Sheev POV

June 20, XX17

“It’s here Swan.” I said pointing at a staircase leading into the basement of an abandoned house near the sewers.

“Excellent.” Replied Swan, as she fearlessly descends down the stairs.

The basement was damp and dark, barely lit by a flashing weak light bulb. The walls were withered and torn by time and unused. Various broken furniture covered by dirty cloths and cobwebs filled the room. These mattered not. What mattered was the door across the room.

Welcome to an Extra Boss Room

Maximum Players: 2

Warning: Once entered, no one can leave until the Boss is defeated.

Swan and opened the door. We found ourselves in a secluded room in the sewers. On the other side was a skeleton sitting on a rusty chair. On the skeleton’s arms was a spear. The tip of the spear was crimson red, and the pole was bony white. Two crossed bones with a skull at the intersection marked the tip of the blade.

“Are you worthy of my spear?” a ghastly voice echoed throughout the room as we entered.

The light turns red and the skeleton stood. Wielding its spear and its two bars of Health, it ran at us. The name of the Boss was Forged Death.

I used my Ability, Snowflake Insignia, to create a controllable snowflake. I sent it moving towards the side of the skeleton.

Swan rushed forward to intercept the attack with her own spear. The moment their spears clashed, I fired arrow after arrow from the snowflake, hitting the skeleton for slight damage each time. Swan forced the enemies spear down, as she high-kicks the skull, throwing it off balance, allowing Swan to use Earth Spike on it for a quarter of the first bar. Before the Forged Death could land after being thrown slightly in the air by the Earth Spike, Swan stabed its spinal cord, and throws the boss upwards at the ceiling.

Unrelenting, Swan pointed her spear upwards and leapt after it. The Forged Death parried with its own spear, but Swan kicked the boss back down the ground. Before it could even land, Swan pointed her spear downwards to stab the boss from atop. The boss targeted me, who was continuously petering the boss with arrows from both myself and my insignia.

It ignored Swan presence and got stabbed from the top. The moment the tip of her spear hit the ground, Swan used Earth Spike again, eliminating one bar.

Swan stabbed the boss, but using its own spear, it redirected the attack diagonally. Swan crouched down and kicked the boss before smashing her spear into the boss’ skull. The Forged death launched a volley of stabs on Swan, but she easily avoided or parried all of them. The moment the volley stopped, Swan swings her spear downwards and following it up with another Earth Spike when her spear touched the ground.

To my surprise, the Forged Death threw its spear at me at high speeds while midair. I failed to dodge and lost a third of my Health from the attack. The boss resummoned its spear in time to block Swan’s next attack, but Swan predicted it would and readjusted for a clean hit.

The Forged Death, now almost death, went into a pure offensive frenzy as it barraged Swan with an endless stab of spears faster than what a human should be capable of. Swan blocked and evaded perfectly, but the boss showed no signs of stopping or slowing. Eventually, the boss died to the arrows I shot at it and finally stopped.

Congratulations! The Extra Boss is slain!

Rewards: Death Lance (Artifact)

“My end draws nigh. Even so, I must complete what I had begun. Until my last breath, I shall forge this spear. Death Lance it shall be named, not because it has power over death, but because I forged it with my dying breath. To whomever one day is found worthy of my spear, may that person strike down his foes like I did my children’s mother. But for now, I shall hold this spear in the basement I chose as my deathbed. Regrets I have many. My grandson’s child is soon to born. Alcor, I believe what his name is planned to me. I pray he not follow my footsteps and fall in love with the wrong person. Of course, my family has long abandoned me for killing the person I loved and thought love me back. Oh, bird of purity, I still love you...”

Swan read out the letter found on the chair.

“Alcor? Isn’t that Aldrich’s son?” I asked.

“Maybe. There’s no harm asking I guess.”
