《Reality or Game》Chapter 16: Child in the New World

Hawk walked on my right; Dove on my left. It reminded me of walking with my parents before they began looking down on me.
Landing the final hit on the Final Boss of Reality, looking back at my Party Members, celebrating our victory, and reuniting in the real world; I always dreamed of doing this. My dreams shattered when Lime Breeze refused my joining their Party. If Razor, who praised my skill, couldn’t let me join his Party, how would any other Party, met me join? I had long give up that dream in favor of staying with these children. This day, however, my hopes rekindled as I met Hawk and Dove. Whether it was fate or chance that we met, the thrill I felt made that irrelevant.
We shopped around for things to buy. I enjoyed trying out various Equipment and Accessories. The Shop clerks were also very kind and always praised my cuteness. i didn’t have any money though so Hawk and Dove paid for all the things we bought. I felt bad, but Dove sensed this and cheered me up. They even gave me an Elven Cloak.
At eleven, we ate lunch early. Hawk and Dove talked to me about many things like how they were classmates in real life, how they fought in the Sewers, and about Eric and Liza.
“Hawk and Dove are so cool! Can I be as amazing as you two?”
“You are amazing yourself.”
“Really? I only defeated Razor once in a Duel. Every time I fought Purge, I lost really badly.”
“Defeating Razor in itself is a great feat. Losing to Purge doesn’t make you less amazing. Even Dove here would lose to Purge.”
Dove showed annoyance at Hawk’s comment. Dove always gets annoyed by Hawk, but they seem to pass quickly. Unlike when I had arguments with other children, we didn’t talk for a day. Is it because their adults?

“Purge is the leader of Lime Breeze, right? Is he that skilled?” asked Dove.
“I’ll lose to him guaranteed as I am now.” replied Hawk.
“Then say that in the first place instead of comparing him to me.”
I noticed that Hawk seems to enjoy it when Dove gets annoyed. Hawk smile every time Dove would raise her voice.
“Hawk, Dove, are you two dating?”
“No.” Dove answered immediately. Hawk, on the other hand, gave no reply.
After our lunch, we walked around the Main Street. As we did, we ran into the Lime Breeze Party except for Razor.
“Canary! Congratulations! Do your best and don’t let your Party down, okay?” said Purge; the other Party members were congratulating me as well.
Purge, like Razor, felt older than he looked. He was bald. His black eyes were always sharp no matter where he went. His skin was white; his body was muscular. Unlike Razor, he didn’t give the feeling of an old man. Instead, he appeared to be an adult one could rely on.
“Yes! Thank you for everything Lime Breeze!”
Purge turned to Hawk and said, “Make sure to take care of Canary. He may act mature for his age, but in deep down, he’s still a child.”
“Of course.”
“I’m glad. I panicked when I heard Canary joined a Party, but when Razor said it was you, the worry disappeared.”
“No need for words of praise.”
“Haha, you’re the same as always. See you around then! You too Canary!” said Purge as he tapped Hawk’s shoulder and patted my head.
After they left, Dove asked Hawk, “Purge… that aura…No wonder you think you can’t beat him.”
“He’s probably a soldier or something in real life. Our skills falter compared to the results of his experiences.” said Hawk.

“Yes. Purge said he was fighting in the front lines in real life.” I said.
“Speaking of, you Dueled him a lot right? How strong was he?” asked Hawk.
“When I fight you, I had the same feeling as fighting Purge, where I had no chance of winning. Unlike fighting Razor, who I felt I had a chance given the right circumstances and luck.”
“Who do you think is stronger, me or Purge?”
“I don’t know. When fighting people of above certain skill, the feeling of being impossible to win doesn’t change, so I can’t compare.”
We waited at the behind one of the shops as the Players lined up at the Gate, waiting for its opening at 12. The information states that Cerulean Seas completed the Sewers, but Hawk and Dove said they fought with them but didn’t want their name known.
“All the powerful Parties are gathering: Crimson Swords, Cerulean Seas, Lime Breeze, Platina Knights, and Golden Warriors.”
If I recalled from Purge and Razor’s stories, these Parties’ Leaders alongside a former were considered the best Players of Naut City.

My Pixie Familiar
Pixies are real. Not only are they real, but are considered pests due to their mischievous nature and love of pranks. Some people think they are magical and making a potion or powder from their wings will transfer that magic to a person. Any good alchemist will tell you that is not true. Most will gladly take your money and make you a "magic potion" though. My name is Jase Fisher and I thought I would follow in the steps of my mother and become an alchemist since I didn't enjoy fishing, hunting, or any of the other trades offered in Beau Ferry, my village. Not only have I been looking forward to being an alchemist, I was looking forward to bonding with a familiar. My biggest fear is not bonding with one of the exciting familiars such as a dragonet. If I can just make it through the bonding process, my life is set. Oh, and not run afoul of any pixie pranks.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

Live Life Homunclus
The end is not always the end. Nothing is permanent, and even death itself is merely a transition. This fact holds true for a certain young man who died quite tragically on Earth. Lucky for him, a new life was just around the corner. A world filled with magic, adventure, and oh so many dangers awaited. Everything would be perfect, if it wasn't for the fact that he reincarnated into a homunclus. An artificial life-form said to possess almost zero combat capabilities. An exemplary example of pure breed cannon fodder. Surviving in a world where dragons roam the skies and monsters stalk the lands, wasn't this a bit too unreasonable?
