Chapter 13|| Leaving Freyor The Storm

As tara and kai were leaving Freyor city they noticed all the guards giving them strange looks, but since they didn't stop them the two soon put it behind them. As soon as they got a mile out tara took off Sens blindfold and his eyes immediately began to glow, and a small pebble soon floated up near Sen and started moving up and down. Seeing this tara and kai looked at each other and began to laugh. They thought just like usual, but then tara had an idea.

"Kai do you think Sens just playing with the pebble or training with it."

"Training? but he's just a kid, of course, he's playi. ."

And like a flash of lightning kai as well soon began to think of some things and he followed up with.

"I don't know maybe."

"(I can finally see again, that invasion of mana felt simply disgusting running thruout my body. When I get a chance ill have to make that ryyla woman suffer a bit, but she's so strong I couldn't even tell what Lvl she was at it was like something was clouding her from my senses. When I grow older I should probably learn that secret. to be able to hide my Lvl that could be very advantageous at some point, but what she discussed me being part demon. I wonder if that has something to do with my knowledge, god I need to hurry and grow this waiting is torture to know all these things and not even talk or walk or shit without someone cleaning it up for me so embarrassing. *sigh* For now all i can do is continue my training and wait)."

"Tara take this."

[Kai took out the bracelet he had swiped from ryyla and placed it on tara's wrist.]

Tara shocked by this.

"Wouldn't it be better on you? if you have it you'll easily be a 7th rank, but for me id only be a 2nd."

"It doesn't matter, if something came up and we get separated I need to know that you'll be able to protect Sen without me. Besides you've always wanted to try magic remember."

Tara blushing at the fact that kai still remembered her childhood dream she had told him about a long time ago.

"You still remember that?"

"Of course how could I forget something my beautiful wife has said to me."

"Oh really, what about the time I told you not to eat those fefe fruit. I had warned you they weren't ripe yet, but you ate them anyway and got a terrible stomach cramp along with nasty gas for a week. I thought I'd suffocate with the things you released."

Kai quickly felt embarrassed and he shyly rubbed the back of his head chuckling.

"Hahaha well, maybe not everything."

Soon tara started laughing as well and after a bit they both quieted down. Tara gently laid her head on his shoulder and they both began to think about fond memories of the past.

As the three headed north east towards Cordel, just behind them a few hundred feet away were two blurs quietly following suit.

"Luke can I attack now?"

"Not yet, just a bit further after they're out of sight from the city."

"Why from the city they're no civilians out here."

"True, but if were to close to the city and it gets a bit rough the guards may see the commotion, and come running thinking somethings happened to us. They would simply get in the way."

"Gets a bit rough, you really think that cripples gonna give me that much trouble."

"I've already told you once not to underestimate him. He already got some of your hair or did you forget? "

"No, it's just... never mind I won't underestimate him."

Inside though, Serena thought luke was being too cautious. She saw kai's attack as simple luck nothing to be afraid of. She figured once she got close enough she could easily disable the man and then it would be her victory.

Dark clouds soon gathered and a heavy storm soon followed. After a while kai and tara were out of sight of the city and right at that moment, Luke spoke up.

"Now."

Not needing to hear it twice Serena sped up, and within seconds the two were there. Serena quickly pounced towards the back of kai's neck extending her hand forward as if it were a claw and right as she came close to him she thought, (easy win) but just as she was about to connect she heard a shout.

"Look out ."

Hearing luke's voice she immediately felt danger and she instantly dunked her head, and as she did kais blade scraped across the top of her back making a metallic clank sound. Had it not been for her armor a chunk of her back would surely be lying in the back of the cart right now. She quickly jumped back several meters behind a large boulder, angry at her own foolish mistake and then she heard his voice.

"Who goes there."

*KABOOM CRACK*

As the storm got worse lightning could be seen all over the sky and thunder could be heard cracking in the distance.

Because of the sudden attack tara was startled and kai was sweating just a bit. If it hadn't been for his amazing senses, he felt that with this attacker's strength for sure would have broken his neck. Just as he thought that a lone figure stepped out from behind a large boulder. Clad in full body armor darkened black with a purple bird over the chest and a silver star above its head, but what had stunned him the most was that the wearer was a small girl only around 5ft tall. Kai quickly said.

"Region knight why?"

And as the words left his mouth he already knew it was his past deeds that caused this situation.

"Oh, you don't know?"

