CH 34|| One Good Deed

After Sen talked to the older gentlemen he learned that further into the city there is a tournament being held in a huge arena aka the BattleArena. There thousands of spectators are watching with anticipation, to see action filed and entertaining fights. Sen himself was curious, not only because there would be plenty of exciting matches, but also because of what his parents had said still weighed on his mind.

Sure he was upset when they called him weak, but at the same time he wasn't exactly sure on his own strength either. He was at the 7th rank as a mage, but he wasn't even ranked as a warrior. He's lived a sheltered life in a peaceful valley. Besides those zombies and the man from the adventures guild he's never truly had combat experience. He needed to see for himself whether or not he was weak and after he saw that cloaked short man's fight, Sen's blood boiled and his heart rate quickened.

He wanted to fight such an expert one day and defeat them. Sen came to a decision, he would enter this free tournament and he would fight as many as he could to determine whether or not he really was weak, and so Sen confirmed the direction of the arena and immediately raced toward it, but after running for only a few seconds he remembered he came to this street with a purpose. He then turned right back around and ran straight to the bakery and ordered the cake, but the young man at the counter had an attitude and said it would be nearly an hour before the cake was finished.

"What, a whole hour, why does it take so long?"

"Hey kid that's just the way it goes, we strive for perfection here not messy slop. By the way, do you even have enough money?"

The young baker looked the small boy up and down staring at his dirty black cloak which also had a few rips in it as well. He couldn't help but give a distasteful look.

Sen noticing the man's look of disgust shot back at the baker with a glare and in a cold tone said.

"Of course I have money, now how much will the cake cost?"

"10 copper."

"What only 10 copper."

Sen reached into his pocket which held his newly earned money and quickly pulled out 1 piece of gold. He would have grabbed less but gold was all he had. He gently set it on the counter and asked for his change.

The young baker seeing this couldn't quite believe it. Sen appeared so poor, so for him to pull out a couple months salary so casually and place it upon the counter top, the man was left dumbstruck.

"Hello, can I get my change?"

Snapping out of it the young baker inspected the coin closely. He picked it up and quickly bit at the side of the coin to verify its legitimacy, once more he was at a loss, he then shouted at sen accusingly.

"You, did you steal this, who's money did you rob?"

Sen couldn't believe the man's words he quickly roared back.

"What! you accuse me of stealing."

"Yea that's right, there's no way a brat like you could have this much money. Just look at your clothes there in tatters and your covered in dirt as well. The only way a kid such as yourself could have so much money is if you were a thief, a pickpocket."

The man took the piece of gold and placed it in his pocket shooing Sen away.

"Now get out of here before I call the guards."

Sen was about to explode when a woman that was behind Sen quickly shouted out.

"You there baker!! How dare you call someone a thief and then steal their money right in front of them, youre disgusting. Just because he's a little dirty doesn't mean it's not his money. Now return this boys money or I will be the one to call the guards on you."

The woman was quite pretty, but mature, maybe in her mid 40's. She gave off a very motherly like charm. she had brown hair with bits of grey in it that glided slightly down her back and hazel colored eyes as well. She gave off a feeling of warmth. She gripped her plain colored dress tightly as she seemed very upset.

"Wha... ma'am can't you see this brat is a thief, just look at him. How can a child looking like him have so much money. Don't tell me you're actually falling for this brat's tricks."

"Like I said you don't know that, anyone can earn money with hard work, you can't just assume things about people just by their looks. Did you even bother to ask him how he got it, no you just assumed he was a criminal, shame on you."

The man was stunned, he didn't know what to say. Clearly this boy was nothing more than a thief yet this woman defended him like he was her child, the man finally uttered.

"Then boy where did you earn such a sum huh?"

Sen had cooled down a bit, this nice woman's words defended him and it relaxed him slightly. He looked calmly at the man and decided he would answer, but if after the man refused to give him his money back at that moment would be when Sen would quickly break him.

"I helped some adventurers out on the way to this city, that gold was their gratitude towards me, nothing more."

