with his left knee, immediately exploded it. Blood and white brain matter smeared his knees adding a new colour on his armour. At the same, he slashed down his sword downward, unleashing another Wind Blade, splitting apart anything on its path. When the tip of his foot touched the ground, almost instantly, a diamond coloured spike rose from the ground and impaled everything within 50 metres.
He run toward the North where most of werewolves were located. Acma was unstoppable, not by an ordinary werewolves, not by an elite werewolves, not by anything. His steps triggered an Earth Spike while his sword unleashing series of Wind Blades. When he reached North, he turned to East and then proceed to South, like a lawn mower sweeping through the yard.
Werewolf Captain LVL 125
This courageous captain lunged itself from Acma’s side with two other werewolves. The worked together harmoniously, aiming to attack Acma’s head, chest and stomach. Acma sidestepped to the right, dodging within inches the claw that were swung horizontally toward his stomach. At the same time, his sword already cutting its head off. The other two were off target. Before they could repositioning themselves, Acma already jumped high and swung his sword downward, splitting the left werewolf symmetrically into two. Only the captain were left and it became Acma’s next target. From squatting position, he swung his sword, opening a bloody big wound on its stomach, leaving the intestines hanging out. The captain slowly fell on its knees with its hands trying to insert the intestines back. After a few seconds, its body stopped spasming.
Acma continued his carnage. His armour was blanketed with layers of blood, faeces, innards. His jet black armour was now multi-coloured. Black, green, yellow and red could be seen. He already forgot the sounds of screaming, shrieking or the bodies fell on the ground. He cannot differentiate the expressions of his enemies either it were fear, shock or helplessness.
He only focused on killing.
“Mo..mon..monster”, a werewolf with a sword pierced through its chest stuttered, before its eyes dimmed. Slowly, it knees fell on the ground and stop moving. It was dead.
Acma pull his sword from its left rib cage as he pushed the body with his left leg. He already lost count on how many werewolves he had killed. He turned his head to the left, searching for his next target.
He found his target, a staggering werewolf wearing an iron chest plate. When Acma was looking at it, without delay, it turned around and run. However, before he could take a step, a 10 inches long, 1.5 inches thick Earth Splinter pierced through its throat, killing it slowly.
“Surround him and kill him, he’s just a human. Do not fear him”, Acma heard a shout approximately 300 metres to his right. That range was just nice for his Wind Blade.
Werewolf Captain LVL 120
It was standing behind several werewolves giving orders to surround Acma. Acma immediately swung his sword diagonally toward the captain. In a second, it lose its ability to give orders and fell for eternity.
Acma continued to wreaking havoc inside the werewolves camps. Although they tried everything they could, they still unable to stop Acma. If only their elder was still alive, they might have a chance to kill him. Unfortunately, that elder was the first to fall.
Finally, Acma arrived at the boundaries of the centaurs camp. As soon as they saw Acma, they hastily cleared off his path with an intention not to engage him. They obviously terrified of Acma, watching his savageness in dealing with the werewolves.
How could he let them do as they please, after all what they did to Orca Village? He didn’t mind the first two battle because he considered them as giving a free experience to the villagers. But sending an envoy while amassing a big forces to attack again? That’s not something he could forgive.
He raised his left hand toward the centaurs camp.
“Tier Two” “Blackhole”
A black sphere with diameter spanned to 25 metres appeared above the center of centaurs, sucking everything within 300 metres radius. One by one, the helpless centaurs flew into the sphere and disappeared. Since most of the centaurs were closely clustered together to avoid Acma, most of them fell prey to the sphere. The sphere vanished after a minute, leaving behind a 250 metres deep crater on the ground.
The battlefield turned silenced. They never experienced something bizarre like a sphere that sucking everything. They knew that they were doomed. This human wasn’t someone they could afford to provoke but they already did.
“Alice, kill all the centaurs outside the village”
“Yes, Master”
Alice took 25 supreme guardians to the centaurs camp. Soon after, a voice of helplessness, a shriek of fear and a scream of agony echoed into the air.
After giving his order to Alice, Acma headed toward West. His target was the deep browned wooden gate.
He arrived in front of the gate without any obstruction. He stood there for a moment, looking at the 5 metres tall gate. It look sturdy. Acma took a breath and raised his sword.