Angered by her close call, Serena decided to quit playing around.So she drew her sword and took a stance just as the words had left her mouth Serena's body flickered disappearing, and quickly reappearing in front of kai striking at him once more this time with her sword. As her sword approached, kai quickly intercepted it with his and once more a metallic clanking sound could be heard, but even though they were on the same rank kai being a man was slightly stronger and with a bit of force he pushed her back. But as he did she took her free hand and with a clawing type motion easily struck his ribs forcing him back as well.

"Hmm so your not quite a cripple."

Serena smirked.

"Tara run."

" So the woman's name is tara?"

As tara prepared to flee Serena ran towards her with incredible speed, but before she could get to her kai jumped in between her and his wife and thrust out with his sword straight at Serena's head.

*tch*

Seeing this, Serena leaned forward and with the momentum of her body did a front flip. As her legs came down she kicked Kai's sword directly into the ground causing it to break. She thought(my win) but just as she was landing kais broken sword was already at her face. Seeing this she had realized her mistake, kai let her break his sword to seem like he had been defeated just so at the moment she thought she'd won her guard would be down. This all flashed in her mind and in a split second she thought(no), but just as the blade was about to strike her she heard a scream. Kai hearing this scream as well immediately realized who it was from and froze for a second. Seeing this opportunity, Serena dashed back quickly making a space between her and kai. A cold sweat dripping down her spine.

"Tara."

Kai missing the opportunity to kill his opponent felt a bit of anger well up within him and he quickly looked towards his wife. To his horror he saw another region knight standing behind her with his hand on the back of her neck, but what really shocked him and what really made him feel bitter was the fact that this man was at the 7th LVL. The man spoke in a calm voice he said.

"Ho, so this child has red eyes now it's all coming together."

"Please don't hurt them, they're innocent."

"Hmm, innocent of what I wonder. First kneel, second your name 5th rank tell me your name."

Kai looking at his scared wife knelt down on the ground and he quickly answers.

"Kai."

"Kai huh, tell me kai do you know why we've come."

Serena seeing this just stood there quietly as to not interrupt her elder brother, but her anger was as hot as a flame right now she's never felt so embarrassed in her whole life. To nearly die from a cripple, she gave kai a terrible look while she mashed and grinded her teeth.

"Yes, I know."

"And why have we come for you."

"Because of what has happened."

"STOP PLAYING STUPID!! we know it was you who destroyed Seedal village. Now answer me, why did you kill them ?was it because of this little monster of yours huh speak."

Kai looked at his wife and child and felt hopelessness. Tara looked back at him and was shaking her head towards kai signaling to not speak. Luke seeing this tightened his grip on the back of her neck causing her to wince in pain, kai quickly shouted.

"I'll talk ill talk just please don't hurt her."

"Then tell me why, why the women, why the children?"

Kais face darkened he still hadn't forgotten the screams from that night and even now his nightmares from it haunt him. He tried to put it behind him but every time he remembers he starts to hear that voice in his head again. (kill, kill, kill)

"I had to, my son, my boy, I had to protect him."

"To protect, for this little monster you killed all those innocent people. Why didn't you just leave why didn't you just run away you think they deserved that ?"

" Deserve, did any of them deserve it. I have a nightmare about it every night it scratches at the back of my brain and I hear they're screams, but then I remember the villagers, the men, my neighbors. They chased us, cornered me and my wife and tried to kill my boy. Tell me what would you have done would you have let someone kill your child right in front of you. I did it to protect my son from having more people come after him, but it seems I failed and it's my fault that they came. My wife, my son they're innocent please, please don't harm them."

"And you woman did you participate in any way."

Tara now crying could barely keep herself from collapsing she looked towards kai and kai shook his head.

"She had nothing to do with it I told you, please let her go."

"QUIET! she will tell me not you."

Kai immediately shut up realizing this man could end his wife with a slight squeeze. As tara continued to cry looking at her husband and then her son she whispered.

"no."

Kai hearing this let out a small sigh of relief he didn't want her to die as well. Especially because of him.

"I have heard your confession and now everything makes sense your sons eyes you killing them. Now I Luke James the 3rd of the 8th squad of region knights am authorized to hand out your punishment. Woman since you are innocent and the suspect has confessed you may go free .and kai for your crimes you will be put to death."

Hearing this kai somewhat accepted it and was even somewhat relieved that even though he would be killed his wife would escape, but what he heard next shocked him to the core.