Even though Sen had answered the man honestly the man couldn't come to terms with it, he made a smug expression and said.

"Ya see ma, am he's still telling lies. There's no way a kid like him could help out adventurers. Now kid get out of here before I have to hit you.

Once more Sen went from a calmed state to rage in just a second. He quickly started gathering his mana. He was about to break this man's bones for his bold faced lies, but before he had a chance to strike out the sweet older woman grasped Sen's shoulder gently and stared kindly into Sen's eyes and with a warm voice she said.

"I believe you child."

Sen felt the sincerity in her words and released his mana, he then looked at the man and in a calm tone he said just one more thing to the baker.

"Sir, I don't know why you think I'm trying to lie to you or that I'm some kind of thief, but if you don't return my money I as well will be forced to call the guards. I'm sure they won't take kindly to someone such as yourself who steals from his customers and then slanders them purposely trying to ruin their reputation. So I ask you again as nicely as I can, please return my money."

Sen extended his had in a casual manner and the baker threw it to him and shouted in a trembling tone.

"Leave!!"

Sen and the older lady walked out and the woman was trembling. They walked only about a block and sat at a nearby bench and as they did the woman's knees buckled and she almost fell on the seat, but Sen using his telekinesis balanced her. He placed a hand on her side to make it seem as though he used his strength so the lady wouldn't be suspicious.

"Are you alright miss?"

"Thank you, I'm fine, just a little dizzy is all."

The two sat next to each other in silence for a minute before Sen finally spoke up.

"Thank you miss for coming to my aide."

"Hehe, no problem, it wasn't right the way he accused you like that, I'm sorry you had to go through that. It must be tough for someone so young to be alone."

Sen glanced sideways at the woman.

"Alone, what do you mean alone?"

"Oh, it's just that your clothes and oh my god I just did what that baker did. I assumed you were alone because of your appearance. I'msorry i'm so sorry, please forgive me."

The lady immediately gave a small bow, but Sen seeing this couldn't help but chuckle.

"Hahaha, its fine its fine, really, everyone makes mistakes. Please lift your head."

The sweet lady lifted her head and once more it returned to silence. This time it was the lady who spoke up.

"That man was just so rude, to treat someone like that. I hope you're not too upset."

"Me, nah I'm already over it."

In truth Sen's words were exactly correct, because as he was asking the baker one final time for his money, he had used his powers to forcibly take the oxygen out of the man's lungs. The man wanted to scream or move, but Sen used his telekinesis to paralyze the man's body, not allowing him.

He usually doesn't use his telekinesis much simply because it can be very taxing, but the baker really pissed him off. At the end when Sen finished asking him nicely he released the man from his power, that's when the man threw the money and yelled "leave."

Were you to look closely at the man, you would see that he was ashen in the face. Not only was he very pale but he was also sweating beads, but since the only witnesses were an older lady and Sen himself. No one noticed excepts Sen and the baker who was affected.

Back to the lady she timidly asks Sen a question.

"U....um, can I ask your name?"

"Don't you think it's rude to ask for a name before introducing yourself first."

The lady once more bowed down.

"I'm so sorry, you're right, you're so right please forgive me."

Seeing this lady act so meekly Sen was a little-taken aback, he quickly lifted the woman's face.

"I was just kidding lady I didn't really mean it, so stop apologizing already. Hey allow me to introduce myself first, my name is Sen its nice to meet you."

"Im.....im Jana, nice to meet you Sen."

"Hehehe good good, now that we know each other we can talk a bit more casually. Once more I'd like to thank you, if you hadn't been there I might have gotten angry and done something I regret, so thank you."

"Its no problem, I'm just sorry you couldn't get your cake. do you mind if I ask what you were celebrating?"

"Hmm, oh nothing in particular I was just getting it for my mom because my dad decided to punish me."

"Huh?"

As Sen sat there and explained about how his dad's punishment and their argument, the two chatted and laughed for a little while.

"And so that's what happened."

"Hehe, your family sounds like fun."

