Chapter 22 - The Guards’ System and The Strange Creature

It was about 12PM now, so I decided to just absorb energy into my realm because if I start building my world now, I could go for days without being aware.

After I felt that I’ve absorbed enough energy, I opened my eyes and found that it was about 5PM. I didn’t know what to do, so I decided to try one of the management systems that the System offered for my kingdom. It was the Guard System.

I opened it by saying ‘Guard System’ and I was a little bit surprised with the details.

The guards are just like police officers in my former world. There are 2 separate types of guards, Royal guards and normal ones.

The royal guards are ranked like this: Royal Guard

A Royal Captain has 5 Royal Guards at his disposal. The General is the supervisor of all the Royal Guards regardless of their ranks. He is the one who appoints each guard to a royal family member and he is the one who chooses the people to become guards.

Each family member will have a Royal Captain with his squad of 5 Royal Guard to protect him. This may be enough for Lucy, but it isn’t for my future kids. After some searching, I found out that I can change all the settings. I could change the number of guards that a captain can supervise and even the number of captain that are assigned to each family member. I could also change the salary of each rank and type of guards.

I found that to be useful and helpful since I could just appoint a single squad to guard Lucy and like 3 squads to protect my son or daughter. I may be an overprotective father, but I don’t have any experience in that domain.

I thought of who to assign, but after a while I just gave up because my forces still aren’t organized yet.

After I finished checking the Royal Guards’ System, I opened the one for normal guards.

They were ranked like this:

The Guard General is like the Royal General. He supervises all the Guards regardless of their ranks. He is like the minister of interior affairs, I think.

I thought that Jack would like this position, but he already chose to become a noble, so I have to look for somebody else. I wonder if I can appoint my clones as one or if the System will recognize them as the same individual as me.

I think that I can’t do that since when they access the System to buy things, they will be using my ‘account’.

I decided to make the supervisors that were appointed by clones as Guard Leaders. The Captains would be people who have shown promising results but are still weak. However, many people would be joining my kingdom, so I have to patient and after I united the whole world, I would organize my kingdom well to not regret some of my choices later.

Also, I would like to rule with democracy since the people would like it better like that. I don’t really care if I ruled with strength or not, since if I wanted to do something, I could. With that thought, I wonder if I could make a voting system for my kingdom. I don’t need it now, so maybe I’ll ask Zeus to add it when I meet him in the tournament. That could solve this problem.

After I finished that, I was about to check the Army System, but I didn’t because a lot of information could be pain in the ass. I could probably absorb all of it since I’ve become incomparably smart after I started cultivating and especially when I entered the Deity realm.

[By a pain in the ass, I meant it for the readers. I want to avoid info dumps as much as possible, so I’ll explain the systems one by one]

With that done, I decided to go and play with Lucy. We met in her room and after some flirting; we decided to play some games to spend time. I made a chess board and we started playing it. I easily won, but I could feel that she was improving every game. We spent about 4 hours doing that and it was about 9:30 PM now. We didn’t have anything to do, so I tried to suggest something.

“Hey, Lucy, want to do something fun?” I asked.

“I won’t let an opportunity to enjoy myself pass by. What do you have in mind?” She replied looking forward to my suggestion.

“How about we go clear the European continent of monsters. I don’t like monsters roaming freely in my kingdom, so what do you think about?” I suggested. This was something that only someone as crazy as me would suggest.

“Fufufufufufu, good idea. That could be fun. Let’s go!” She replied. Of course, she would agree. Even though she is soft to humans and is still forgiving, that doesn’t mean that she wouldn’t kill monsters. Actually, it was the opposite; she would feel ecstatic killing monsters. It seems that the blessing, or should I say, curse of Victor helped in that.

I touched her and we teleported to France in front of the Eifel-tower. It would normally be beautiful, but this isn’t that age now. It was filled with destruction. The tower itself wasn’t collapsed, but it was destroyed in some parts.

“Alright, I’ll take the right side and you take the left. The time limit is 4 hours and a half. At 2 AM, I will teleport you to the castle.” I said.

