《I am the Villian》Chapter 4 - Dated

Walking down to the street corner, Samson Marcel felt the pleasant noon air of the slightly overcast sky. He had chosen a more casual clothing option than his usual suits, so he went for a black blazer and suit pants with a white button up underneath. His hair brown hair was combed forward so that it framed his face just right. Samson had wanted to be at his best for his date, even if it was informal. He approached the corner where he would meet with Karen, hoping to see her somewhere.

Samson arrived at the corner, looking around at the few people who were waiting for the street light to change. Samson stood there, then he looked at his phone to check that the time was right. The buildings surrounding him were a bit run down brick buildings, with people of suspect moral fibers and intelligence. Half the people walking down the street had their underwear showing, both male and female, and the other half had pants resembling underwear. The shop windows all had bars over them, and the few sections of walls that didn't have graffiti were barely wide enough to count as a wall.

Ten minutes passed, then twenty minutes passed without a sign from her. Samson decided to give her a call, try to gauge where she was and when she would arrive. The call signal went up a few times, then the other side picked up to the sound of a loud noise. "Karen," Samson said, then something from the other end of the line that sounded like gunfire.

"Hello," yelled Karen into the phone, "who is this?"

"This is Samson," said Samson, "we've got a date today?"

"Of course," said Karen, gunfire blaring in the distance, "I almost forgot! I'm sorry, something-" there was a loud explosion from the other end, "something came up! Let me call you back!" The phone call ended right then, making Samson look at his phone in confusion. He figured he would browse the shops nearby then call in a little while. It wasn't like he had anything better to do today.

Samson went around the few shops, browsing the area until he received a text message. Opening it up, Samson read the message saying Karen would be there in fifteen minutes. Samson browsed a small pawn shop, when three guys wearing ski masks barged in with guns. They all started yelling at the same time in a clusterfuck of noise that only served to add confusion. One of them started yelling at Samson to get on the ground and take out his wallet.

Samson took care of them inside of ten seconds, getting a few bullets fired at him for his trouble. When they were all going into cardiac arrest, Samson reached into his wallet and brought out a few hundred dollar bills which he slapped down on the counter in front of the cashier. "You never saw me," said Samson flatly, then he went to one of the cameras and leaped up to shock it. The shock carried enough electricity to destroy the entire video feed for the day. Samson left and went down the street to a second hand store.

Checking his blazer and tie, he saw there was an entire clip that had been fired into his chest. Grabbing some average clothes off of the rack, Samson bought them and then put them on. He knew that he should wash them first, but there wasn't enough time.

He wasn't about to miss this date, come hell or high water.

Going back out to the street corner, Samson waited until he saw the fine figure walking down the street. She wore a long red dress that went down to her knees and flowed gracefully in the light breeze. Her bust was barely contained by the dress while the contours of her figure were gripped by the dress's waistline. Her hair was relaxed, falling down around her chest and shoulders like strands of gold. Samson saw guys turning around as she passed, the goddess Karen walking amongst the mortals.

"Hey," said Samson pleasantly, "I'm glad you could make it!"

"Sorry I'm so late," said Karen apologetically. Her doe eyes struck Samson with profound sadness.

"I forgave you before you got here," said Samson as the police cars drove up to the pawn shop. "Are you hungry?"

"Starved," said Karen, looking over at the pawn shop with growing concern. "Did you see what happened over there?"

"Yeah, some guys with guns tried to rob the store," said Samson vaguely.

"Did you see who did it, or where they went," Karen asked urgently.

"Yeah," said Samson, pointing to the shop, "some guy took them down. He was just in and out, like it was nothing."

"Oh," said Karen in some surprise.

"Have you ever seen something like this before," Samson asked with some concern. He didn't want a disturbing scene ruining his date.

"Yeah, a few times," said Karen, her eyes lingering on the scene of the crime.

"Are you okay," Samson asked, and Karen shook slightly.

"Yeah, just a little... shocked," said Karen dramatically.

"Come on, let's go eat," said Samson with some trepidation. Karen lingered for a few moments before walking with Samson down the street. They started talking about the robbery, police action, violence against cops, police salary, which transitioned naturally into the job market and personal work. By the time they had arrived at the local diner, they had begun talking about their personal lives. The diner that Karen had mentioned was a little place that served hot dogs in a variety of ways.

Samson was a big guy, so he got two jumbo hot dogs with his favorite toppings. Karen got six jumbo hot dogs with the works and a strange look from the waitress.

"Wow, are you a professional athlete or something," Samson asked jokingly.

"No, my job just burns off a lot of calories," said Karen hungrily. "So what do you do?"

"Nothing really," admitted Samson with a casual glance. "I got a trust fund from my grandparents and parents, so I did the math and set aside a retirement. I'm investing the rest, bonds mostly."

"Are you one of those trust babies," Karen asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I think so," said Samson with an awkward smile. "I try not to spend needlessly, but I can never resist ice cream." Karen cracked a smile, but she looked a little to the side as if to deny her own smile.