"Hmm, I suppose your right. they can be annoying sometimes, but at least I know they care ."

"Sometimes that all you want is for at least one person to care."

As Jana said this she looked downtrodden and very sad. Sen noticed her change and decided to change the subject.

"By the way what were you celebrating today, if I can ask?"

Jana smiled at Sen's politeness and mature nature.

"Today is my only daughters birthday ."

"Oh how old?"

"She's turning 9 today."

"Ah, I remember when I turned 9. I had a really nice cake and a small party with my parents and my teacher. are you throwing your daughter a party as well."

Once more Jana looked saddened.

"What's the matter did I say something I shouldn't have?"

She quickly shook her head.

"No, it's not that, it's just, well I shouldn't be telling my problems to a child ."

"No, tell me, maybe I can help you."

"If only that were true."

"Oh come on, I may look small, but I'm very confident in fixing a problem besides its better to at least have someone who is willing to listen even if it might not fix youre problem it might make you feel better to get it out."

*Sigh*

"I can't throw my daughter a party."

"Why not?"

"My daughter, she's sick, she's been bedridden since she was born and the medical expenses are far too much and all they do is extend her life. Since she can't leave or go outside she's never made a single friend. Even though I work hard every day I never made enough to be able to save anything so she's never even received a gift nor a cake, but this year I finally managed to save up 10 copper. I decided to surprise her with a cake, but, but, all that trouble happened and when I saw him yelling at you I wanted to look away and not cause any trouble so I could get her one, but you looked so sad and I saw how you were dressed and I though you were alone and so I couldn't just watch I had to do something it was so scary."

Jana began to bawl her eyes out and Sen seeing this felt like his own mother was crying. He quickly grabbed Jana and gave her a tight embrace and gently rubbed her back, Jana was a bit surprised at first but accepted it and continued to cry. After almost 10 minutes she finally settled down, she wiped her tears away and looked at Sen with a bright smile.

"Thank you Sen, even though it wasn't much to you, just hugging me and letting me cry helped me feel a lot better. I better go now and get to my daughter before she starts to worry, goodbye."

And like that Jana got up, bowed at Sen and started to walk away, but before she even made it 2 steps Sen grabbed her arm.

"Jana what kind of illness does your daughter have?"

"She has a type of blood disease, doctors have no name for it yet that's how rare it is and also she always has trouble breathing. It's so bad that if she were to walk around more than a few minutes she would have an episode and possibly collapse because of her breathing."

"How come you've never taken her to a mage to get healed."

"I did once, but he said her disease required someone at least a 6th rank mage with the element of light to heal her and that the cost would be a thousand gold."

Sen stood there silently and pondered for a minute while Jana just stood there and watched him curiously.

"Ok it's decided, take me to your house."

"Huh, why Sen?

"Hehe, because I'm going to heal your daughter."

The words left Sen's mouth and echoed repeatedly in her mind, she couldn't comprehend his words

"Wha...what are you saying, please don't joke like that sen that really hurts."

"No, I'm not joking, I'll do it, ill heal your daughter free of charge."

"You're saying your a mage, what rank are you?"

"I'm at the 7th rank for now ."

Jana collapsed on the ground on her knees she wanted to cry once more.

"Please Sen, please don't lie to me, can you really cure my baby?"

Sen gave a simple nod and with that the two walked quickly to Janas house, but when Sen got there he was a bit shocked. Her place of living was near the outskirts of the city. Outside the city there were hundreds of small hut like homes gathered in a big circle. Each were made of nothing more than sticks and mud and Jana's home was among them. The two walked thru the hut area for several minutes before they came upon Jana's hut, it was especially small and looked to be falling apart.

"Please come in."

The front didn't even have a door merely a long tattered dirty cloth, that was all that separated the inside from the elements on the outside. When Sen entered he immediately came to a stop because there was nowhere else to go, the whole hut consisted of only one room with a single small bed on the floor. Beside the bed there were 2 pots 1 pan and only one cup, no utensils no bathroom and no furniture whatsoever, poor was an understatment to describe this place.