“How are we going to count our kills? Also, you hold a big advantage in this, you know. We must set some rules.” She said, pouting. ‘Cute’ I thought.

“Alright, don’t get angry. For the kill number, we will go with the materials assembled from the monsters. You need to cut a body part of a monster and show it to make it a valid kill. Also, I won’t go into my energy form and I won’t use energy to kill monsters. I’ll just use my physical prowess” I replied.

“Alright, I agree with the kill counting method, but you would still hold a huge advantage. Instead of 2AM, the time limit for you would be 12AM. Don’t cheat, alright?”

“Okay, we have a deal. I will watch you with my energy to make sure that you are safe. 3 2 1 Start” I yelled.

She immediately started running with her top speed. With that transformation of hers, she should be fine. When she transforms, her appearance would change dramatically and her body would harden to an incomparable degree. Her nails would be able to rip apart an Elite monster easily.

I don’t know the ranks of the monsters, but I’m sure that there are monsters higher than Elite ones. I also suggested this ‘competition’ with researching the monsters in mind.

I covered the continent with my Divine Sense and I started my slaughter. Every monster that was located by me was killed with just a swing of my sword. Sometimes, hordes would be massacred with a single flick. When I told Lucy that I won’t use my energy, I only mentioned killing monsters, so when a monster drops dead, I use my energy to cut a small piece of his body and put it into my spatial ring.

I kept doing that for one long hour. I felt slight bound because I couldn’t kill far away monsters that I could’ve with my energy. Every five minutes, I check on Lucy and I found that she is doing well. Unexpectedly, she killed even more than me. I wondered why, but when I focused on her location, I found why. It was littered with monsters. It seems that that place was a den. I now regret not choosing that place.

I kept killing and killing, however, when I hit 11PM, I found something surprising. A monster dodged my sword. I have to say that even Elite monsters couldn’t react to my swings.

I concentrated on it and unexpectedly, it had a humanoid form. It looked close to me when I had the Draconian appearance. However, instead of scales, it had fur. Grey fur, I even suspected that it was a human with a Bloodline, but the heart-clenching roar that it released proved to me the opposite.

I didn’t want to waste time, so I immediately killed it. With killing it, the System would tell me some information about the beast, too. So, I don’t have to waste time researching it.

That’s interesting. It seems that after Monster King come after Elite ones. I’m not sure of it, but I can’t think of a rank between them, so maybe that’s it. I killed it instantly so I don’t know its prowess. I can’t call it weak because even the strongest person here, Icewalker, was like an ant in front of me. So, I can’t really judge its strength with Earth levels.

I didn’t think much about it, so I resumed by slaughter with extra attention to Lucy. I don’t know exactly, but I think that a Monster King would be life-threatening to her. Fortunately, she didn’t encounter any one of them. Although she encountered some Elite monsters, it was nothing dangerous for her.

When it was 12AM, I teleported next to her and she was really startled. Her reaction almost made me laugh to death. I told her that I would be following her and she agreed.

She resumed her hunt and I retracted my Divine Sense to have some fun. With that, I would be able to see her tracking the monsters without knowing their places myself. However, that didn’t help much since my senses were very strong and refined and monsters were everywhere.

Just as I began to get bored, something that made me alarmed occurred; someone attacked Lucy without warning. I kept my head clear and didn’t let anger dominate me because the attack just now was very powerful. It made a crater with a diameter of 10 meters. That wasn’t the worst thing. I observed the attack with my vision and found that it contained just a small amount of energy. It was clear that the attacker wasn’t serious at all.

I spread my Divine Sense over the whole area and found the assailant. It was strange, no maybe HE was strange.

The attacker was a young man with wings on his back. He looked around 16 years old. His hair was pitch black. His black eyes were like an abyss that threatened to swallow you. His jet black wings were like a fallen angel’s. They were made of feathers, if not for their color, I would’ve thought that they were an angle’s.

“What are you doing in my territory? Do you want to die?” He said in a cold voice that made Lucy shiver incomparably.

I coated her with my energy and she looked better. However, the hint of fear in her eyes wasn’t gone yet.

