《Reality or Game》Chapter 31: Raid Development, Part 2

A Goblin Knight descended the staircase as soon as we left the Safe Zone. Its features matched Hawk’s description. We immediately went into formation for battle. Since there were no dangers for backstabs, Sophie moved in front now.
“[email protected]#$%^&*()_+” the Goblin Knight said. While I did not understand its words, it felt like it held meaning.
Aim immediately fired his Ability on the Goblin Knight. The Goblin Knight did not dodge even though it had sufficient time to so. The Goblin Knight lost 11% of its Health from the Ability. It then raised its sword to point at us.
I had a bad feeling. Just as I was about to warn the others, the Goblin Knight copied Aim’s Ability with an arrow firing out of his sword. The Goblin’s Knight’s arrow moved faster than Aim’s, so we couldn’t dodge it. 21% to Block, 20% to Sophie, 20% to Stan, 18% to Rize, 17% to me, 15% to Aim and Mura were the damage it dealt on us. Rize immediately used Healfire on Block.
Aim and Mura fired arrows at the Goblin Knight. Many of them missed due to the sheer speed of the Goblin Knight. The ones that did hit only hit for 1 or 2% Health.
The Goblin Knight ran at unbelievable speeds towards us. I moved the Electron Overcharge I already had to block its path. The Goblin Knight took 17% damage but was not stunned. It swung its sword at Block, which he successfully blocked with his shield. At that moment, the Goblin Knight created its own Electron Overcharge. Block got hit immediately since he was right in front of it and lost 39% of his Health to Block. Even with the added regeneration of Healfire, Block was barely above half Health.
Stan and Sophie attacked from both sides of the Goblin Knight. They both had their Abilities active. The Goblin did not dodge and instead took both hits and was lowered to two-thirds health; however, it utilized both their Abilities to strengthen its counterattack. Both Stan and Sophie were down to almost half Health from one attack alone.

Mura used his own ability on the Goblin Knight. The Goblin Knight willingly took the Ability and was down to 50% Health, but the ability was copied and fired back at Mura, lowering him to less than a forth Health.
Rize healed Sophie with his second Healfire. We could now assume that the Goblin Knight could only copy Abilities that were targeted at it.
The Goblin Knight ignored the frontliners and went directly for us. Realizing that the Goblin Knight would reach me before her, Rize immediately moved away from me. This made me the sole target of the Goblin Knight, so I ran away as fast as I could.
I moved my second Electron Overcharge away from its path and created a third one. The other Players attempted to chase after the Goblin Knight that was chasing after me, but they made sure not to draw its aggro. The Goblin Knight’s sword began glowing and slashed me. I lost 52% of my Health from one slash.
The Goblin continued targeting me. I created my fourth Electron Overcharge. Since the Goblin Knight copied Abilities only after being hit, I would create three Electron Overcharges to finish off the remaining Health before it can attack back.
I sent the three active Electron Overcharges to hit the Goblin down to 10% Health. I failed to kill it… The Goblin fired three Overcharges of its own in response to my attack. I quivered in fear as I watched the Goblin Knight moved closer towards me,
Was I going to die? Did I miscalculate?
But the Goblin Knight slowed down massively. The Electron Overcharges moved alternately in a slow pace as well. This allowed the rest of the Players here to finish off the Goblin Knight.
I could only fall to the ground. I mumbled, “What happened?”

With my mind in shambles, I never figured out why the Goblin Knight failed to kill me. The Players around me did not notice my condition. I robotically followed them up the staircase. If more battles waited there, I would be in no condition to fight.
My heart and body trembled with every movement I made. I had to give it my all just to climb the stairs. I wanted to see Hawk and Dove soon…

A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
