Chapter 13 - Spar

I then materialized in my room when I noticed that the demon was in it.

“How was I? Did I pass your test, senior?” I asked the smiling old man in front of me.

“Yes, you did. I’m quite surprised that you were able to control the energy around you this early, but I have something to ask. What type of energy do you cultivate with, I’ve never heard of someone being able to control all types of energies in the world like you can.” He asked, raising an eyebrow.

“I’m cultivating with the Divine Energy, senior.”

When I said that, his jaw almost touched the ground from shock, he then grabbed my shoulders until I almost felt them bursting and yelled.

“Divine Energy!? Don’t fuck with me kid, only Omni beings can control that energy! Don’t lie to me”

“I’m not lying, senior. I can control it using an ability that I have, ‘Energy Control’. Also, my cultivation technique revolves around using that energy to change my body into a Divine Body, that’s why I am able to transform like this.”

After I finished speaking, he started to laugh like a madman, it was quite shocking since he was supposed to be a supreme expert kind of person.

“I’ve hit jackpot. Just wait, motherfuckers. Just wait. We will have our revenge soon. I will vent my pent up frustration on you. I’ll annihilate you, just wait for a little bit.”

He kept laughing sinisterly like that for a while then he coughed and said.

“*Cough* *Cough*. I apologize for that unsightly display; I was just happy because of what you told me. You’re too weak to know about this now, but you’ll understand the importance of your power when you become as strong as me and Zeus. Now, I want to know the full extent of your power, summon one of your clones and let’s go to that space that you have in that box. With your power now, you could destroy this realm if you fought long, and no one wants that.”

At first, I felt excited of what he said, if I have such amazing power, I can become really strong, even stronger than Zeus and this man in front of me, but after hearing him talk about my spar with my clone, I felt stupid.

How could I not think of this? I was always looking for strong opponents, but one was right beside me.

We then entered the space box and arrived at a white empty space. I didn’t bother to change the space inside the item since I wouldn’t use it that much. I only changed a small place to come to if something happens.

After that, I conjured a clone and then we started our long, long, long, long fight.

It was boring as hell, since both of us were made of energy and we could just absorb the spatial energy around us to heal ourselves, it was possible to attack and even heavily injure the other, but our healing prowess made that futile. That was until the demon finally couldn’t suppress his boredom and said

“This is taking too long, I’m fucking bored. *Yawn*. I’ll personally fight you so I could really deduce the level of strength that you have”

Just as he finished speaking, the clone about 10 meters in front of me burst into a mist of blood. I felt fear creeping into my skin because I could no longer sense him meaning that he is dead.

“That’s a soul attack combined with a physical one, if you can do this then the first phase of our training will end”

I totally forgot about soul attacks, I didn’t think about using them at all. So, I quickly entered the shop and bought ‘Spirit Magic’, it has everything related to souls, ghosts and all of those type of creatures.

The demon was confused at first, but then he just shrugged it off. I wonder if he doesn’t know about the System in this world. Now that I think about it, I don’t know his name.

“Senior, can you tell me your name?” I asked him.

“The you now are too weak to know about it. Also, just call me master. Let’s begin if you are ready”

“Yes, master!”

I yelled and then changed into my energy form, I quickly went behind him and used my soul attack ‘Soul Crush’. He seemed to anticipate it, but he just stood there. My punch that had my soul attack attached to it, hit him in the stomach. At least, that was what supposed to happen.

His figure just vanished into thin air and heard a voice behind me.

“How long are you going to face that direction, I’ve been here since you started your attack, you know?”

Just as I was about to turn around, I felt an impending doom is nearing me. All my survival instincts screamed for me to run away, but the attack was too fast. I knew that a physical attack won’t make me feel this much danger, so it was a soul attack. Desperately, I activated ‘Soul Armor’ and ‘Soul Shield’, two skills from my Magic.

The first one was to prevent the attack from entering my body and the other was to make a shield around my soul.

It may be late, but a soul is just a white orb of light, and the shield was just a golden membrane that surrounded it.