Suddenly, before Acma could swing his sword, the gate opened.
‘CREEEEAAAAAAAKK’
That sturdy wooden gate fully opened after a minute, revealing an old centaur woman, kneeling on the ground with two streams of tears flowing down from its eyes. Behind it were many centaurs women and children. When it saw Acma standing outside the gate, the old centaur woman immediately prostrating on the ground while mumbling something.
Acma couldn’t hear the mumbling clearly so he walked into the village. He already lowered his sword to the side as no clear sign of danger were seen. The village’s entrance look plain and simple. The street was wide enough to accommodate two cars side by side. The street were decorated with beautiful wild flowers as high as 2 metres tall on its side. From what he looked, Acma felt that this village was peaceful.
You’ve entered a lordless village
As a lord, you can claim ownership over territories, either by forces or negotiations. If you wish to claim ownership over this village, have the villagers to recognize you as their lord
A notification panel appeared but he immediately swipe it off.
Acma was a few steps away from the old woman. When it heard Acma approaching, it raised its head, showing a faint elated expression. Unconsciously, its eyes briefly glanced at the wild flower decoration to his right.
Watching that glance, Acma knew something was wrong. He immediately moved his sword, ready to defend himself.
At the same time, he heard a sound from his right and left. Within his periphery vision, he saw two sturdy centaurs already swinging their sword diagonally. Both of their front foot were high in the air to increase its power.
Centaur Elder LVL 215 Centaur Elder LVL 208
Without moving his head, Acma pointed his sword and his left-hand finger sword at the head of the attacker.
‘EARTH SPLINTER’
After a while.
‘THUD’
Their bodies fell to the ground with an extra hole on their forehead.
The old woman stared blankly at two bodies lying motionlessly on the ground.
Acma was staring dagger at that old woman. He almost lose his mind and killed it. But he managed to hold that urge and gritted his teeth.
"Do you still have any tricks left", he asked.

Usually will update Wednesday and Saturday, but there's always the chance I haven't gotten around to writing in a while so there may be a break. Additionally, I intend to edit heavily between arcs.

Paths of the Chosen (Rewritten, Revised, and Reinvigorated)
Daniel Stewart was chosen to alpha test a brand new Immersive VR game, "The Realms". What he doesn't know is that he has also been Chosen by one of the Powers of a far-off world, and is now a pawn in a game much bigger than any he thought he would ever participate in. Will he survive and thrive in this strange new world, or will he stumble and fall, shattered by the ambitions of another? Does he have what it takes to walk the Paths of the Chosen?---Inspired by the Chaos Seeds novels, TheDespaxas's The Gamer, and a wide variety of games and books, although the world, characters, and systems are my own. Expect high fantasy, magic, combat and intrigue, love and loss, grief and passion. This story is intended for adult audiences and contains explicit sexual content, profanity, and violence (including sexual violence, although not by the protagonist and not as a focus of the story). Chapters with such content will be clearly marked, and all explicit sexual content will be behind spoiler tags. I prefer my stories to have happy endings, and especially in these uncertain times, I feel that it is important to maintain hope. While this tale will reach some dark places, I promise to you that, when all is said and done, the villains will be justly punished and the heroes will prevail and prosper. Remember: it is darkest before dawn, but dawn always comes. Please note also that although this story does not have the [Harem] tag, it does have an extremely slow build into a polyamorous relationship. Additionally, starting with Champion (book two of the series), the [Multiple Lead Characters], [Female Lead], and [Non-Human Lead] tags would also apply to varying degrees. This is a complete, ground-up rewrite of the original Paths of the Chosen, following feedback from here and elsewhere. It is now written in the third-person limited omniscient perspective and in the past tense. In addition, while the major plot beats are unchanged, most of what comes between them has been reconsidered and rewritten, with pacing and characterization as a special focus.---Update schedule: 2 chapters per week (Monday and Thursday), not counting bonus chapters. Chapter length is roughly 2,500 words on average, +/- 1,000 words. Chapters with explicit content tend to be longer so that they are still worth reading for those who would prefer a fade to black. --- Cover art by Agri Karuniawan (@artofagri).