“Who the fuck are you!? Why did you attack?” I shouted at the boy.

“You’re the one who trespassed my territory. I’m ruling all the monsters in here. If you don’t provide a good reason for killing my paws, then you’re going to die, you fool” He said with a tone of an emperor.

I grew extremely angry and cold. I thought that I could suppress myself and try to find out who he was, but it seems that I can’t control myself anymore.

I didn’t say anything, but I immediately went beside him and slashed his neck to cut his head off. I only used about 20% of my speed, but that was enough to cause sonic booms.

The next scene made me dumbfounded. He ducked down and dodged my attack. The shockwaves from the slash destroyed the whole place around us. I wasn’t worried about Lucy since I already teleported her to her room in the castle before I attacked.

I looked at my opponent who was flying in front of me now. When I observed him closely, I found that he had an amused expression on his face. This guy… At that moment, 2 feeling were filling me; anger, and the dominating one, thirst for battle. I didn’t want to use my full power to kill this guy. I wondered why this feeling didn’t happen to me when I was fighting Vasos, but I associated it with my need to absorb his realm that I didn’t want to fight him, just kill him.

However, now, I wanted to have fun with this guy. I just wanted keep fighting him all day long. That’s why I tried to suppress my leaking Aura to about 40% and attacked again.

This time, the expression on his face disappeared and it changed to a mad one. One who wanted to slaughter and kill. We were the same. No one was able to match us where we were from and we wanted to fight seriously against a strong opponent. He was, at least. I just wanted to try and fight this guy and make him get serious.

He blocked my swing with a sword that appeared out of nowhere. It was a jet-black bastard sword that had some black feathers attached to the sides of its hilt.

He blocked it and unexpectedly, he wasn’t sent flying. However, the area around us didn’t escape the damage. A crater started forming around us. Each contact of our swords would produce a shockwave that made the crater even bigger than it was.

Anywhere I attacked him, he blocked. I tried to slice his chest, cut off his arms, and slash his legs. Nothing worked. He parried everything with skills comparable to a real swordsman.

I wasn’t using any martial arts so maybe that helped him a little bit. My sword technique specialized in a one-hit kill slashes, so I didn’t use it. I just swung my sword around like an amateur. However, even that was hard for him to cope with since the speed was so great that he could only prevent the sword from cutting him at the last moment.

After what seemed like eternity in our accelerated world, I started to get bored with the repetition of the same things, so I increased my speed to 50% of my original one. I caught him off guard and as he couldn’t black the attack, I was able to slice off his arm.

He looked at me in disbelief and to heat things up even more; I raised my hand and made a motion of ‘come on’.

It seemed to work as he had an angry expression on his face. He sped up to me with a speed faster than before and started attacking me. His attacks were very strong and I felt that they were different. With a little observation from me, I found out that he was using Mana to strengthen his body and concentrated a big part of it in his sword.

I did the same and my sword started absorbing my energy greedily. My enchantment made it even more smooth as not a single bit of it was wasted. We started attacking each other again, but now, the fight was even more destructive.

Sometimes, I would provoke him by making my energy touch his face or wings. Since my energy is extremely destructive, it hurt a lot and it made him furious. That served to make him use every ounce of power in him to defeat me.

After some minutes that seemed like eternity for us, he backed off, sighed and said.

“I know that you aren’t being serious at all and I know that you could kill me at any time you want. I just have a single request, dragon. I want you to kill me with your strongest move”

I was surprised by him. He knew about my race and strength and he still fought me. I already speculated this and knew that he was a monster that got so strong that he unlocked partial human transformation. My dragon senses were telling me that he was defending his territory. I felt slight pity that this fight is finally coming to an end, but I respected his choice and took a stance.

He also did the same with his sword. He started infusing tremendous amounts of energy in it and the sword started glowing black. It was strange since black wasn’t supposed to glow, but it had a peculiar feeling to it. It like he poured his own life into this strike. I tried to check his body and I felt shocked by what I found out. He was using his soul’s energy to make his attack more powerful. This would result in his own death and even if he didn’t die, he would become a retarded person with no mental ability.

