CH 40
"Teacher!!"
"Damn it, that really hurt."
Ryyla's face contorted with pain both her sides and arms were burnt quite severely and emitted the smell of burnt flesh. She quickly jumped into the sky and floated well above the beast man and began to heal herself up immediately.
"Get your ass down here now."
The panther roared at Ryyla commanding her to descend, clearly throwing a tantrum.
"Teacher are you ok?"
Ryyla gave a painful smile and nodded slightly.
"Hehe just a little toasty is all, I'll be fine in a sec ."
A faint bluish purple light quickly encompassed Ryyla's arms as well as her sides and within merely a few seconds she was completely healed. Seeing this, Sen breathed a sigh of relief, but down below the panther grew even more infuriated.
"No, come down here so that I can kill you, you stupid bitch."
Ryyla's face turned solemn she glanced at Sen and then her face relaxed and a slight grin formed upon her lips. In a hushed tone, she looked at Sen and said.
"Sen, watch this."
Confused, Sen looked worriedly at Ryyla, but knowing his teacher he had the utmost faith in her. The confidence she protruded left him feeling that she was about to do something amazing, so with focused eyes he stared back at her charming figure as she slowly Descended back down to the arena.
As she lowered herself gently onto the stage she was like a graceful bird. As her right foot stood in front of her left toes pointed forward she looked straight ahead at the panther and with fierce determination she yelled out to the beast.
"Today you have committed a grave mistake, you have killed innocents and you have injured many more. This can all be said as tragic, but your worst offense of all was your attempt at my precious students life. I have underestimated you and for that I was mistaken."
Ryyla looked even colder at the beast and in a deeper voice she bellowed out a sentence that sent a shiver straight down Sen's spine.
"But you as well have underestimated me and for that it shall be the last mistake you ever make in this world again."
The beast man could only look on at Ryyla and laugh at her words as though they were trash. He had already injured her quite easily and with the spear in his hands he could continuously fire lightning for days before running out of power. Even if she could dodge for a while could she dodge for days, he thought to himself. Even if she could he still had a trump card up his sleeve.
The panther licked his lips, at first he wanted to get rid of Ryyla quickly so that he could finish the plan, but after a few exchanges with her he felt a wild thrill deep in his heart. One that could only be found through battle. He knew that no matter what he would win so why not prolong the fight just a bit more so that he could enjoy this feeling longer.

On the opposite side, Ryyla watched as the beast man laughed and licked his lips, but to her none of it mattered for she was about to unleash her strongest magic yet. She quietly ignored the panthers throaty laugh and concentrated deeply. She spread her arms wide and clenched both of her fists tightly. As she did she began to breath in through her nose and out of her mouth.
While doing so the surrounding wind seemed to flood into her nostrils making a loud swish noise. The wind kicked up all around as it flooded in her direction. Witnessing this strange scene, Sen was left even more confused by this, but at the same time the panthers laughing came to an abrupt halt. He focused on her breathing, he could feel the mana being drawn to Ryyla.
It seemed like he recognized what she was doing and so he quickly took a battle stance. One last inhale from Ryyla and the wind stopped, none of it could be felt nor heard, at the same time the sky grew dark. Not just the sky, but all around the stage it seemed that a lot of light was just gone, replaced with darkness. As Ryyla exhaled her breath a golden white light left her mouth as well and the light in the sky as well as the surrounding vicinity quickly returned. The beast man's face visually turned paler as he roared out.
"You!!, you're a...."
Ryyla calmly smiled and said.
"Yes, I'm an elemental duel wielder. As I said before, you've made your last mistake."
"Shit, damn you."
"Kukuku."
Ryyla's fist that were spread wide both started to gather torrents of wind. The wind quickly began orbiting her hands like whirlpools of death and at the same time golden light encircled her hands as well. At this point, both elements were condensing down until the wind and light formed into one making her fist appear as if there were golden gauntlets overlaying them. All of this happened in under a second giving the Panther no time to react to it, Ryyla couldn't help but smirk.
"Whats the matter pussy cat afraid of true power, kukuku, come."
Beckoning the panther to make a move she mocked him a bit, but the panther as if in a daze seemed as though he were genuinely afraid.
"Not coming I see, fine, Ill come to you then."
Like a hurricane, Ryyla raced at the panther holding nothing back, arriving in front of him almost instantly. Seeing this the panther had no time to react all he could do was through his arms up to block, but just as Ryyla was going to impact, she disappeared before him. The panther looked astonished as though he had seen an illusion, but just as he had this thought he felt her at his back, he swung his spear behind him and faced her.
Ryyla quickly ducked down out of the way as she came down she twisted her hips slightly and like a spring she pivoted her feet and lunged up with all her might swinging her left golden gauntlet aiming straight for his chin.
*BANG*
As though both parties were made of steel a metallic clank rang out.
The beast man just barely intercepted her fist with his spear, but it being directly beneath his jaw, his spear ended up hitting him in the face instead. Immediately his huge body was sent flying straight up as though he were a sheet of paper. Ryyla jumped up after him, but he struck out with his spear unleashing that same powerful blast of lightning as before.