On the bed lay a small frail girl only 9 years old. She was so skinny that a lot of her bones were easily visible thru her skin. She too had long brown hair and brown eyes, she quickly said in a terribly weak tone.

"Mom we have a guest?" *koff koff*

The young girl barely managed to lift herself to sit up.

"Yes sweety, this boy is Sen and he's a friend of mommy's."

"Hello sen*koff* my name is Zara, it's so nice to meet you. "*koff koff*

"Honey please don't talk so much you're too weak, conserve your strength."

Jana couldn't help but stare at Sen with saddened yet hopeful eyes. If he could truly heal her daughter then nothing else in the world mattered.

"Sen can you really help my daughter can you do it?"

Sen said nothing and calmly sat on the bed directly in front of Zara. He reached for her face and she immediately flinched. This girls only contact to the outside world had only ever been her mother, she was not used to someone trying to touch her. Sen paid no mind to it at all, instead he quickly placed a palm upon Zara's forehead and just stared at her examining her.

"Ok, here goes nothing."

Sen immediately began to channel mana into his arm into his hand and out of his palm. His left hand that laid upon Zara's head began to emit a purple-blue light glowing brighter and brighter. Seeing this both mother and daughter were shocked, Zara because she had no clue what was going on and Jana because Sen was actually doing it. As the light reached it's maximum level of brightness and the mana itself reached the best potency, Sen then forced the mana directly into Zara's body .

Zara immediately began to convulse in pain and shock, Jana panicked and shouted out.

"Stop you're hurting her."

But Sen just ignored her and continued to pump healing magic into Zara's body. Jana quickly tried to grab at Sen to stop him, she thought this was all a mistake and that Sen was actually gonna hurt her daughter. She couldn't live in this world if her daughter wasn't with her, but as her hand was placed on Sen's arm to try and tear him away something mysterious happened. Jana noticed that her entire body became unable to move. She struggled but no matter what she did she just couldn't break free from this invisible grasp .

"What are you doing to me?"

Still Sen ignored her, his eyes glowed a faint red, but because of Jana's terror she didn't even notice. He then lifted her with telekinesis and pinned her to the wall once more allowing her no movement. As he continued to concentrate amazing changes were unfolding within Zara's small body. Her blood was being cleansed filtered and purified, new blood cells were rapidly regenerating becoming increasingly more healthy with each second and bad blood cells were constantly being destroyed left and right.

Within her lungs dead tissue was being eroded away while new tissue formed and regrew. One lung was completely destroyed and rebuilt anew within her, but that wasn't all. Bones strengthened, new muscle tissue was rapidly growing her whole body was going thru an evolution. It was becoming what it should have been were she not born with any illnesses and to Zara it was extremely painful, like a million needles was dashing all throughout her body ripping and sewing everything all at once.

The only reason why she didn't just die due to shock was because of Sen's skill. He was so good at mana control that it was nearly perfect. With it, all of his abilities became leap and bounds better than other magicians. Even compared to Ryyla it was the one thing he could undoubtedly say he was better than her at. Because of this perfect control he could precisely time how much healing the girls body needed and when.

He was sending healing to her in waves just enough as to not overload her nervous system driving her to shock and then death. This as well was the reason why she wasn't healed instantly and it was taking several minutes. Once more this made Sen wonder why Titans-Might went out of control with his body. He had such perfect control yet that one technique went wild within his hands, he just couldn't figure out why.

Ryyla had said it was because of his eyes because they were like an amplifier, but didn't that mean that it was his eyes that weren't perfectly under his control. As he continued to feed his healing light into Zara, soon her body stopped convulsing and she shook no more. Her breathing relaxed and the pain was no longer there.

The light from Sen's hand quickly faded away and he was absolutely dripping with sweat. It had taken nearliy 12 minutes and sen was physically exhausted, once more he realized he lacked endurance. Sen released Jana from the wall and his eyes returned to black he sat there on the bed and breathed a deep sigh of relief.

"Phew, I'm done."