I felt even more respect for him, so I used a bit of Divine Energy and concentrated it in my sword. This time, it was real energy. Before, I only added a small amount of energy that was disguised as a big amount. However, now I used the genuine energy itself without any changes. If I had to guess, this exchange between us would result in a crater of at least 500 meters of diameters

At that moment, a stranger would see two creatures facing each other above a devastated land. They wore expression of respect and devotion. It was a beautiful scene. It directly contradicted the power of destruction that both of them had.

After putting every ounce of life force in his sword, he finally was ready to attack. This time, I used my Iaido to attack him.

He charged at me with a speed that threatened to break the wall of reality itself. It even caused some cracks to appear in space. He swung his sword aiming to cut me in half. At that instant, I felt some danger, so I immediately augmented my strength to about 80%. That was devastating. When I raised my strength to that degree, it didn’t even become a fight. It was just a superior being cutting through a weak creature. He appeared to move in slow motion compared to the speed that my sword moved at.

My martial arts focused on speed, so you can imagine the speed that my sword moved at. Wherever my sword travelled, cracks in space appeared and fissures in it threatened to swallow the whole area.

My sword finally met his neck and without the slightest resistance, it cut off his head. That was apparently a bad decision as the enormous energy concentrated in his sword was now uncontrolled.

That caused it to explode. I was slightly surprised by its power, but I immediately controlled the energy around me to contain. I managed to do that without many problems.

I looked around me and I found his corpse on the ground. It was withered and the skin looked like its vitality was sucked clean. I pitied him even more, however, that feeling quickly faded and it was replaced by confusion, big confusion.

No screen appeared. I thought that he was a monster and the System would give me rewards for killing it. However, it didn’t. I’m sure that he isn’t human since my senses proved that, but I couldn’t think of any other possibility of his origin.

I sighed and let it slip by. I will research this subject later when everything is more stable. However, just as I was about to teleport home, I felt a slight energy fluctuation a little bit far from me. It felt somewhat familiar and I immediately concentrated my Divine Sense in that area.

After some close observing, I managed to detect someone’s energy. It wouldn’t be possible if I didn’t look closely. It was Victor, the demon’s energy.

At that time, I was sure that this wasn’t something simple and this guy was involved in something big enough that even Victor would have to watch.

I returned to my room and asked my clone to ask Victor about this when he trains with him tomorrow. I checked on Lucy and found that she was asleep, and then I sat on my bed and meditated.

*Sigh* A little fun time turned out to be like this.

Unbeknownst to Chris, Victor was now talking with Zeus and from his tone; it was evident that it was something really important.

“Zeus, something really bad is happening to this planet. If those guys come here, this planet’s fate will only be destruction”

“Yes, I know. However, I won’t let that happen. I will go visit them and see if I can convince them to let this place alone. I’m sure that they will give me a little bit of face” Replied Zeus with a serious tone.

“Alright, you do that. I will intercept the one that crossed over to here. You know them better than me, so what is that guy’s rank in their hierarchy. Based on his strength, it should somewhat in the middle” Inquired Victor.

“No, that’s where the problem lies. That guy, even with his power, was banished from their country because he was weak. You can only imagine the strength of the higher-ups there” Said Zeus.

“That’s really bad. We must do something quickly or this place will only meet havoc and devastation in the future”

‘*Sigh* the kid seems to be linked with trouble. First, the tournament and then, this. I hope that he can live long enough to help us in that plan of ours.’ Victor thought.

Hey, guys. This chapter was supposed to be posted about 8 hours ago. However, just as I was about to post it, my computer mysteriously shut down.

I didn't know the reason and I just ignored it, but the problem was that when I opened it, I found that my work was deleted.

I almost cracked the screen by punching it.

I was writing all morning just for my work to be deleted. I lost my motivation, but after I calmed down, I rewrote it and even made it better.

This chapter has 3660 words, the longest chapter that I ever wrote. I'm trying to make my chapters longer to compensate for the slow releases and I think that I've done a good job.

Tomorrow, there won't be any chapters, however, if I get bored at home, maybe I will write one. However, don't expect it much.