Having no time to dodge she instead struck out with both of her gauntlet covered fist and once more a resounding *BANG* echoed forth causing a huge explosion. Upon contact, the explosion pushed both the panther and Ryyla back. The surrounding stage as well as a few of the corpses left from the panthers earlier wild attacks were immediately encompassed by this blast, instantly reducing them to ash.
Sen as well, although not very close was pushed back several hundred feet. Outside the arena, the people in the city were all panicking, none knew what type of attacks could cause such destructiveness and none dared to approach in fear of death.
Back inside, although Ryyla was forced back she was only pushed a few feet back and she landed gracefully on the ground once more as though she were a delicate bird. On the opposite end, the panther was forced back nearly thirty feet and he landed extremely hard on his back, but he quickly recovered and got up. As the dust settled Ryyla looked at the panther and laughed.
"Kukuku, how does it taste?"
Confused by her remarks the panther rebutted angrily.
"What the hell are you talking about?"
Ryyla said no more, she simply motioned to her face, she wiped her mouth as though there was something there. Seeing this action, the panther rubbed at his mouth and from the corner he could feel something wet. He looked at his palm and to his shock his hand was covered in red. It was then that he tasted a slightly salty, slightly sweet liquid in his mouth.
He wiped his mouth and then spit the remainder onto the ground. It was as clear as day, it was his blood. Although he didn't take the full force of her blow it still caused such damage. With his tongue, he felt inside his mouth, several of his teeth were missing. on his face complex emotions danced around, he was furious and at the same time disgusted how could he of the powerful beast race spill such blood to a mere elf.
Just like elves and dragons the beast men race could be extremely prideful. Although not as much as the other two, still they would never stand to be looked down upon and ever since the disappearance of dragons what race could match them in strength. Yes, this was also another reason beast men hardly left their lands. They felt being amongst other races were detrimental to their pride and that was something they could not put up with.
The best man was trembling with rage. In all his life, there was only one other that forced him to bleed. Since then, he swore to himself never again would he receive such humiliation. He decided now is the time he would use his trump card. He gnashed his teeth violently at the thought of using it for a mere elf, but he had to admit if he didn't use his trump card he would lose. Thinking to this point his fury was at the edge, so he raised his spear high into the sky and he shouted out.
"COME!!"
Ryyla thought he meant her, feeling a bit angered she decided to kill him now before he does anything else unexpected. She quickly rushed at him appearing before him almost instantly. She started striking out with her fist like a hurricane, she thought she had won, but before her fist landed she heard a cry filled with urgency.
"Teacher dodge!!"
Hearing this voice, she recognized it immediately and knew it was Sen. Trusting him she did just that and leaped back several feet. As she did, a flash of light as bright as the sun lit up the sky and a violent bolt of lightning bigger than either had ever seen struck down directly atop the panthers head. Seeing this Ryyla was a bit horrified, she knew the power of that lightning, it felt several times stronger than the previous ones.
A bead of cold sweat slid down her forehead, she felt as though if that bolt truly did strike her then her life was as good as forfeit. But then why did the panther do such a strange action. This left both Ryyla and Sen completely dumbfounded. As the strike came to an abrupt end the smoke finally cleared and the panther was gone.
Where he stood a 20-foot wide hole was there instead. The two looked within and the air was filled with silence. As they peered into the depths of the hole neither one could see the bottom. Ryyla kicked a nearby stone in and the 2 quietly listened. They both waited and waited, several seconds went by, but neither one heard anything. Just exactly how deep did the hole extend the 2 wondered.
Finally after 10 whole seconds, with mana concentrated in their ears they both heard a small. *thud*
The two looked at each other and Sen finally asked.
"Teacher, do you think he's actually dead? I mean that strike was so powerful and that lightning was very peculiar, could he have survived?"
Ryyla gently shook her head.
"I'm not to sure either, but what I do know..."
"RRRRRROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!"
Just then a roar came from within the hole, it was so loud that the two both covered their ears in pain and at the same time both of their eardrums exploded. Not just them but the thousands who were closest to the arena had their eardrums explode as well. The roar seemed as though the heavens would split and space would tear open.
The two jumped into the sky and took flight, distancing themselves as fast as they could from the hole while healing their ears at the same time. A look of shock appeared on both of their faces. Just then a shadow leapt out of the hole and landed on the remnants of the stage, the panther was not yet dead.
Seeing this Ryyla couldn't help but pout and kick her feet in the air, she yelled at the panther.
"Damn you!! just when I go and do something cool you try to copy me, not fair, not fair, not fair."
Clearly she was upset.

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead.