His attack hit me and my armor was instantly shattered, it continued and hit the shield. When it was about to shatter, out of instincts, I poured a great amount of Divine Energy in the shield and the attack was nullified.

When I looked at master, I saw a shocked look on his face that quickly disappeared. I felt angry at him, he tried to kill me just now! I tried to reprimand him for his actions, but he didn’t let me as he attacked again.

I felt blows after blows of soul attacks hit my shield, but they were all futile attempts at destroying it. After a while, he finally stopped and looked at me with a solemn look in his face.

“That’s a good defense you have there, kid. But, it has a big weakness. It can only guard against weak attacks, if there was a powerful attack directed at you, your shield will instantly break, without giving the time to keep it nourished. I was just using about 5% of my powers, but it is good never less that you were able to block my attacks”

I felt very stunned when I heard him, not about my technique because I noticed that weakness a long time ago, but about using only 5% of his powers. With only this amount, all I can see is a blur and even when I use my energy vision or sense, I can’t react enough to his physical movement.

“Alright, now that I’ve checked your defense, it’s time for your attack. I won’t move from this place, try to use your Magic and skills to make me recognize your prowess”

As I thought, he noticed that I was using magic, even if it should be impossible because the energy that I use for magic is the same for cultivation and they should appear as Martial Techniques.

After that, I tried to use something crazy. Crazy because it would probably destroy this place.

I gathered almost all the energy around me to form 2 kinds of spells, one of them is the previously known ‘Space Cutter’ and the other is the most powerful soul attack-type spell, ‘Soul Destruction’, it is able to surround the soul with energy and attack at the same time so it’s quite powerful.

After that, I tried the compress the 2 big spells that were in front of me while condensing them into a single one. It was quite hard since they weren’t from the same element, but I managed to do it.

I couldn’t see master’s expression because I was blinded by the 2 spells that blocked my vision, but I wonder what kind of face he would be making.

After I compressed the new spell into the limit, it had the shape of a pure white sword made of energy, Divine Energy. Then, I proceeded to attack.

I grabbed the sword in an Iiado stance and made a single cut with it. Just as the energy slash touched master, he vomited a mouthful of blood. I was dazed by that; could it be that my attack was that powerful?

Just as I thought master was in danger, he transformed into his demon form and the usual snake appeared. The energy slash was then absorbed by it, I didn’t know how it did it, but it ate it and the attack disappeared.

Just as the attack vanished into thin air, a headache assaulted me and I couldn’t hear what master was saying, I couldn’t even see clearly. After that, darkness claimed me and I fainted.

Demon’s POV

“It seems that he lost consciousness, that’s interesting, I thought that he wouldn’t be able to sleep since he’s just energy, it seems that I have to research a little bit” I said

“Lord, that’s not what you’re supposed to say now! This kid forced you to transform, that attack just now was scary! How the hell could he fuse 2 elements together!? You could’ve died if you didn’t transform.” Replied Damis urgently.

“Don’t be on your nerve, Damis. That just shows the potential that he has in him. Zeus sure is lucky to have him as his successor. I’m quite envious” Added the demon.

“I don’t want you to be envious of me, old man. I also didn’t think that he would come this way just after a few days from becoming a cultivator. I’m sure that he could do what we were unable to do.” Sounded a voice that seemed to echo in the whole place.

“Zeus, what are you doing here? Didn’t we agree that I would train him and you would only protect him from the shadows?” Retorted the demon, slightly irritated.

“I just came back from fighting with Ogra. That son of a bitch became stronger once again, he managed to make me get serious. It seems that we can’t wait any longer, we must quickly make him a deity. He’s this strong without even becoming one, I can’t imagine how much he would be if he became a god.” Responded Zeus.

“It seems that we can’t take it easy anymore. Alright, I’ll to train him for another 3 days to make him understand his full capabilities and then we’ll go kill one of their disciples”

Also, guys. This will mark the beginning of the first arc in this story.

I plan to make it short but epic, if I can, of course which I'm not very sure.

I think that this story is good, I may be biased because I'm the one who wrote it, but I'm only here to improve my English so for those who think that this novel is bad, just point out the shortcomings and I will try to fix them as I write more chapters.