"And as for this child, he will be sentenced to death for being a monster."

"NO, MY BABY PLEASE PLEASE NOT SEN DONT KILL MY SON."

"My son, you would kill a child."

"This thing is not a child its a monster I have no gripes about killing monsters."

Serena hearing this was shocked her anger immediately dissipated. She thought she heard wrong killing a child, it made her stomach start to twist, she whispered.

"brother you can't."

"Serena this is no child look at its eyes, only demons have eyes like these."

Serena absolutely confused at what was happening shouted.

"No, we are region knights we do not kill children."

"I'm saying this is no."

Before he could finish kai was upon him with boundless rage in his heart. He could understand his death that was his fault, but no one is allowed to harm his child, NO ONE!!! As he swung his broken sword at Luke, Luke had already noticed and drew his sword and was already piercing towards kais neck. But before his sword landed he felt a sharp pain in his hand, tara had bitten his hand and tore a chunk of flesh directly from it. This was enough to distract him, allowing kai to slice at his head but him being 2 full ranks higher he was barely able to dodge the broken sword allowing it to slice a small part of his ear off. He immediately kicked kai in his chest sending him flying into the forest smashing through several trees before he finally hit one more coming to an abrupt stop. Kai threw up several mouth fulls of blood before he fell down completely limp on the ground.As luke did that he then thru tara launching her several meters away until she hit the ground with Sen still in her arms. Serena dazed at this sudden event snapped back to reality after tara was thrown. She quickly grabbed her brother's arm and with an urgency she yelled.

"Brother no!"

Luke was furious, it could be said that he was quite handsome he had gotten compliments all his life and in fact he really was. He had a bit of an ego about it and so throughout the years he's always avoided taking damage to his face. He'd never even gotten so much as a scratch before, one time a training partner almost broke his nose during a spar and luke beat the man almost to death. But that he understood, the man like himself was at the 7th warrior rank, but these two backwood no names messed up his face. Luke was furious, madder than he's ever been in his entire life.He didn't even notice his sister anymore, he jumped down from the cart with Serena still on his arm like she was nothing and slowly walked towards tara and Sen. Serena grabbed at his waist pulling with all her strength not even slowing him down a bit Serena was getting more and more frantic she had never seen her brother so enraged before, but he continued on until he was directly in front of Tara and Sen. He picked up his blade and slashed down with astonishing speed but before it could reach them, Serena had somehow made in front of tara and blocked his blade with her armor. The heaviness, forcing Serena to her knees causing large cracks in the rock beneath her to appear. Before she could recover luke had already lifted his blade for another strike, and as he did something came flying at his face. Luke easily deflected it away with his sword, it was kais broken blade. Even after being smashed thru those trees he had yet to let go of his blade and when he came to he had barely made it to his feet before he saw luke about to kill his family. So he immediately threw it out, after luke deflected kais sword he saw where it came from. Angered that he hadn't killed kai with his kick he quickly threw his own sword at kai, easily piercing his chest and pinning kai to a tree behind him. Kai let out a terrible roar in pain and soon fell unconscious hearing this tara was absolutely terrified her crying got worse and the storm raged on, Tara bellowed.

"NO."

Luke now missing a sword grabbed Serena's from her. As she tried to keep hold of it, her grip easily slipped. Compared to her brothers strength there was simply no way to keep it. Luke once more raised a sword high above his head, but before he could swing Serena again stood in front of him now crying herself.

"Brother, we are region knights. We protect the weak from those that would cause them harm we fight for those that cannot fight for themselves we always serve justice, and we never kill children. Please stop ."

Luke, still not comprehending, quickly backhanded his sister into a boulder crushing part of the rock, and causing Serena to immediately lose consciousness.

"Please, not sen not my baby."

As luke once more looked on at tara and her son, he finally came to. He noticed something very strange, the boy, his eyes were glowing. He thought(he really is a monster) and once more Luke raised the sword up. Tara still crying, now with her eyes closed she hugged Sen tightly and just kept whispering.

"no no no."

And then she heard it.

"Mother it's alright."

She opened her eyes and Sen was looking directly at her. His eyes now glowing brighter than she's ever seen. Sen touched his mothers bracelet and as he did it shined a bright purple, luke swung his sword but before it connected .

*BOOOOOMM!!!*

Lightning struck!!
